Sucker 6/20/2010

Came here for some chips and queso and margaritas. I've had the food at Rosa but in New York and wasn't impressed at all. Very bland enchiladas. Chips are your run of the mill chips, but the Queso is like you took a brick of cheese and put it in the microwave. It's actually chewy. And after a few bites it's like a brick of cheese is sitting in your stomach. You can't dip a chip, you have to actually kind of cut a piece of it to put on your chip. Weird. You're totally paying to be seen there, which I don't really understand either. This place is not that nice. Pros: Location Cons: Food is not good more

A complete rip-off 4/18/2010

This was just a horrible lunch experience. The food is way-y-y overpriced for the quality and taste. I advise anyone looking for good authentic food to please stay away from this disgraceful place of a mexican restaurant. Pros: Nothing worth mentioning Cons: Low quality food, broken dishes, small portions, etc.. more

Very Refreshing Mexican Dining Experience 5/26/2009

I had the pleasure of going to this restaurant for lunch. You must get the Guacamole appetizer that is freshly made right at your table and served with freshly made corn tortillas. It is worth every cent. This isn't your typical cheap Mexican place. It costs more than a typical Mexican restaurant, but it is worth every cent in my opinion. The food is well prepared and very fresh. The service is professional and excellent. The entrees were great. The small details like the corn tortillas, black beans, margueritas, etc. were extremely fresh and much better than any other Mexican place that I've been to in ATL. The margueritas were strong and they didn't use that cheap marguerita mix junk. I highly recommend Rosa Mexicano if you are seeking a refreshing change from typical Mexican dining. Pros: Excellent food, Fresh, Great Service more

DON'T Waist your money 2/9/2009

What a disappointment. Who ever thinks this place is even OK,has never been any where else.Food ist HORRIBLE & OVERPRICED. The decore is a joke. I rather eat at Taco Bell. Cons: Lousy food more

A Great Surprise! 7/17/2008

I am a big fan of cheap yet amazing mexican food and the city has many places that keep me satisfied. So I've stayed away from this higher priced spot for a long time, until now. I needed a spot close by for a movie, so I finally decided to try it. They sat us promptly (had reservation) and our server was very nice. My date and I both ordered the pomegranate margarita- he liked it, I thought it tasted a bit bland. Now I am in college, so most liquor gets an okay from me, but I had to send this back. Our waiter looked at me like I was crazy, but I still had him bring me something else. He redeemed himself when he suggested his favorites, the Tablones and the Salmon en Manchamanteles. My date had the former and I had the salmon. Both were FABULOUS. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and had a melt in your mouth texture. The portions were large, hence we skipped apps and dessert, but we were both fully satisfied, and quite impressed. We will definitely be back, simply for the great food that really is on a different level than the other mexican restaurants I frequent. Pros: Fun atmosphere, excellent food Cons: Less than impressive margarita more

Over rated, overpriced, its just okay 4/25/2008

Nothing special. $12 guac made with 1 avocado, menu not very large or varied. it was okay. I prob would not go back. i could take it or leave it. Much better places around atl. Pros: Different menu than what you get at regular latin restaurants Cons: Different menu than what you get at regular latin restaurants, too expensive for what you are getting more

Very expensive for the food they serve 3/15/2008

Went to Rosa for the first time yesterday. The guacamole prepared at the table side was great. But the good food ended there. Also, the guacamole was a bit overpriced at 12$. For the entrees we had peppers stuffed with goat cheese, mushrooms and spinach, and two soft tortillas stuffed with spinach and mushrooms. Both dishes were served in a bed of mexican tomato sauce. What really got to me was not that the food was mediocre (which it definitely was) but that we were paying a heck of a lot of money for it. The entrees were about 15$ each. Pros: ambience, friendly service Cons: average food, too pricey more

