Royal Thai Asian Grill

I have two experiences to report. First, we ordered our dinner for delivery and were told it would take about 30 - 45 minutes to arrive. After an hour and 15 we called wondering where our order was. The woman on the phone had no idea and then said she found the order and it wasn't cooked yet. She said another 20 minutes and it'd be on its way. Another 45 minutes goes by and we still don't have our order. The same lady answers the phone when I call and again and says our order is on its way and also offers to comp our entire meal next time we order. Finally, after two hours our dinner arrives. \r \r Tonight, we call to order our comped meal and I'm told that yes they'll still comp my meal however they're really busy so if I want it for free, I'll have to come and get it because they can't let me have free food and delay their driver delivering it to us. So, I say ""that's fine"" and she lets me know my order will be ready in 30 minutes but maybe longer...That call ended at 6:15. At 6:30, I leave my house, go to the grocery store for 30 minutes and get to Royal Thai at 7:00. The lady tells me that its still not ready and to wait. Another 30 minutes goes by (another couple comes in, sits down, isn't waited on for more than 15 minutes and gets up and leaves) and they finally bring out our dinner. In the box, they put two hot mustard packets and four soy sauces. I asked very nicely if I could please have more and a guy comes out from the kitchen and tells me that they already put some in my box and if I want more I need to pay for it. $1 per packet. The man tells me ""what do you expect when you don't pay for your meal.""\r \r My family and I will NEVER go back to this restaurant again. EVER! If you'd like a wonderful restaurant to eat at in Arvada, try Chopstix. The food is absolutely wonderful and the wait staff is prompt and friendly. more

We have ordered take out a number of times, and noticed that the newer management that took over a few years ago would always round up the bill, and couldn't explain how he got to that total. When we questioned this, we were told some lame excuses for why the pricing was different than anticipated (esp. when using a 10% off coupon). We normally tip 10% on take out, so we just stopped tipping there. But because it was so close and convenient and usually pretty good (EXCEPT FOR THE PAD THAI, WHICH IS HORRIBLE), we continued to order from there. Well tonight was the last straw. It may seem like a small violation, but it was the straw that broke the camel's back. We called and ordered a single dessert (Mango with Sticky Rice) to go. When my wife walked in, she checked the price on the wall, which stated it was $3.95. She calculated in her head that the total should be close to $4.30. Instead the manager brought her the credit card receipt that showed he had charged her $6! When she asked him about this, he said it was because of the credit card cost and there was a minimum of $5. She told him she had cash and would have used it, had he told her, but he said it was too late and it was already charged. He said, now you know for next time. She told him there would not be a next time! There is a huge difference in a 3% credit card charge (or a $5 minimum) and a 30% mark up! This guy is a habitual scammer and we would strongly discourage others from patronizing this place unless they change their practices. It is illegal, and immoral and just not how business is done in Arvada, CO, USA! more

We live in West Arvada... a great place to live, but not when you are talking restaurants. Royal Thai is no exception to that rule. Its just terrible. First off, when you order pad thai and they do not ask you if you want it hot, medium or mild, that should be a warning sign. It tastes like canned Pad Thai that is sweet, soupy and lacking in flavor. Even our kids who absolutely love thai food never want to eat there again after two visits. Some of the other dishes on the menu came out more like cheap chinese food than Thai food in our opinion. Conveniently close it may be, but we choose to drive the 15 - 20 min and get spectacular Thai at US Thai off Sheridan instead. The review before was so harsh. This place is what it is. Its American Thai. They are pleasant on the phone, the food was good. Everything you are looking for in a cheap, cheerful place. I like it! We started going here when we got mailers of thare grande opening. The food was pretty scrumptios at first but quality was not consistant on each visit. Sometimes was downrite bad. The servers are not very friendly I thot because of cultral diffrences maybe. It's not the chase tho because one time they brought our dinner to us and we felt it was improprly cooked. A short young Asian woman with glasses was sent out from the kitchen and she was SO RUDE to us. She kept asking wht the matter was. she didn't seem to want to really help. She told us we are bad customers for her restaurant. I asked if she was the manager and she said yes. when I asked her name she wouldn't tell me tho. She said YOU DON'T NEED MY NAME. WHY YOU NEED MY NAME? \r \r We asked for our check. They didn't even try to discount for the bad entree or to replace it to-go for us. This experience iced the cake for us. They ruined our dinner night out. \r Royal Thai was downrite rude to us. And whats more is that we were going in there alot. They dont care to help or provide good service to even regular customers. Its bad. \r \r We wont giev them any mroe busienss. WE even tell peopel to avoid them. Theres a MUCH BETTER Thai Restaruant in Arvada called Thai Chili (on Yukon & Ralston). They deliver and their service is actually very accomodating. They have a nice patio. The food is good consistently. ONly one time did we have to send back food and they were so good about it like a professional establishment shoudl always be.
