Best

I love this mexican restaurant! It is always a great experience! You must try the queso fundido and the dessert: tres leches de la casa! Besides that the pomegrane margarita is ...

Worst

As far as I'm concerned, all you really need to know is this: a double order of guacamole is $28. That's right. Twenty-eight freakin' dollars for a very average serving of guaca...

So good! 1/12/2011

Over Priced, Noisy, Mediocre 10/4/2010

Stopped in with friends had a great cockta! The service was very nice. However, the food was simply middle-of-the-road. Was served cold and waited what seemed like days! Couldn't really have a conversation with friends for the place was too loud. more

Okay food 9/29/2010

Overpriced in an unreasonable way. The food was not bad, the guac was good, but the prices killed everything good about it more

Ehhhh...not impressed 9/22/2010

Very, very unimpressed. The food was ridiculously expensive and not worth it at all. The guacamole was good, sure, but for that price, it was completely not worth it. The mexican food was average at best, the drinks were nothing special, the service was slow on a crowded night, and although we ended up having a good time, we really had to try to make the best of it. more

Go to the one at Union Sqaure, not here 7/21/2010

First of all, I love Rosa Mexicano, the one at union square. Last Sunday, we decided to try the one at Lincoln Center for the Sunday lunch restaurant week menu and it was a huge mistake. When we asked for the restaurant week menu, the staff told us they don?t do Sunday lunch and that the information on Opentable is inaccurate. It was as if we had to beg for the restaurant week menu and yet when other people were seated, the restaurant week menu was provided to them without asking. We ended up having to order from the regular brunch menu which we did not enjoy much. The guacamole was not prepared thoroughly as we could still see and taste huge chunks of guacamole and the steak was very chewy. Overall, my experience at this location is very poor. The one at Union Square has much better service, food, and decor. Cons: Service more

magical decor, wonderful guacamole 10/28/2009

I have been to this location many times since it opened. The last couple of times I was surprised and disappointed by a change in the atmosphere - it had lost its sophistication and elegance - big tourist/family crowd; the staff was pleasant, but amateurish, They assumed we needed instruction on the food, and thovered and kept trying to push menu items and drinks, and, likely, $$$. Pros: Wonderful decor, great guacamole Cons: A bit expensive, portions wastefully big more

Great place 9/28/2009

Great place, had a good time, I went on a Friday night, but try and get there right before the rush, we got there at 6:30 by the time we left there was a pretty long wait. the service was good, the drinks and food were good. Would definitely go back. Pros: great sangria more

Wonderful Experience! 7/11/2009

I came here with my mother and her fiancee. We barely managed to beat the post-opera crowd but still ran into a road block. Somehow we were behind a couple of people in line and the wait came to 45 minutes all of a sudden! When I spoke with the host he told me about the lengthy wait and when I expressed my disappointment he simply told me that he'd work it out. Pros: Great ambience, Helpful Staff, Solid Menu Cons: A bit pricey more

Nothing to brag about... 4/4/2009

A friend of mine brought me here today. My first impression was ""WOW"" nice place. I was sort of impressed with the guacamole. It was delicious. I started looking at the menu, I couldn't decide so I ordered the chicken tacos. jmmmm, I received about 5 pieces of chicken on tops of melted cheese ""BTW the cheese was good"". The chicken had no taste, the tiny tacos where just well tacos. I just didn't have anything to make a taco. i wasn't impressed. The margarita was not good. I won't be returning...Too pricey for nothing. I must agree with other reviews I have tasted better Margaritas and Mexican food. I think you are better off going to a local place where the food is better and cheaper. Not worth it @ all. It's sad because the restaurant is beautiful and it can be romantic. Sorry, if you want to give your hard earned money away, GO!!!! If not, skip it...You are not missing anything at all...... ;-) Pros: The decor, the ambiance, the guacamole. Cons: food.... more

Overpriced bad service 12/8/2008

I wait at the bar for one hour to be seating, the bartender was rude and not very fluent in English and the margaritas terrible. The food was ok. the service was terrible the waitress and the manager were so rude. I have never had experience like that in my life...I would never go there again!!!!!!! more

Nice Decor, food is nothing to talk about 8/4/2008

This is far from being ""the best mexican restaurant in the city"" like other reviewers mention. The drinks are made from the very simple Margarita Mix that you can buy from the supermarket. The guacamole made in front of your table tasted good, but that's about all that tasted decent out of the four dinner choices each of us ordered. more

Great experience, great food 6/21/2008

I was in New York with my three kids this past weekend and decided to try Rosa Mexicana on a relative's recommendation. The place is beautifully decorated and I expected to be told to take my rugrats elsewhere. Instead everyone was extremely friendly. The food was great, my kids have never been so enthused about about food that did not come with a toy. The service was prompt and attentive but we were not rushed at all. Our waiter was great, very friendly and good with the kids. After we left he ran all the way down the street after us to return my daughter;s camera which she had forgotten. I definitely plan to go back and would recommend it to any one visiting New York. more

Beautiful restaurant with great food 3/27/2008

I was underwhelmed by the East Side Rosa Mexicano, but the Lincoln Center location is a different restaurant altogether. The decor is chic and beautiful, and the food is delicious. We had an early reservation in order to make the opera and were seated promptly. Service was good but not great -- the waiter forgot to give me a steak knife for my lamb and then disappeared for several minutes, so I sat watching everyone else eat until I could flag down another server. Pros: Margaritas, lamb, guacamole Cons: No steak knife more

not sure 1/31/2008

what all the hype is about. I have been here once & to the downtown location once. All have a nice atmosphere but food is nothing spectacular. Pros: decor Cons: food nothing stands out more

What Happened? 9/21/2007

Rosa Mexicano has gone downhill recently. This was my favorite restaurant in the city. Are they spreading themselves too thin with their expanding locations? I've been to all of the NY locations several times. I went to the Lincoln Center location last night. I ordered the filet mignon in the mushroom cream sauce. It was the THINNEST steak I've ever had. It wasn't even a quarter of an inch thick. It was swimming in sauce. It was like having a plate of cream of mushroom soup w/ beef. I've had this in the past, and it was 5 times the thickness. My favorite item on the menu is gone (although it's still listed on their site) chili rubbed lamb shank in parchment paper. I was in the restroom, and women were raving about the lamb - not sure why it was taken off the menu. The service was fine, but not the usual incredible service. I will try the original location one more time, but if the food quality isn't there (I can't believe I'm saying this) I will never go back to a Rosa Mexicano again. Pros: Margaritas Cons: Food has gone downhill, service isn't what is used to be more

Best Mexican Food in the City! 8/6/2007

Rosa Mexicano is the best! The guacomole is super and the whole menu is delicious. I've been there a dozen times now and the staff is always great and the food is always superb. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know real Mexican food. Pros: Guacamole, Margaritas, Great Staff more