Worst Restaurant Experience EVER 3/6/2008

I frequent Atlantic Station often but never tried Rosa's. So last night a friend and I decided to try something new...BAD DECISION. The fact that I payed $18 on flavorless chicken enchilladas comprised of 3 flour tortillas about the size of a saucer and dark chicken meat...no cheese, no rice, not even lettuce (however, they tried to compensate for the lack of flavor by dousing the ""enchilladas"" with a disgusting green creamy cheese sauce) is ridiculous! I could have went to Moe's and gotten WAY more for $6. The decor is nice, the staff is friendly and helpful, but the FOOD IS HORRIBLE. Maybe I should have chosen something else on the menu, but I would have to PAY EXTRA FOR ANY SUBSTITUTION. Maybe my expectations were just too high... Pros: Friendly staff Cons: Wait time, food, overpriced, no substitutions more

Has a bad rap. 3/4/2008

I think this place has a bad rap, maybe because it''s Atlantic Station, but I've been here several times, and always had a great time. Is it Tex-Mex? No. Is it a restaurant that trying to find it's niche in a difficult city. Yes. The margarita's are strong and tasty. The food is different, but really really good. I've tried something different every time I've gone and overall really enjoyed all of it. I've had the salmon dish, and the steak taco's and the CEVICHE!!! It's to die for. So, bottom line, it's not for everyone, but try it and decide for yourself instead of listening to everyone else. Pros: Unique Cons: Crowded on the weekends. more

Better Service at Taco Bell 3/1/2008

Rosa Mexicano was an extreme disappointment. Please do not go to this place if you have parties over 4. They will not split bills but four ways. They leave you to count your bills on hands, toes, and calculators. The hostess informed us they can not pull tables together, so good luck if you want to seat 4 or more together. You must like everything you order, because management will not allow you to swap entries without paying for what you don't like and paying for a new dish. I would have much rather had 2 bean and cheese burritos, with a smile and friendlier service from Taco Bell. more

Great food, great customer service and great atmosphere! 2/23/2008

My husband and I went to Rosa Mexicano for the first time last weekend. Although there was a line at the door, we had a reservation at were seated promptly at a great able. The atmosphere is absolutely breathtaking. Although it is positioned right in the middle of Atlantic Station, while inside, you feel like you're in a completely different place. With High ceilings and beautiful Mexican decor throughout, you know that you are not in your average Mexican restaurant. The pomegranate margaritas are to die for and the guacamole that is made right at your table is a must! The menu was a little intimidating at first because although they have your traditional chicken and steak tacos, the menu is filled with so many mouthwatering choices, it's hard to decide just what to get. We ended to go for something outside of the box and I ordered lump crab meat enchiladas while my husband had red snapper. Two things that you would never expect at a Mexican restaurant, but it was absolutely wonderful! All in all the service was exceptional, the food was out of this world and we will definitely be going back again very soon! Pros: Food, drinks, service, atmoshphere Cons: parking more

Love it! Best Mexican in Atlanta!! 2/8/2008

I go back to Rosa all the time - the food and drinks are great and it's a really fun and festive atmosphere. The guacamole is a must try and the frozen margarita is addictive! Pros: great guacamole & margaritas! Cons: can be crowded more

Real mexican food 2/8/2008

Lots of people think the food isn't authentic. I have traveled thru mexico and think its as good as you can find in Mexico. Yes it more expensive than chi chi's but worth every penny. don't believe everything you read. Pros: Great food , authentic margaritas Cons: may have to wait for a table more

Once is too many times. 11/21/2007

If you like enchiladas, guacamole, and low ball margarita's served with great fanfare, and you like to pay a lot for these things, then head over to Atlantic Station (a.k.a ""The Truman Show"") and enjoy a meal at Rosa Mexicano. However, if you want better food at better prices, then head to any other Mexican restaurant in Atlanta. Pros: Nice interior, even though it has no depth or authenticity Cons: Overpriced, too much fanfare and pizazz over run-of-the-mill food more

Like the rest of Atlantic Station, miserable 11/3/2007

Our waitress said the short ribs were the best thing on the menu. If that's so, I'd hate to taste the worst. They were burnt, dry, tasteless, and $23. The Carne Asada tacos were chewy, bland, and $19. In all honesty, I've had better tacos at Moe's, Chipotle, and even Taco Bell. Any random Mexican restaurant throughout the city puts this place to shame, and costs 1/4 as much. Bad food, terrible prices, long wait, what less could you want in a restaurant? But the dude making the guacamole was nice. more

