Worst

Okay, the menu is way too large! I think they need to pare it down quite a bit and just focus on making those items really well. Nice ambiance is nonexistent. It reminded me of...

Bad sushi, great party atmosphere 8/29/2007

SUSHI IS SO GROSS!!! It's not fresh at all! I used to love going there but after trying different places I realized that Rusans is a trick! Their prices are cheap so you get cheap food. But it is good for big crowds, I went once in a group of 26 and we had a great time, but the food is gross. Their sake menu is pretty good though. more

Don't waste your time 8/27/2007

I have been to Ru San's now two times and have decided never again. The sushi is below par, smothered in sauce, and basically thrown together. The sushi chefs ( guys) basically throw the food together. There is a huge menu but if anything it is extremely distracting and hard to find certain rolls. It took us two hours to recieve our sushi-> table of 3 on a wensday night and the one girl in our group who ordered hibachi recieved her food 20 minutes before us. I will never go there again. It may be cheap but the sushi is not very good. more

Worst Sushi ever! 8/27/2007

Worst Sushi ever! Sushi is as much about presentation and atmosphere as is about the food, and RuSan's presentation and atmosphere were less than poor. We didn't get sick after eating our meals, so the fish wasn't spoiled. But, had we not been in a hurry and unfamiliar with Atlanta, we would have walked out immediately after being greeted by a Mexican host and waiter in a Sushi restaurant. Not recommended! Cons: Poor presentation and atmosphere, below average food more

Pseudo Sushi! 8/1/2007

I've been going to Ru-Sans for a while now, at least a couple years on a semi-regular basis. I like it quite a bit. A lover of sushi, such as me, may love it, if they get past the fact that the sushi is cooked. Well at least some of it. There's the tradditional plain salmon, tuna, etc. kind of rolls, and then there is other kinds that aren't as traditional, an American twist on the old favorites. They could use less mayonaise-esque sauces, and tone some of the flavors down a bit. But some of it is just too good. I personally only go for the lunch buffet, getting all the kinds I can find, and loving a mojority of it all. There are even some non-sushi items, such as wings, rice, and dessert ""poofs"" (heh ^_^) . The music tops off the atmosphere, making it fun, edgy, and relaxing.... Well, except the loud parts. Hopefully Ru-Sans may either expand, or get more attentive dining staff. They tend to get forgetful during rushes upon rushes of customers. But when there's only five tables filled... It's heaven for the fun, casual diner, or even a four-teen year-old by him-or-her self. Pros: Ambience, friendly cooks, and food. Cons: Rush Hour=Noise and Lack of Service more

Fun on a Roll 6/25/2007

Sushi is delicious and the atmosphere is all fun. We like to sit at the sushi bar and talk to the chefs. They usually make us something special for having fun with them. We have gone there with big parties but it is very noisy if you looking to have any meaningful conversations. I really enjoy it as a date place. Pros: Fun Atmosphere Cons: Noisy for Conversation more

The MacDonald's of Sushi 1/7/2007

I've been to dozens of sushi restaurants in the Atlanta area, and this was the 2nd worst. Yechh!\r \r The fish was not fresh, and the preparation was overkill. Instead of relying on fresh ingredients and simple presentation, the rolls were prepared with overpowering sauces, preventing the diner from enjoying the flavors of the primary ingredients. Many of the specialty rolls were prepared with gobs of mayonaise-based sauces, once again taking the focus away from the fish. It was as if the chefs were trying to provide sushi for people who don't really want a sushi experience. If authentic sushi is filet mignon, this pseudo-sushi was a Big-Mac . . . too eager to please, and ultimately, a shoddy imitation.\r \r The wait was over 30 minutes (no big deal, it was a Saturday night and we didn't have a res.). The atmosphere is loud and boisterous, which I enjoyed, but others may not. The menu is overwhelmingly large, and our server, though very polite and effecient, spoke with such a thick accent it was difficult for both sides to communicate.\r \r Not every sushi dinner needs to be MF Sushi, for for inexpensive and fresh sushi, you'd be much better to visit Yami Sushi or Sushi Avenue.\r \r Sorry Ru-San, you Ru-suck. Pros: Fun, lively place Cons: Poor food and preparation. Over-the-top menu. more

best sushi! 11/16/2006

Excellent presentation of a delicious variety of sushi delicacies! Great, fun atmosphere. Lots of good food and good times. And they have saki! Pros: saki, sushi, fun Cons: smoking is allowed : ( more

