Fantastic as always 11/16/2011

Rudy's is the best BBQ. Ever. Especially the original location. Though you might be tempted to only order the delicious brisket and sausage, but don't pass up the turkey. It's should not be missed. Also, a tip-- If you're ordering for takeout, there is a separate place to pick up in the back so you don't have to wait in the normal line. Check it out! more

Inedible..Too Much Pepper on Ribs 2/24/2010

Ordered the Pork Ribs.. They had WAY TOO MUCH black pepper on them and we couldn't finish them. They were very bad!!\r \r Order something else, please! Cons: Couldn't Finish the Ribs more

amazing bbq 1/28/2010

man this was my first taste of tx bbq and i fell in love. I got the ribs, brisket and turkey they were all on point. The sauce is peppery and perfectly spiced perfectly. I did not order any sides but im told the cream of corn is the best. \r \r I went there in uniform and they automatically gave me a military discount as well as thanking for service.\r \r I loved how when you walk in the room is full of smoke and the smell of good meats cooking. Put a big smile on my face. Pros: amazing with or without sauce, military discount!! more

Best BBQ Ever!!!1 5/18/2008

I was in town for business and a Riverwalk information ranger told us about Rudy's. It was easy to find, but a few miles from the RIverwalk. Pros: Just great BBQ Cons: Outdoor picnic tables are just fine more

Excellent Ribs, Interesting Experience 9/4/2006

The country store with a service station out front, we didn't know what to expect. The to-go line was long but the wait was brief and the food worth a wait. The baby backs were spiced with a great rub - sauce on the side (very good). Their service was fast and polite. We had some potato salad and it was also very good. Eat there or take it home, it is very good and a must for those visiting San Antonio. If you are military there is a discount as well. Pros: Great value and great taste and a fun experience more

Better than Bill Miller's. 10/29/2005

Our first night in San Antonio we wanted something to eat, but we didn't want to go far from our campground. While driving into San Antonio my mom had noticed Rudy's. We decided on going there for dinner. Man, what an experience. Very friendly service and just an all around nice feel. The food was good, the prices were good, and the service was good. Rudy's is much better than Bill Miller's. Highly Recommended. more

Seriously good BBQ! 9/5/2005

I was in San Antonio for 6 days and ate at Rudy 3 nights! Your stand in line to order and you can eat inside the country store or outside on picnic beches. Their Pork Ribs and ""Chopped"" (turkey and brisket together a sauce that you eat on white bread) are out of this worlkd fabulous! They always give you a taste of something you didn't order. We love their creamed corn and lemonade pie, too. They serve everything in plastic crates on wax paper. No plates here! It's fun and just plain good eatin'!! Pros: Food, Great prices, Friendly service more

Complaint 3/2/2004

Their food is very greasy. For the person who is conscious about ""lean"" or healthier choices of meat, Rudy's does not have it. Their chicken is soak overnight in big barrels of butter & heaven know what. When you ask for the brisket, it is all marbled with fat and their is no lean cuts without all the marble. Very often it is very dry and you do have to soak it in their BBQ Sauce to get it ""moist"". I guess that is why they sell a lot of their BBQ Sauce. The food is too expensive for the ""cheap"" cuts of meat! Cons: , no one moves the line more

Rudy's Country Store & Barbeque 8/4/2003

Rudy's is the best barbeque we have found in all of our travels. It is much better than the barbeque at Salt Lick. Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking, Line moves quickly more

the best 1/10/2003

I lived in SA for two years and was a Rudy's regular. When in town I would eat there a few times a week. I now use their rub on almost everything I cook! I can not understand places like County Line and most of all Bill Miller's getting better ratings. In two years living in San Antonio, I met ZERO people that like Bill Miller. I also met ZERO that didn't like Rudy's. The staff is very friendly and they hand out samples while you wait for your food. Damn I miss Rudy's! Pros: great food, great time, great prices Cons: a little far, long lines more

Not to be missed!! 12/14/2002

I got a tip from an ex-S.A. friend on places to eat while I was in town for a long weekend. After exhausting his ""in-town"" recommendations, I thought I'd check out Rudy's. The fact that'd he'd recommended a place that was something of a drive, for someone who'd never been in town before, made me curious. Oh my gosh, was it ever worth the trip!!! The barbecue was fabulous, and the creamed corn is not to be missed! I'm a starving student in NYC, but if I ever get rich and famous, Rudy's is the kind of thing I'd pay to have flown in! Pros: sauce, creamed corn!, good value Cons: none I can think of more

Old Fashioned BBQ, but Great Sauce 11/27/2002

Never before have I tried a sauce like Rudy's which is either spicy of mild, depending on what you like. It's the best I've ever had. Depending on what you like, they have a wide variety of selections of meats from turkey, to brisket, chopped meat, sausage, and chicken. I'm a big brisket fan, so I always have to get the brisket, but the turkey is great too. Also, don't forget the sides like potato salad, baked beans, etc. Deserts are available as well. Another great feature is the to-go service. A great place for great food. Pros: BBQ Sauce, Great meats, To-Go Service Cons: A tad bit expensive more

Worst BBQ in San Antonio 8/13/2002

Rudy's BBQ is the most awesome eatery in San Antonio. Slabs of beef brisket, ribs, pork....even chicken, with loaves of bread and the wickedest BBQ sauce on the planet. Pros: Food, BBQ Sauce, Ambience Cons: Parking, Crowds more
