Salon l'Etoile Jenkintown

I called to schedule a trial for my wedding and they put up stink because my maid of honor and my mom also wanted trials (which are full price, so why do they care?). Then when we show up, the stylist thought we were just getting up-dos for that night - she had no idea we were there for bridal trials and the confusion wasn't figured out until halfway into my hairstyle when she asked me, so how are you wearing your hair for your wedding? Then when I confusingly told her that is what she was doing - my trial - she was angry and bitchy because the appointments weren't for the right amount of time, and she doesn't do trials on Sunday, and she didn't know ahead of time, and she couldn't understand why my mom and maid of honor wanted trials. She made comments about how we should have come with a better idea of what we wanted (she's the stylist - heaven forbid I would want some advice)! and was snippy with my friend because her hair is short (""Normally, people who are in weddings grow their hair out""). She wouldn't really help us with ideas or recommendations - all she said was ""it's whatever you want."" She was very rude to my mom because my mom really didn't know what she wanted and was looking for help. After all that, she ended up doing a great job and we were happy with the styles (and her attitude finally improved), but when I called later to finalize my wedding day appts, the scheduler wouldn't schedule me because she was too busy that day. What hair salon is too busy to make an appointment? She was also very snotty and rude to me and asked me to call back on Monday. The woman is only there during my working hours and it is very difficult for me to get a minute to even call the damn place and when I finally get to, SHE is too busy to take my appointment when that's her freaking job??? You've got to be kidding me. I was very happy with the hair styles, but this place is truly aggravating and I will be going elsewhere that will treat me with respect. This Salon is like no other I have been to, It really is the biggest I have seen and the first time I went I thought they were giving somthing away, Now i know why it is so busy, I have tried a few of there stylists and each one was very good, So I not say one is better than another. My first experience with Salon L'Etoile was at the Manayunk location. My stylist was fantastic (Mike R.) However, the staff was not so friendly. I feel like they are lacking in customer service skills. They are rude from the moment you call for an appointment to the minute you leave the salon. When they answer the phone they make you feel like a nuisance. On a positive note the talent is wonderful. Recently a friend advised me to try the Jenkintown location. GREAT!!! The staff was very nice. They are very kind on the phone; they were very nice once I was in the salon. I saw Julio for my haircut. He was FANTASTIC!! In fact, the reason I am leaving a comment on this site is because I was looking up the Salon's phone number to make another appointment with Julio. My daughter and I went last Saturday to get our highlighting and as we were waiting to be called this woman who I never saw before came up to my daughter and asked her to tell me to get off my cell phone and take my business elsewhere. I was only on the cell for a few minutes and talking quietly and this wasn't a library or a movie theatre. My daughter basically told her that I was doing nothing wrong and she should mind her own business. Next thing I know, the woman went up to the management and told us we were not welcome in their salon anymore. They were screaming at my daughter saying horrible things that I couldn't believe my ears and had nothing to do with the cell phone incident. We were humiliated in a salon that we have been going to for years. They never even came over to us to find out our side of the story, but instead took the side of this other woman. Don't ever go to Salon L'Etoile, as they are very rude, crude, and downright mean. They don't care about their customers at all. Many snobby people in there! Adrienne knows how to work with my hair, is always right on point in terms of what color and highlights and style looks best on me, is always on time, is pleasant and friendly and always makes me feel pretty! My daughter has had alopecia and is totally bald and has been since the age of 2 (she is now a teenager.) Every time we have looked into a wig they have looked ridiculous and were uncomfortable and so she had never worn one but now showed an interest in trying again. Mel and Linda offered their time and talent without any thought of payment. They were caring and sensitive to her needs and feelings. They spent time talking about her thoughts and gave some suggestions then Linda custom made a perfect wig for her. It looks so natural and comfortable. THANK YOU!! You are the BEST!! I went to this salon a couple times. Once the colorist didnt do my hair exactly as I wanted, the manager let me get a couple hair treatments on the house, and while my daughter was waiting for me , they also gave her a hair treatment , no charge. I thought that was so nice ! Pros: Nice salon, great customer service. more

I've always gotten excellent service at L 'Etoile. As a man, and its really hard to find a good, stylish haircut for men -- but I found it at L 'Etoile. I have never had to wait. more

I was there on 9/29/2007 when there was a problem that caused many staff and patrons to collapse from exposure to carbon monoxide from the parking garage amongst other chemicals. Staff handled it wonderfully. But, there has never been any follow up from management. No one ever called me to see if I was ok. So, I'm looking for a new salon after 15 years! more

I have been coming to Salon E'toile for 6 years and have nothing but good experiences everytime I visit. I drive about 45 minutes to get there and it's worth the trip. I come to have my hair straigtened twice a year and about 3 times a year for a haircut. Vicky is the best! more

i went to the solan and i met my stylist koula for the first time . I didnt know what to do with my hair she told me what styles are good for my face shape , and she was right , i look so much younger now. I have to agree with the poster Ptfam about the level of gossip in the salon. And I have to agree about the long wait times and the fact that management is at fault here. Sadly you do have some wonderful talent in that salon. Gossip is only attractive to those who gossip themselves. If you want to talk about someone it should never be your clients, or you will lose them as you have lost me and many others. The eyes and ears of this place should be used to better your business and make your clients happy not to talk about clients and each other. This post is NOT a fake, and I am not the owner of a nearby salon but rather a customer who left sometime ago due to the uncalled for behavior of not only the very snotty desk employees but the owners themselves. Firstly, I am not an ex-empolyee or a comptetitor, I am a former client of L'Etoile-and I emphasize former! I had been going for many years.A few months ago I needed a haircut, but the person I would normally see was away on vacation.The receptionist suggested the name of someone else, saying she was excellent. I asked a few questions about this new persons style and ability,and then agreed (MY BIG MISTAKE!).When it came time for my appointment, within about 2 minutes of her starting I knew it was trouble. I shouldnt have let her finish but I didnt know what to do. It was so horrible,so bad, completely uneven, shaggy and about 6 inches shorter than I requested!!! I was nearly in tears. She knew she did a horrible job and ran to the back to get another stylist to come out and 'clean up' my haircut - which of course entails cutting off more. It was a horrible experience and a horrible haircut! The two stylists appologized and said I did not owe any money for the haircut (big deal!). The next day I called the salon to speak with the owner and let him know about what a terrible service they provided - he had me come in to see it and said he would 'clean it up' himself. After making me wait for half an hour, he proceded to say to me that it wasnt that bad, and why was I complaining - ""at least you got a free haircut""! He raised his voice to me,saying so what I was unhappy and I was not going to get any 'compensation' for THINKING it was a bad haircut. Never mind that I was a grown lady crying in his salon, so unhappy by my beautiful long hair being chopped off (and chopped uneven), now the owner of the salon is yelling at me in front of other staff and clients, as if I did something wrong. It was the WORST salon experience ever. I will NEVER give 1 penny to that salon again. Not only did he not apologize nor say he would prevent it from happening to someone else again, he completely embarassed me in front of other people and accused me of being in the wrong! This is such a glorious salon. The staff is talented,the prices are very reasonable and the location if perfect. Unlike other local spots,there is always an abundance of parking as well as an abundance of talented staff to serve your every need. Michelle has been doing my color for several years and belive me there is no better talent anywhere. Chris does the styling and is also first rate. For nails I adore Zoya and will be a customer here forever. more
