The steak at this one was way below average. I had the filet which is usually hard to mess up, but this one had marble www.onsale7,com nike shoes outlet and little to no flavor. Definitely not prime steak. Very disappointing. The service and ambience was good but overall based on my steak I couldn't recommend this place. more

Great Customer service and good steak!! 2/22/2010

My wife and I had gone there to celebrate my birthday. Reservations were taken perfectly and when we reached there, they correctly pronounced our (complicated) last name!. Our waitress (Linda) gave the best service ever. She was warm and friendly, and even understood by conversation that my wife was a chocoholic and I was not. Even though we ordered one dessert to share (on the house) , she brought my wife a small chocolate mousse dessert. Keep up the cheer and the good service. People WILL notice that. Food was excellent as ever. Pros: Good customer service and good food! Cons: Nothing that I have come across till now!! more

favorite place for a special occasion 11/2/2007

I have been here before and am always impressed. The service is top notch! The last visit was for my anniversary. Upon entering, we were wished a happy anniversary by every staff member that we encountered. The lobster bisque was good. Then came the steak...I am a picky steak eater, but there's is perfect. The sizzling butter that it is served with make the meat so tasty. The side dishes were savory. Towards the middle of the meal, I began getting sick because of being pregnant. We had to leave early. Our server was so gracious and expressed sincere concern for my condition. He even boxed up a complementary piece of chocolate pie to go home with us. I only get to go here once or twice a year, but on a birthday or anniversary, Ruth's Chris will always be my choice! Pros: Food and Service Cons: too pricey to have often more

Bad steak 1/22/2006

I've been to many Ruth's Chris. Usually I have a very good meal. The steak at this one was way below average. I had the filet which is usually hard to mess up, but this one had marble and little to no flavor. Definitely not prime steak. Very disappointing. WRONG...no place in MEM has true #1 Prime grade 9/7/2005

This is a part of a franchised chain/proprietor arrangement....like a lot of OutBacks and BoneFish are becoming.....I think their steak is average, but not worth what they're charging....with everything a la carte of course... No restaurant is getting ""true USDA #1 Prime Grade"" steak in Memphis, TN....heck, you can't hardly get it in places like Miami, or even Atlanta !!......wake up, most true Prime grade cuts get shipped to places like NYC, DC, and Japan (that's a fact !) This was a very good steak house until they moved...loved the old place hated the new... my steak was tough...place was noisy and crowded...and the service was not up to their usual standards either WHAT HAPPENED!!!!! more

Excellent and better in new location 8/28/2004

Ruth's Chris Steak House moved about a year ago to a more prominent location and the layout of the restaruant is much better. The bartender says they are doing twice the bar business. The martini's are top-notch. However, the food is the main attraction, and I'm sure it is consistent with the rest of the chain. The steaks are one of three steakhouses that actually serve ""prime"" (the others are Butcher Shoppe and Folk's Folly) from what I understand and it is rare to find prime cuts (ie: Lonestar and Outback serve choice). Most know about the steaks but try the lobster bisque and in the summer and early fall try the broiled tomatoes. Excellent. The service is always very professional and the ambiance is traditional upscale steakhouse with rich cherrywood. I would not necessarily call it ""romantic"" but it is cosy. THE place for steak 5/20/2004

I would not consider any other resturant in Memphis for an excellent steak dinner. The food is always cooked to perfection, the atmosphere is polished, and the service is great. Snobby Servers 3/11/2004

The best food in the world cannot make a restaurant visit a superior experience if the servers are rude. My party are all college-educated, polite people who have been going out together for over 20 years. We tip well above average, acknowledge that service is sometimes slow through no one's fault, etc. Many of us are former waitresses and bartenders. But when we asked questions at Ruth's Chris about wine and cuts of meat the servers could not have been more rude. Their answers were intended to embarass not inform and they knew very little about wine and less about meat. But it seems they teach their servers that the best defense is a good offense here. At least , they were certainly very offensive servers. We will never return to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. One can obtain the same type of experience at the local bank teller window. All hype, no cattle... 3/7/2004

My experience one afternoon was fair, but when I had to break the 2nd $100 bill, I knew I had made a poor choice. Food, atmosphere, would have been satisfactory had it been priced like Lone Star. This is some of the best eats in Memphis. As long as you can afford it. They mean $$$$ but you really really get what you pay for here. I've been to Ruth's Chris Steak House several times over the past two years and I have ALWAYS gotten excellent service. Once, my date spoke to our waiter in Italian and he actually answered back. The service is great but the food is even better. (HINT....Porterhouse) Pricey but worth it. I can only think of one negative to list - the tables are too close together. Ruth Chris is the tops steak house in Memphis. Excellent food, good service and a more eclectic crowd than Folks Folly. ] Although this is expensive, the food is far superior to Folks. Great steak 9/4/2002

The food is very good and is consistent at Ruth's. The service used to be much better than it is now, though. With the new General Manager came a young, inexperienced wait staff. The last G.M. was very professional and made you feel special; as did the staff. I hope when the restaurant moves in October they get new management and wait staff. Ruth's Chris, it is the same in every city. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Have done Folk's Folly. It is like comparing Mercedes to a Lincoln. Both are nice, but one clearly has something extra. more
