Going into S & H for the first time, one can be overwhelmed by the myriad of hardware choices. Take your time, ask questions, be polite and patient and you will receive the care necessary to make the right choice. Yes, sometimes you may have to wait, but the time taken will be worth it. Not even close to Home Depot (with which I've had nothing but problems with a toilet) or Lowe's for quality and service. I have been an S & H customer for many years. All the Asian inspired pulls for my bedroom cabinetry came from there with no problem. Most recently, I ordered a deadbolt and doorknob AND cabinet pulls for my vintage kitchen renovation during two different visits. Jim, the hardware manager, took care of me both times. He was knowledgeable beyond compare about quality, availability, and price comparisons. He showed me the most expensive and then a comparable version with the same or better quality but much less expensive. I am a satisfied customer on every level and most certainly will shop S & H for future needs. more

I've been to S&H Hardware many times and i've never had a problem with any of the staff they gave me the best service and seemed very helpful and knowledgable about what they sell and i find them very affordable as well.They've won me over for many years to come. more

I love the service I get here. You go in ask, you get out. Its simple as that. Whatever you need they have, and theyre always just waiting for you to be helped with, and they provide adequate and fast service. Price is adequate too, its not insane prices. I went to S&H with my 50 year old shower diverter. Every other store I was in lilterlly laughed at me when I told them I needed a replacement. Herb spent 4 hours with me getting me the parts I needed, he was so great I bought the matching hot and cold stems and handles. After the first set was incorrect from the factory, he actually sent my pld one off to the manufacturer and had on made, at no additional charge. This place is an old school hardware store with old school attitude, they treated me well. It's like a TV show a bunch of gruff manly men standing around a hardware store. more

We go here for all of our hardware needs. If you are looking for it, this place has it ALL. Many businesses use this place. My Father, Brother and I have been going here for years. Plumbing supplies, he even has train sets, and some auto supplies. Hard to find things can be found here, and the service is EXCELLENT! more

He was knowledgeable beyond compare about quality, availability, and price comparisons. He showed me the most expensive and then a comparable version with the same or better quality but much less expensive. My lockset and knob arrived in 24 hours. The cabinet pulls arrived within the two week estimate. One was defective (manufacturing fault) and he called the manufacturer directly to get a replacement immediately. My most recent phone call (and all previous phone calls were promptly returned, BTW) was in regards to getting extra keys for my most beautiful Baldwin deadbolt. Jim told me to come right in and since they have, in stock, the Baldwin key head, they would make me additional keys for $3 as compared to getting them from the Baldwin code for $20. I am a satisfied customer on every level and most certainly will shop S & H for future needs. more

These guys are great.........I Just Finished Building a $600,000.00 home. My parents used these guys to build their home. Some of the negative reviews these guys do not deserve. I have been buying from them tp supply my home with products from my laundry room sink to my master bathroom with my great toto toilets to my weber grill. These guys are the best in the industry. I know they had a nut by the name of norman working there who did some bad stuff like lied to some people , but they fired this guy's ass . My father took me to this place when i was 12 to buy a train set. As far as i am concerned, these guys go out of their way to satisfy you. I give them a five star rating. They beat the prices i received from places like weinstein supply, and , Grove Supply. . They are very competitive but are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. If you need help, go to these guys, they are great. dont believe everything you read on the internet. Why have they been in business for over 55 years.. Give these guys a break , my wife loves that guy HERB. He is in charge and knows everything. If you have any questions get ahold of this guy Herb. He is always busy, but its worth the wait. . He is a magician with plumbing. Harold know everything, and Jim is very good to.They deserve all the business you can give them. I am extremely satisfied. more

I was recommended by my contractor to check out S&H Hardware when I started a renovation of two of my bathrooms and all of my interior door hardware. I visited both their bath location and their hardware location which are located with-in a block of each other in northeast Philadelphia. My contractor actually told me to make them my last stop. I visited three other plumbing companies, and another door hardware company out in King of Prussia. I thought I knew everything for my renovation before I shopped S&H. Boy was I wrong. Both salesman @ S&H explained everything to me from the bath location and the hardware location. I started my purchase in April of this year (2009) and I just finished my complete Home renovation. The important stuff that my contractor needed to start the renovation was received with-in 10 days. I custom ordered many special products, and some of the products started arriving in about a week. They explained to me that the finish of the hardware could take as long as 8 weeks, and if i did not want to wait that long to pick out some other finish and companies. Well, these guys are great. It is now July 18th and my renovation is done. S&H was very competitive, in price, they treated me like I was an important part of the whole renovation, and everything looks great. I am a pretty tough consumer, and I do not know what the other customers problems are with some of their negative remarks, but these guys were very upfront with me. Yes, some of the products took longer to come in than they said, but other products they told me would take longer came in way ahead of schedule. I would recommend this company to all of my friends. They explained everything to me, they brought a lot of situations to my attention that other companies never did. When I am ready to renovate my Kitchen, front doors, I will not go to anyone else except these guys. There are not very many companies who have such a variety like they do, and they are very knowledgeable with all the products they sell. I am glad my contractor sen more

S&H Hardware is the best hardware store and plumbing supply I have been in since I moved here from Chicago. I cannot believe you can still get old fashioned service,fair prices and they have the most knowledgeable salesman. I had an emergency in one of my rental properties, and if it was not for them on a Saturday, my tenants would have been forced to move out due to my heater breaking down. I also purchased two full bathrooms and my kitchen sink, and faucet from them. They are not the most inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. I priced them against Weinstein Supply in willow grove and on a $425.00 faucet they were $6.00 more but the service I received was worth $50.00 more. I have read some of the negative reviews on this page, and it sounds like they must have a disgruntled employee, or customer, due to the fact, I have never experienced any bad service. Every business cannot satisfy everyone and all it takes is a jerk to write in a negative review. I praise these guys, and I am glad there is still a place like I used to go to when I grew up in Chicago. They are a little (alot) cramped for space, but if you can get over that, try them out. It will be one of the most unforgettable experiences you will ever have. They are great. The owner, I think his name is Harold, knows everything. Just don't try to get over on him, it seems like he can be your best friend, but if you try to cross him, watch out. If you want to buy a faucet for $39.00 they have it and if you want to buy a faucet for $2000.00, they have it to. They have helped me out a number of times, its like my home away from home. I give this place five stars. Stop going to home depot, and go to this place. If people don't support the small business, they will not be able to stay in business. We all forget about things like this until someone goes out of business, and then we say, i should have gone there more often. I give these guys five stars. I've done business with hundreds of retailers and wholesalers in my life. I almost didn't do business with these people because of some of these reviews.....But I'm Glad I Did Business With This Company! First, I went in to buy new shower fixtures because the shower in the home I bought was in terrible disrepair. Instead of selling me new fixtures, this guy Herb told me to go home and get the valves out of my wall. I did so, and he sold me replacement parts for a forty year old shower and made it like new. Saving me thousands of dollars. I've made over a dozen purchases with them since, a couple of those purchases "special order" expensive product. They've delivered almost 100% and they have great customer service. I don't know what it is with some of these reviews, but I can tell you that you probably get what you give. For no reason, they always seemed to go out of their way for me. Yes there were some delays, but that's with everything. Thank You S&H Hardware. I'm a well earned loyal patron. more