A Disappointing Display of Mexican Cuisine 10/7/2007

Excited for Friday ladies night, we headed to Rosa Mexicano to start our evening. We were all super excited to try the ""new Mexican restaurant"" of Atlanta, and we had a lot of hopes for it to live up to it's hype. BIG MISTAKE to think Rosa Mexicano could stand up to any of the Mexican restaurants in Atlanta. From their sad margaritas in the orange juice glass, to their street food at fine dining prices. If they really want to pride themselves on their guacamole, someone needs to go back to cooking school--they should have done their research before attempting to bring a sorry excuse for Mexican cuisine to the mecca of the real-deal Mexican. Rosa, stay in New York--Atlanta knows the difference. Pros: Quick stop before heading out to Atlanta Cons: STREET FOOD AT FINE DINING PRICES more

Not recommended 9/30/2007

The guacamole dip is very good, but rather expensive at $12; I would definitely recommend that you order it. They say that it feeds 2, but it could easily feed 4 or 5 or more. We had a party of about 15, and everyone got tot taste it. However, the food I got, which was budin de pollo, was not very impressive. It was lukewarm when I received it, and didn't look that good either. It didn't taste like Mexican...very bland. It was just chicken with cheese and guacamole. Boring! While the ambiance is fine, there are definitely more pleasant atmospheres at much nicer restaurants. The service was so-so. When it came to the check, they would not split it among the 8 parties that we had, which became a time-consuming problem. We had to take up the tables for an hour just to figure out everyone's check. Pros: Guacamole dip, wine Cons: Food, service more

Nice Restaurant, But the food made me wanna B@RF 7/1/2007

Ive been to Atlantic Station over 100 times and always talked about eating here. So I finally did. The restaurant is beautiful located right in the middle of the Atlantic Station. You can eat and have a great view of whats going on outsite. The wait staff was nice. Service was nice and informative. The lemonade was good. But only one problem. THE FOOD MADE ME WANNA B@RF. Man, i know it was authentic mexican, but that shyt left and after taste in my mouth to where it made me wanna go get some liquor to get it out of my mouth. I ordered the Chicken Enclalada. It came with two of them, in some green sauce. That sauce smelt like shyt. The only good part of my meal was the chips. They were good, but when you got to the bottom of the basket, they started tasting like peanuts. Pros: Great Ambience, Location, View, Wait Staff Cons: FOOD, SMELL of FOOD, Prices a bit high more

Need to take more cooking lessons 6/23/2007

Beautiful restaurant!!! The aroma suckered me in. I definitely shouldn't have listened to my nose on this restaurant. I'm from Los Angeles where there are Mexican restaurants from high end to low end, good and bad there too!!. First of all the chips tasted old, and I had to ask for chips and salsa, and the salsa was nothing special. I ordered chipotle enchiladas or something, nothing spectacular and it was tastless, same thing for the rice and beans. I paid $21 for aesthetics because I could have gotten a better meal at Georgia Grill or Chipotle. It would have been alright if I were going to Taco Bell for a value meal because there you don't expect much. I am sure that there are other great mexican restaurants in Atlanta, but this wasn't one of them. Pros: Beautiful Restaurant Cons: Lousy food more

Beautifully Decorated, but lacking in everything else 6/18/2007

This restaurant was a major disappointment. My boyfriend and I wanted to sit down and enjoy some good Mexican food. I suspect that we were enticed by the pretty roses and the decor once we got inside. We examined the menu posted outside and knew that it was somewhat pricey but decided to go for it anyway. After waiting for nearly 5 minutes with no water or menus (5 minutes is a long time when you're thirsty), we finally had to flag down a waiter to find our assigned waiter. Once the waiter came, he took our order, and disappeared. We didn't see him again until it was time to pay the bill. The food came quickly, but the portions were small and the food was not that great. At best, the food was forgetful. I would describe Rosa Mexicano as an attempt at upscale Mexican food that failed miserably. I have never gone back since that day and will never go back. I have not talked to anyone who had a positive experience. Pros: Location, parking available (2 hours free), decor Cons: Food, service, price more
