Since I got my hair done by Carolyn, I have been amazed how long my color has stayed vibrant! Usually my red fades SO fast. Not this time. Plus it is a beautiful copper red! The salon is also very comforting with its hard woods and comfy seating. ( the wine helps too ) It you want fabulous service give it a try! more

I had been going to Cheri for my highlights and cuts for a while. She suggested Carolyn for the Chi Straightening system because I have uncontrollable frizz. My hair has never looked so shinny and pretty. You can really see what a great color job it is. Everyone in the salon is sooooooo nice and goes out of their way to make sure that you are comfortable. I had been wanting to get a new style and color. I was very, very pleased with the way my hair would style or it could just dry natural and still look great after my first visit. My color WOW ! I am new to the Austin area and was stressing out about who I could trust to do my hair. Previous to moving here, I had the same stylist forever, who I usually just let do what she felt would look the best. So, naturally I was nervous about finding someone of similar stature! But Cherie has done that exact thing. The first time I went to her, I gave her a vague idea of what I wanted as far as color.. just something different and fun. She did an awesome job on my color, it is funky yet not too dramatic (exactly what I had in mind). As far as my cut, my hair isn't the easiest to work with. I have very fine AND thin hair, so cutting and styling it to appear the opposite is difficult. Cherie did an AWESOME job!! With minimal effort, I can style my ""thick"" hair and it looks great!! Overall, I would highly recommend Cherie and all the other staff at the salon. It is a very laidback, yet professional atmosphere and I always enjoy going. Not to mention, you can't beat a complimentary glass of wine while you get pampered! more

I have not been able to find anyone to do my hair the way that I lke since I moved to Texas, till now! I like more than one color blonde in my hair without going white. Tiffany listen to what I wanted and asked the right questions to make sure that I got what I want. Not mention that it was the best style that I have ever had. I was searching for a hair salon after 10 years of coloring my own hair at home. I witnessed a disastrous experience a friend had at Jackson-Ruiz and I knew they would never deserve my hard-earned money, so I began searching the web. I found Salon Cherie and took a chance and picked up the phone. Leah (I hope the spelling is right) was the person who answered and, to my surprise, was astonishingly polite with my stumbling questions. She was SO polite, patient and kind, in fact, that I based my decision to make an appointment totally on the way she treated me over the phone. I wanted to get my hair cut and colored professionally for the first time in a long time. The other thing that I must say is that this was set up in a matter of 2 hours. And by a sincere human, not the internet. So, I came to see Carolyn that morning and I have to say that she was most gracious and kind and patient, not to mention that I had given her free reign on my hair and I was so happy with the way it looked when I left. She took a head full of long, bleached blond hair and brought it close to my natural color without a shocking change. She also was extremely respectful of my request to keep it long. The whole staff, including the owner, were so personable and real that it was refreshing. I got so many compliments on my hair. I left it down and my friends were astonished at the transformation. I even got one of my best friends to go the very next day and her hair turned out just the way she wanted. I must say that I had a wonderful experience and will return to CAROLYN every time I pay to have something done to my hair because she is caring and knowledgeable. Yes, they have wine !!!! And prices are fair. But more importantly, they have outstanding customer service and friendliness and know-how in the hair business. Thank you Leah, Carolyn and Sherry. In an effort to find someone to handle making my brown hair blonde I have gone to some of the best salons in Austin. I have come out from from some of those ""so called"" best salons in austin with everthing form bright orange hair to green hair and everything inbetween. My last and final (thank God) visit to was to Tiffany. She made me the blonde I have always wanted,and then cut and styled my hair perfect. My blowout lasted 3 days and I was still getting compliments on the third day. Thanks Tiffany! Pros: Tiffany is great, really listens and knows her stuff. Cons: parking was a bit of a challenge, but worth it more

I heard about Salon Cherie from a friend who claimed it was a great Salon so I decided to give it a try. I was impressed from the minute I walked in until the minute I left. The service was great the hair cut was even better and Carolyn my stylist was terrific! I have never gone online before to write a review but I was so pleased with this Salon I had to let people know what a great place it is and that they have a customer for life. I just visited Salon Cherie for the first time and I am sooo glad I finally found someone to tell me what I need and be right! I have fine hair and it?s long so I have a lot of maintenance to keep up with and Cheri helped me cut that down and my color turned out great! Salon Cherie took care of my bridal party over a very busy weekend. My hair looked amazeing and so did all my bridesmaids. There was zero stress and everyone got exactly what the wanted. My only regret was not finding the salon sooner. I had gone to two very expensive salons and did not get near what I wanted. I am very impressed and will back to get color nexted. Cherie, the owner, for many reasons, IS NOT someone I can recommend. I know she would want to be compared to the best salons and I can say from Cherry Creek, Denver, Colorado to many of the best salons in Dallas, Cherie is not someone I would make a return hair appointment with. I recently moved to Austin and was very dissappointed by the lack of professionalism and the treatment I received when she colored my hair. I have had a lot of salon experiences, but not one was ever as bad as the appointment with Cherie. If you are looking for someone that is friendly, warm and someone you can trust, don't waste your time/money here. I have been trying for years to get my hair colored the perfect blonde, and Cheri Gifford has done it! She's been doing my hair since I moved to Austin. I trust her instinct for style and what will suit me individually to the extent that I am comfortable giving her a vague description of what I want and letting her do her work. She asks enough questions that I know if she is unsure of what I want she will let me know. Her prices are reasonable and comparable to what I have found in both bigger and smaller cities. more

I have lived in New York City, Dallas and Austin (and have highlighted my hair from a light brown to a bright blonde throughout all my moves), so I have seen a LOT of salons. I recently tried Carolyn based off another Citysearch reviewer who mentioned Carolyn's panache for blondes, and the reviewer was definately right on the money! Carolyn had patience (and natural talent - a must!), which is so important in getting a natural-looking blonde, plus she was genuinely nice and not fake, unlike many jaded hairstylists I've run into. Salon Cherie is about the fifth salon I've tried in Austin, and I definately will be staying with Carolyn! Pros: Great atmosphere; even the other stylists were friendly to me! Cons: Can't think of any - as with all highlighting, it never is a cost-effective endeavor! more

I went to Cherie for a color correction and cut correction and was feeling pretty crummy about how my hair looked. First of all, the receptionist was an absolute doll and fit me in the next day, and after reading the reviews about Chrerie's previous work I was excited to get my hair fixed. The salon itself is very easy to find (they gave me great direcions), no problems parking either. The interior is absolutely beautiful and inviting. Now...down to the nitty gritty...I consulted with Cherie about what I wanted for my hair and we both agreed that what I had wasn't it at all. She took her time and showed me different color options...including lower price options if I needed it (which I thought was particularly thoughtful). We decided on an all over color and highlights. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful color...and the cut!! My hair looked like a funky bowl cut with choppy/haphazard layers before Cherie fixed it. When she was done it was so pretty, smooth and stylish. She really turned a bad cut into something adorable. Cherie and Genie made me feel so welcome and I would highly recommend Salon Cherie to anyone, but esecially if you have difficult to color hair like I do (my hair turns red if you merely think about red near me!) , then you need Cherie! Pros: Amazing color ability as well as cuts... Cons: none that I can see! more

After going to just about every top salon in Beverly Hills, CA, I was worried about finding a place to go to in Austin. I have naturally dark brown hair and dye it blonde and it's not an easy job to maintain.