Great casual sushi bar 10/30/2006

Perhaps not for the purists, Ru San's is consistently tasty and definitely the best sushi for the dollar in Atlanta. Huge menu. Yes, it's noisy when it's full, but that is part of the fun. Get a selection of sake shots and one of the ginormous combinations (Power Builder or Protein Bomb) and stuff yourself. Mmm, sushi. Pros: Great sushi value Cons: Quiet conversation impossible on busy nights more

Good sushi but not great 4/10/2006

This is a great place to introduce yourself to a lot of different kinds of sushi. The value is reasonable and the sake list is good. I liked the TVs, music and other cultural elements that come through with deafening noise but others thought the place was a little hard. That said, the one in my area, off Piedmont and Monroe needs more of a bar. The one at Lenox has a better bar and good patio space, although do you really want to look out on Piedmont? Pros: Sushi, Japanese Techno Cons: waits more

you get what you pay for 3/9/2006

the title says it all. although this place serves sushi for really reasonable price, fish is not very fresh. Pros: price Cons: food more

RuSans lunch buffett RULES! 9/21/2005

I have been eating at RuSans pretty regularly over the past year or so and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The first few times i went for dinner and everything was wonderful and relatively inexpensive. But then...i went for the lunch buffett. Its all-you-can-eat anf its around $8.00. The nigiri on the buffett is always fresh and wonderul. While it can be crowded at lunch and sometimes its tough to get your server, i HIGHLY recommend it! Pros: price, quality, good parking Cons: a little noisy, can be crowded, techno music more

good times! 6/12/2005

I went to RuSan's for the first time last weekend. I was impressed. They have a huge menu filled with delicious choices from sashimi to fried rolls filled with tempting ingredients. They also have entrees for the non-sushi people in your group. The service was speedy and friendly. And, the price is right. The atmosphere is a bit loud, so if you're looking for a quiet dining experience, it may not be the place for you. Although, if you go early i've heard it's not as boisterous. Pros: great sushi, great service, great price Cons: loud more

To Go is the Way... 6/5/2005

If you are looking for some good and cheap sushi, RuSan's the place to go. Most of the time, I call in to place my order (about 4~6 servings) and they usually take about 15~20 minutes to prepare them. Usually when I get there they are all wrapped up and ready to go home with me :-). Yes, they are pretty Americanized, but if you are looking for traditional sushi you shouldn't be here (maybe a few blocks down the street). Yes, they are pretty loud. That's why I get my order to go. But, go during lunch time. They are not as loud. Pros: Cheap sushi, friendly servers, delicious dishes Cons: Loud more

REALLY loud! 5/26/2005

Although the sushi was good, the whole experience was unpleasantly loud! When you walk in, waiters are yelling at you and, then, everytime anyone else walks in the waiters are yelling at them. I guess this is kindof ""cute"" for some folks, but the food was not so great for me that I would want to go back and sit through a whole meal of that. I could not hear anyone talking who was sitting at my table. We really had to shout! There are too many other really good sushi spots in Atl to go that are not so invasive. more

how can I put it into words? 1/30/2005

Coming from Sanfran I have been eating Sushi since I can remember, and this is some of the best sushi in town. more

i'm a regular 9/7/2004

i go to rusan's at least once a week. i have eaten sushi at almost all of atlanta's other big/popular sushi restaurants, but rusan's by ansley mall is my favorite. the sushi is inexpensive and good. the chicken fried rice is the best i've ever had. the atmosphere is very fun. more

good and bad 3/7/2004

I have only been to the Buckhead location. The food is tasty and priced right, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO the service is piss-poor. It takes FOREVER to get your food, they forget items, they barely speak english and I go home wondering why I bother. The reason I go though is the food is quite yummy. I ought to drive down to the midtown location and give them one more chance. Pros: large varied menu, inexpensive, good parking Cons: , loud more
