My new favorite restaurant!! 12/22/2008

The food and the atmosphere are amazing. It's a great spot for a quiet dinner or a night out with a group of friends. I've been back several times since I was introduced to Rose by a friend who found it on citysearch and I have never been disappointed - in fact, I keep finding new things to love about it each time. Great wine selection, wonderful service, and live music upstairs - what could be better? Pros: everything Cons: none more

A special restaurant with an amazing atmosphere 10/14/2008

Right on Grand Street in the ever so popular Williamsburg sits this beautiful place called Rose. The outside is a sign that says Rose that is lit up red and has the old school feeling right away. You walk in and right away there is a welcoming feeling right away ...the bar is right there on the right, and there is a lounge type area on the left facing a semi-stage that has live music going every night. You cannot beat getting into a place for free and listening to the Colombian cuatro player, harpest, and pianist...jazz type music that just lures you into listening for hours. Wines by the bottle or glass, and a bar with just about everything! The outdoor lounge is romantic, and peaceful...the vines are growing grapes, and the atmosphere is quiet and beautiful. Downstairs is what really made me the happiest... a beautiful wine cellar looking restaurant. Meditteranean style italian food. Eclectic choices. Amazing tastes. I had the lasagna, my girlfriend had the pesto pasta, and my other friend had the warm spinach salad. We had glasses or Rose', lots of laughs, and finished it off with the chocolate mousse. The experience was amazing, we cannot wait to go back. We are already planning all of our birthday dinners here. Our new home. The owners have stories that they can tell you for hours... they will keep you smiling in delight. Say hi to Carlo and Gina, they will be happy you joined their family at Rose. Pros: Carlo and Gina the owners, the menu of delicious food downstairs, the atmosphere, and the music more

Perfect Combo 6/10/2008

Rose Bar is a really nice combination of live jazzy music that you can sit and watch from little tables or hanging out at the bar. The dim lights with lots of candles create a cool atmosphere, not snobby at all. They do serve food now, an Italian menu with appetizers, lots of cheeses, and main dishes that you would expect (The owners are from Italy). They have a good selection of wines and beers and mixed drinks, too. You really can't go wrong here any night of the week on a date, with friends for drinks, dinner, whatever. Pros: music, atmosphere Cons: none more

Great place for live music or just hang out 11/27/2006

Homey, cool, cozy, and hip. Not much else to say really. The live music is great. I was there when Avashai Cohen was playing and was very impressed with the layout and acoustics of Rose. Was also impressed with the caliber of talent on their calendar at the time: Jason Linder, Yah Supreme and Brohemian, and Dafnis Prieto Quartet. At the 2nd exit of the Williamsburg bridge it's well within striking distance for Manhattanites even without the live music. The place just has a good energy. Pros: Homey atmosphere, acoustics for live music, talented artists Cons: No food, but I hear this is coming more

Great Atmosphere, Amazing Music 9/6/2006

I was walking down Grand St. in WillyB's and was drawn to the bright pink sign declaring, "Rose Live Music". Walking in was a cozy, romantically lit bar, and a small stage with a jazz quartet warming up. A few of the tables were occupied by youthful hipsters, european transfers, and other Williamsburg locals, casually sipping drinks and enjoying the music. A few nights later I returned to find a funk band and people dancing their asses off. Great spot for live music. Good sound and a truly intimate feel between the artists and the audience. The drinks were stiff and resonably priced ($7 for a maker's on the rocks). Great place to bring a date after dinner if you're in Williamsburg. Pros: great music, intimate setting, outdoor deck Cons: no food more

The Best Live Music and Restaurant in Williamsburg!

Editorial
  • In Short
Follow the pink neon light to find Rose, the first live music venue to land on Williamsburg's Grand Street stretch. The owner has personalized the space with familial touches--his grandmother's patterened chintz and sepia-toned wallpaper, shipped from Europe, dresses up a dark wood room filled with the usual booths. The mostly admission-free performances pull from the world over--see Latin jazz, tango and Afro-beat shows, and sometimes a set from a local DJ.
