Royal Thai Cuisine

The chef came out and mentioned several items and we decided on the Perch Special. We also ordered Pad Thai and a curry - Masamn Curry. We took friends from California who love Thai. We had never been to Royal Thai before so we had asked friends and decided to give it a try. WOW! Superb - Fresh and wonderful flavors! Our friends said it was the best they had ever had! Only ONE draw back is no liquor license yet - but we didn't ask if we could bring our own - suggest you do that if you go - but DO GOOOOOOOOO! more

What a great Thai Restaurant !!! big portions. I really like the atmosphere and the nice size of the restaurant. Everything we got was very tasty: good beef numtok salad, delicious soup and excellent basil cripy duck. I'd say its a good place to take your parents, friends and family for a decent diner. I went to the Royal Thai the other night for my friend's birthday. I ordered the Basil duck and the Snapper special. What a great dish!!! A +++++++. I definitely go back there for more great thai food. more

My wife and I decided we would try this since we live around the corner. Our meals were lacking in flavor and the sauce was like a watery soup.\r Huge waste of $30! I think we will stick with Shallots for our Thai food! more

This place is great, I have eaten here 250 times. I cant find anything better. Cons: Once you eat here the other Thai food is disappointing more

First impression upon walking in at midday is that the place is dark and in need of more light. The lunch menu ranges $7.95 to $9.95 and includes a choice of soap or egg roll. I wanted Pud Thai but that was under the dinner menu, not the lunch menu, not sure why. I choose the Mango Chicken instead. The accompanying soup was the Thai chicken soup with coconut milk. The soup was watery and it lacked the normally wonderful zing that lime leaves and lemongrass add to this soup – verdict, disappointing. My Mango Chicken plate came with rice, but again, what should have been a tangy mango sauce ended up being a overly sweet sauce, like you find in cheep Chinese restaurants. It was so sweet that it overpowered the dish and I pushed it away. Add pieces of chicken that were tough and well this dish is a definite failure. For this I paid $10. Not a good experience. Royal Thai is one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. I'm not Thai but I am Asian. I'm picky about my Thai food and dishes. I've eaten at many other Thai restaurants in metro Atlanta but no restaurant beats Royal Thai! I highly recommend to others who love Thai food for authentic Thai cuisine. more

This is one of the BEST Thai restaurants in Atlanta. (Coming from a Thai person) The food is like REAL homecooked Thai food like my Thai mom makes. If you stop by, you have to try the BEST tea rose, num tok, and coconut soup in town. This is one of the few places that make the tea rose hand made. You can tell a huge difference between the home made ones and the frozen ones at other places. The meat used in the num tok is actually steak! Also try the soft shell crab. It is a small cozy place with a small family atmosphere. You will usually be served by either the owner or her son. This place has stood the test of time. more

This restaurant was one of the first Thai places OTP, and is still one of the best. Reliably consistent good, traditional Thai dishes including curries, pad thai, spring rolls, and fish. Beware when ordering, the spice level tends to be high even by Thai standards. Very small place, but elegantly decorated, with booths and a ceiling made of elegantly carved wood. Service is smooth, quiet and efficient. My only objection is that the prices have risen over the years, in some cases beyond what I consider good value for the dishes served - be sure to ask the price before ordering any ""specials"". Also very good for takeout, since they're located right at the major Spalding/Holcomb Bridge intersection. more
