Good place for Lunch 7/24/2009

After getting tired of eating out at sandwich places for lunch, I was looking for some other alternative. Thats when I stumbled across SaWaDiKa as I was browsing for thai restaurants online. After seeing the really positive reviews, I chose to check out this place for lunch. As I entered the place I was greeted by a waitress right away even though the place was completely packed. I sat at the bar and after going through the lunch specials (which are a little bit pricey compared to other thai restaurants I have been to) I ordered the Thai Basil Chicken. The waitress brought me a soup of the day (a vegetable and tofu soup) which was included with the entree right away. It was pretty good. My Thai Basil Chicken came soon after ( I was actually impressed with the quick service despite being very crowded). I have to say it was the best version of this dish I have had. The chicken was cooked just right and the veggies were very fresh. I have been there a few times after that and I also tried the Pad Kee Mow which was also very good. Highly recommend this place! Pros: Service, food Cons: Lunch prices are a little pricey more

Fantastic Thai Basil Fried rice! Yumm! 6/23/2009

This amazing Thai restaurant in Richardson hasTHE BEST Thai food in all of the dallas area! I usually get the Pad Kee Mow which is flat noodles with the basil and veggies, but today for thai food lunch, I ordered the f basil fired rice . It was fantastic! I can imagine this as a side dish as well for take out thai food. I am using my leftovers today ( the order is so large there is no way I can eat it all) for my dinner tonight. I think I'll make fish as a nice compliment to this thai restaurants fantastic basil rice dish. I highly recommened this restaurant. Pros: Fantastic service and yummy food more

Chic n cool experience with great food 4/9/2009

upon entering, the restaurant seems too dark but once your eyes adjust you can appreciate the nice environment it creates along with the stone walls, inviting booths, and industrial decor. The menu is varied but not overwhelming with most dishes $10-$13. I had the Thai Basil which was delicious, the sauce pleasantly sweet with the Basil leaves giving a nice kick. Service is friendly, and even down to the details (attractive coasters and 2 kinds of mints) this place gets it right! Come early for lunch, this place gets crowded in a hurry. Pros: Nice environment and service, great food, Cons: Little pricey for lunch more

Delicious Thai 8/21/2008

I love Thai food, and the other day, my dad and I went to SaWaDiKa Thai Zone, which has come highly recomended. The storefront restaurant was very cozy and authentic thai aromas filled the air. I ordered my traditional Pad Se Iew with extra veggies and light oil. The soy sauce drenched flat rice noodles were soft and chewy, just they way I love them. The veggies included mushrooms, carrots, baby bok choy, baby corn, broccoli, and napa cabbage. They were all the perfect texture?not too soft and not too crispy. All the dishes looked fresh and delicious. I will definitely return to this Thai restaurant again. Pros: Delicious Food, Good Service more

I loved this place! I eat a lot of Thai, and this food is excellent. The staff was so nice and attentive. The waiter and bartender took very good care of us. It is reasonably priced and not too crowded. It has a good ambiance and is very clean. I would go out of my way to eat here again. Pros: food, drinks, service more

Great local Thai food 6/3/2008

Mu husband and I both love thai food and typically ate at Jasmine in Plano. Since finding this place, located in a strip mall near Luby's in Richardson, we have becoem loyal folllowers. Pad kee mao with chicken is my favorite, it is a flat spicy noodle dish with chicken. I also recommend Yum Neiu which is a spicy beef salad. My sister and Dad love the pinnapple chicken and my husband usually gets the Larb Gai, also a spicier chicken dish. This restaurant has a great atmosphere and great drinks with frequent specials tto look for. \r \r more

The Best tasting Thai food in the DFW area...#1. 5/14/2008

If you love thai food and you love a great atmosphere then Sawadika is the place you should be eating at. The food is outstanding, from the Pad kee mow to the Yum Nuah you cant go wrong. The staff is always friendly and attentive and willing to suggest something new to the person who wants to try something different. My personal favorite is the Larb Gai which is a chicken salad spiced with diffrent herbs, onions and spices which are cooked to perfection. Try this place asap, you'll be happy you did. Pros: Food, staff, service, Food! Taste! Cons: None!! more

A find 12/16/2007

This is such a find! Located in a strip location it is very unassuming. I tend to frequent Thai restaurants and generally eat the same dish . I can tell you their flat spicy noodle dish with chicken was OUTSTANDING! The spices seem to come from the meat and complimented with just the right ?heat? for a spicy noodle. Sometimes I find places like the banana leaf overcompensate for the spice part. I love extra basil in mine too and they were very accommodating. This Thai restaurant has clean lines and a nice quiet bar where you can watch the game ( for my b-friend) while still having a nice dinner. So many places make you eat sports food if you want to catch the game too. I love this place! Great food, service, VERY clean, and a good place for takeout or a special occasion. Pros: The perfect 'heat' to a spicy dish Cons: a little hard to find, it's in the same strip as lubys in richardson more

Traditional #1 Thai food in DFW 10/10/2007

When we first walked in the door, we were greeted by all of the employees with the traditional Thai ""hello""(sawadika). AS we were welcomed to the restaurant, I noticed the very clean and comforting atmosphere. We started our meal with one of their many appetizers, the Sawadika Sampler Platter. There was a large variety for us to treat our taste buds. For our entree, we had Tiger Cry, which is steak served with sticky rice and Thai style chili sauce. We also ordered the Seafood Treasure, which is marinated seafood served with yellow curry and garlic sauce. Both of the entrees are served in Traditional Thai style. For our desert, of course we had the mango sticky rice, and it was delicious. My rating for Sawadika is an A+ and I highly recommend it to everyone. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner for two or somewhere to take the kids, Sawadika will be an enjoyable and satisfying experience. Pros: very nice and smooth place for family and couple Cons: cant think of any because its almost perfect more

Best Thai Food. 10/9/2007

I've found the best place to eat Thai food around the Dallas area. When you first walk in you are greeted by the waitresses/servers. The interior is done very well especially the bar. I was seated and they proceeded to take my drink order. The resturaunt has a huge selection, it took me a while to read everything on the menu. When I placed my order for the pad kee mow, I was suprised that the server asked how spicy I would want it. Normally every other Thai place would give me ""that"" look at me if I didn't get it spicy. I asked for mild and the waitress took my order and I didn't get ""the look."" The entree came and it was delicious, it tasted like it was straight from Thailand. When I finished, the waitress asked if I had any more room for dessert. I declined and asked for my check. I would recommend this resturaunt to everyone and will definitely come back again and again. Pros: Ambience, Food, Service Cons: Parking (When busy) more

A different THAI ZONE 9/4/2007

This is a totally ""different Thai restaurant"". Very nice decor inside. Very good food. Amazing ""Lamb Chop Curry"", ""Volcano Chicken"", ""Grilled Sea Bass"" and ""Tiger Cry"". Ohh, Yummy. Their Lunch special starts from $6.95. Regular dishes from $8-$10. Seafood costs from $10-17.95. They only use big shrimp. Very reasonable and affordable. I go there with my girl friend for half price Martini on Monday & Tuesday night drink special. We love this place so much. They open Mon-Sat 11:00am-10:00pm. Sunday closed. Highly recommended. more
