Margarita's are ok... 3/18/2008

I have lived in San Antonio for 2 years now. My first year here was down town with the river walk and all of the ""best"" and ""original"" Mexican restaurants. My 2nd year here has been in suburbia with all of the local chains. I have experienced my fair share of Mexican food. Pros: Nice upbeat ambience. Cons: Food/Service/too crowded more

Disappointing First Visit 3/14/2008

I had very high expectations for this restaurant because it is touted as the best authenticTex-Mex in San Antonio. I ordered the chicken breast with poblano cream sauce. The sauce was good, but the chicken breast was one of those horrible spongey things that are pumped full of salt and chemicals. The chocolate flan was equally disappointing because it was not an authentic flan. It seemed like a mousse in the shape of flan. It tasted good, but can't we have some consistency in food names so we can have a reasonable expectation of what we are getting? The roasted pepper salsa was flavorful and not too hot. Our waiter took my complaint about the chicken to the manager who deleted it from my bill. We took the advice of other reviewers and dined during off-hours so we wouldn't have to contend with a huge crowd. That worked for us. Pros: Ambiance, salsa Cons: poor quality chicken breasts, inaccurate naming of food items more

great food and atmosphere! 6/4/2007

great food and atmosphere! everyone in our group (of 5) enjoyed their meals. live music was fun, too. Pros: great food, music, value Cons: First Fridays are crowded more

Food Ok, Drinks are Better 10/31/2006

This is a great place to go for drinks!! First friday of the month this is the most crowded place due to an arts festival held in the neighborhood. Appetizers are good, the food is alright, always served scalding hot! The decor kicks butt!! more

The absolute best shrimp tacos in the world 2/22/2006

If you are in San Antonio this is the place you have to visit. Dont go sight seeing just go to Rosario's; there is where everyone is anyway. The best Margaritas and the best shrimp tacos in the world. Bartenders are fast and the waiters are the nicest. Pros: margaritas , shrimp tacos , the staff Cons: parking, that's it , not a thing else more

SA's secret to the BEST margaritas! 2/7/2006

Whether for lunch or dinner, alone or in group, for pleasure or business, the place to go for awesome, authentic Mexican food, a great time, and the BEST margaritas is Rosario's. Its eclectic and vibrant atmosphere is intoxicating. Its food is authentic and original. My personal favorite is Pollo a la Maria, a charbroiled chicken breast, topped with a cilantro and garlic based sauce. Its original to Rosario's (as far as I know). Their shrimp and fish tacos are indisputably the best! They are served with their very own cabbage lime slaw that makes them mouth watering. Margaritas - you must have the Mexican Handshake, served on the rocks in a beautiful and festive glass prepared with Sauza Hornitos tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, toped with Grand Marnier! In summary, if you haven't gone, you have to go! If you have and haven't returned you don't know what you're missing. Pros: Authentic Food, Low Prices, Great service Cons: maybe just parking, none other more

Have the Beef Fajita and Shrimp plate! 9/5/2005

The atmosphere at Rosarios is unique to say the least. The atomosphere reflects what San Antonio Culture is all about - (artistic, friendly and down home). From their fresh tasting and very delicous salsa - the best salsa I have ever had, Beef Fajita and Shrimp plate (very delicious and affordable) to their frozen Margarita's, Rosarios is an excellent place to meet friends and family for a nice and relaxing dinner. Rosarios is definitely a place to check out. Pros: Atmosphere, Food Quality, Salsa Music Cons: Parking more

I love Rosario's 3/10/2005

THis place is really busy, has great food, great music, and is full of good looking and fun people. The waitstaff are always friendly, never mind that Rosario's is usually totally slammed. There may be a long wait, but if you're interested in having the best ceviche in town, it's worth it. Pros: cool people, awesome ceviche, festive atmosphere Cons: parking, loud, only 1 location more

TRy the Fish Tacos 4/6/2004

Come early and try the fish tacos and stay late for the music. Usually a line but the wait is worth it. Pros: inexpensive, fresh food, MARGARITAS muy beuno Cons: , loud, loud more

The Best Place in Town! 2/12/2004

I disagree with the person who said that this place has no ambiance! This is one of the most unique and wonderful restaurants San Antonio has to offer. People should go to Rosario's and enjoy the margaritas...and definately not worry about waiting for your table (like the other gentleman said). I have never thought the wait was too long...in fact a few times we have told the waiter/waitress to wait a little longer...we were not quite ready to be seated. The band that plays on the weekend is wonderful! The enchiladas with the white cream sauce are great and the grilled shrimp is outstanding (I cannot recall the spanish name). Excellent food! Outstanding service! Pros: Excellent food, Great service, Best Margaritas! more

Disappointed 8/12/2003

Up until a few days ago I had never eaten at Rosario's and needless to say I was disappointed that it was not all it's cranked up to be. Great for tourists that have only experienced the fast food taco chains. Too start off our party reservations were for 730 PM and we didn't get seated until 845 PM. A good ploy to get you to suck down some drinks while you wait. The place has such terrible acoutics that the noise of normal conversation just reverberates along with the loud music. Not to mention the clattering of dishes and flatware. The food was not tasty at all, my meat was salty and there were some uncooked or dry grains of rice. Sorry Rossy but asta la vista baby. Pros: Great salsa, Food smelled good Cons: Raw rice, Extremely noisy more

Not all it's cracked up to be 6/29/2003

We went with a small group (7) on a Saturday evening. It was our 1st time there having heard many raves about the place. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't at all what we expected. The whole place was extremely loud, there was a little food on a lotta plate and we all left talking about where to go next for dessert. Two of the meals excluded ingredients mentioned on the menu. One meal was wrong. My daughter's nachos (her meal) were paper thin with minimal ingredients--the beans must have been spread with a putty knife (you had to lift the cheese to find the brown ""line"" of beans on the nacho). Service was good; but seemed to be too concerned with the party of approximately 50 next to us. Very disappointing, expensive, loud, and ""light, not filling!"" Pros: Location, Service Cons: Parking, Value, Too noisy more

unconditionally the best 1/16/2003

words cannot discribe their greatness. i will take all of my family/friends from out of town here. more

Noisy, poor parking 1/14/2003

The Food was good. But if noise and the hassle of parking is not for you, look elsewhere. The food did have a different direction than most of our Tex-mex eateries and enjoyed the different salsas. Don't drink so the mixed were of no interest as well as more noise in a live band. If your with group from out of town than it might be a fun environment. more

grrrreat dancin but.... 1/12/2003

the food was not at all great. the waiter wasn't attentive at all! but it was all about the dancin the band was on !!!! the band was great ! i danced so much my hips hurt. so if you wanna go just to get your latin dance on then do it! and fyi the band doesn't start playing till 10pm. Pros: good band Cons: bad parking, too loud, crowded more

Good Food 9/9/2002

Fajitas were good and also the stuffed pepper. Try there margarita or the Strawberry daquari (perfect for if you don't like alcohol that much...tastes more like a strawberry smoothie) Pros: Inexpensive Cons: LOUD more

great place to dance 7/8/2002

The food here is good if you don't mind the wait. The best thing about this resturant though is the great salsa bands they bring in on fridays. Its very rare that they don't have a good band. There are lots of great dancers and fun to be had. They could use a bigger dance floor though. more
