When I come in, which is very often, I get either the pork noodle bowl or the beef pho noodle soup and as an appetizer usually a spring roll. I have never had a bad experience here and will continue to go back. The food and atmosphere is great, wonderful. Keep up the good work!!! Pros: Great Food and Service more

Definitely coming back! 4/7/2008

Sure it's a restaurant next to a hotel but hey, it's like finding a diamond in the rough! Most good places are like that. The selection is good and the food tastes great. The ""Bo Luc Lac"" was great and my wife had the Pho which she said was great as well. The food was fast and the wait staff are nice. In general, it's a nice cozy little place. If you like Austin and its ""laid-back"" attitude and love Vietnamese and Chinese food then Saigon Kitchen is for you. Pros: Huge Selection of food, friendly wait staff, good food Cons: near the highway with lots of constructions. more

Not coming back 11/5/2007

We visited this place because of the good reviews I read on Citysearch.\r \r They served some vegetables while we waited for our Vietnamese egg rolls. The egg rolls looked like they were over-fried. They also tasted like they were fried in old oil, yuck. \r \r I had a roast pork and shrimp egg noodle soup which was pretty good, until I ate the last shrimp. It tasted funny and I had to expel it! My SO ordered the combination pho. The flavor of the soup and the noodles were good, but the beef was TOUGH. \r \r Not sure where the good reviews came from. But we?re not giving the place a second chance. We have had better Vietnamese food even at the chain restaurant Pho Que Huong in Dallas.\r \r I had a stomach ache a few hours later, which I suspect was from the bad shrimp. If it matters, I am Asian and I am not really prone to getting sick eating at Asian restaurants. Pros: Good service Cons: Bad experience with food more

Good ! 8/9/2007

Great place 10/29/2006

This place is great for Pho!! It is hardly ever full, so no worries about lines! The service is very prompt! ( if you like crab ragoon - ask for it!! it's not on the menu but they will make it and it's great! ) Pros: not crowded, good food more

Place was empty at 6:30 PM on Saturday night 9/8/2006

Place was oddly empty when my wife and I visited it on a Saturday evening [By the way, it was a UT game night so that may have something to do with it being empty]. \r \r The waiter was polite; however, when I asked which fish or shrimp dish would he recommend that was spicy, he suggested the garlic salt shrimp which was very greasy and defintely way too salty. I probably should have played it safe and gone for a noodle bowl. \r \r My wife ordered the sweet and sour shrimp soup which she liked.\r \r We ordered the fried seseme banana for dessert and this was very delicious. Try this.\r \r If you go, make sure you know what kind of dish you are getting before being too adventurous. Pros: Polite waitstaff Cons: Did not like garlic salt shrimp; too greasy more

Excellent Clay Pot Dishes 5/22/2006

Saigon Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants. The location could be better - many people might overlook it sandwiched between a motel & Subway franchise - but the food is excellent. In 10 years, I've never had a bad meal. My favorite is ""catfish simmered in a claypot."" It takes a little longer to come to the table, but the flavor is out of this world! Pros: inexpensive, authentic cuisine, friendly Cons: bad location more

Best Secret in Austin 3/3/2006

I've been eating at Saigon Kitchen off and on for 20 years and it's always been some of the best Vietnamese food in town, and the Chinese food isn't bad either. You could easily miss it, or be scared off by the fact that it's on the highway attached to a hotel, but this is a genuine locally operated business and the food is great. Pros: Inexpensive, good parking, great food more

Large Menu, Nice Lunch Special 10/11/2005

The lunch specials are a great price for the amount of food you get. The menu is huge and has something for everyone. There are also a good amount of vegetarian items to choose from too. more

Great Lunch Special 9/26/2005

Drive too fast down IH35 and you could miss Saigon Kitchen between the Best Western and the Marriott hotels. This is one of Austin's hidden finds. Their menu is huge - they have one for Vietnamese and one for Chinese food. The lunch specials are a great value for the quality of food and amounts you receive. Pros: Food, Service, Menu more
