RPM Automotive-Philips Highway

I took my 04 silverado to RPM for an oil change and it was fairly quick. The price for the oil change was around $30.00 which was'nt bad. The building was very clean and has a nice lobby to wait for your car. I take all my cars in to RPM for regular maintence and never have problems. more

My truck stopped blowing cool from the air conditioner. The lady said it would take about an hour and a half to charge and diagnose it. They had it for about 15 minutes, said they completely charged it and it cost me $199.00. I got in the truck and it still was blowing hot. I went back inside and the guy behind the counter (very rude) said he would have them look at it again but that it would take a couple of more hours. He called me 20 minutes later and told me that the compressor was bad and that it would cost $1,100.00 to repair it. I asked him what I paid the $199.00 for and he said "diagnosis" (even though the lady told me it was blowing nice and cold now). In essence, I paid $199.00 for nothing. What is worse is that they operate their ripoff under the guise of a "christian" business with "integrity". PLEASE DONT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE RIPOFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was such a memorable experience! I dropped off my car for a service. The website mentions they offer a ride. I had also confirmed this multiple times over the phone. I drop my car, and the person drops me home. When I call and ask when they would pick me up the manager rudely says they dont pick up. The other lady then after lot of discussions says she will arrange for somene She puts me on hold and the manager comes back on phone and screams at me Yes what is it now? I said i was put on hold. He says fine she has arranged to pick you up But do not ever come back for business here in an extremely rude tone! Wow In the US i have never seen any person behave so rude. Finally a person came to pick me back, he was polite and apologized but back at the store the manager says my car service was not done as I had asked for a pickup. I fail to understand how both are connected. I don't know if this discrimination is based on country origin. It's sad to see that this person does not even know how to talk to people. A very weird person I have come across. Just to help people - if you're not an american think twice befre you go here. Cleanest, fanciest mechanic in the city and YOU are paying for it. This place is the biggest RIP OFF in Jacksonville. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Over $800 for brake repairs? $1200 to $1500 to fix my engine? I could have it completely rebuilt for that. I had a second opinion from another mechanic. He quoted $540 - $650 for the entire engine repair plus towing! Needless to say that mechanic got my business. I told him what RPM's was charging and he was incredulous! Have talked to numerous others about this and when I told them that it was RPM's that was charging so much, they all understood then. I have talked to at least 15 people who are familiar with RPM's and they ALL laugh and basically have told me to NEVER take my car there because they are so over priced. I felt like everyone knew but me. So, I'm letting anyone who doesn't know to NEVER USE RPM's. I understand that business is business and profits have to be made, but RPM's is beyond highway robbery. Pros: Sparkling clean. You wouldn't know you were at a mechanics if not for the name. Cons: You get to pay WAY more than you should so they can look nice. more
