Rudy's Barbershop is terrible 8/15/2007

I went there for the first time after calling in and getting on the waiting list. I arrived on time but was skipped by no less than six people. They passed over me and never called my name - even though there was a star by my name showing that I had called in. I had no time left on the parking meter, and no time left in the day for such nonsense. I left and will never return. I heard on the Internet that they do this sometimes - so BEWARE!! more

Rudy's haircuts are faux-hip. 3/8/2006

Walking into a Rudy's is like getting hit in the face with a 2 x 4 of coolness. The majority of my experiences (unfortunately there have been a few) have been at this U-district location, but they appear to be the same across the board. I'm pretty confident that by opening locations in college areas and young neighborhoods, they expect to get by on tattooed stylists and cigarette sales alone. Haircuts really have little to do with it. I'd be totally willing to sit through talking about upcoming shows, how cool Capitol Hill is and how much I hate Bush, if I didn't walk out with uneven and lackluster hair. The final straw came when a friend and I were referring to each other as 'Triangle Head' and 'Poodle Fro' two minutes after exodus. The price tag and blasting Rock 'N Roll makes the Rudy's learning experience somewhat inevitable to young Seattle newcomers. 2 stars because it's cheap and quick. If you have to do it...learn fast. more

Finally a decent haircut! 11/2/2005

I have spent most of my adult life getting my hair cut by my friends and family, because whenever I go to a salon, I always get the cut that the hairdresser wants me to have. This is not so here! I walked in one Saturday and had to wait about a half hour but it was worth it. I can't remember the woman's name who cut my hair, but she did a great job. She asked me what I wanted, gave me suggestions, but in the end gave me the cut I wanted. As well, the price was reasonable. She was so nice, she gave me a bumber sticker. I saw one on her mirror and thought it was really funny, so she gave me an extra she had. How cool is that! I would definitely recommend popping into this Rudy's for your next cut. more

Affordable consistent quality hair cuts 10/9/2005

My boyfriend always gets his hair cut here (the one located in Fremont) and they do a great job. He does not always go to the same stylist so I think they all must be pretty good since he consistently comes out with a good cut. They pay good attention to detail and the prices are pretty cheap. I'm not sure if you can make appointments, but I think you usually just go in and put your name on the list and then wait like 15 minutes or so. They do cuts for men and women, and they are open late so you can get a hair cut after work. Update - my sister also recently got her hair cut here and it came out very nice. She just wanted a simple trim and that's what she got. more

Rudy's Barbershop - U-District 8/16/2005

Well past my college years prime, I still haul myself up to the U-District Rudy's every three to five weeks for a great haircut at a decent price. The staff is friendly, even when I come in looking like a yuppie lawyer and clearly don't blend in with the U-District crowd and tatted/pierced employees. I rated Rudy's great not perfect because once every few months, the barber will miss edging my ears; I did have one bad haircut there about five years ago, but I never saw that guy again, so why hold it against them. The price for a men's haircut is steeper than I think it should be at $17, but I was raised on great cheap true barbershop haircuts in the Bronx. Given the general price inflation in Seattle, this is still a pretty good value, plus you can get a free haircut after every ten haircuts. more

Cheap quick haircut 7/26/2005

Rudy's has several convenient locations in Seattle in Capitol Hill, U District, and Phinney Ridge. They offer quick frills but good haircuts at a very reasonable price. They also provide great buzzcuts. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, but usually it's not too long, especially if you can avoid busy times, such as Saturday. more
