Born and bred in the middle east I know what a decent shawarma tastes like.. we just moved to LA a month ago, so we like to try out new places to eat. I got a flyer in the mail for this place, the prices looked too good to be true and it was located few minutes from where we live... I dragged my husband there as I was really craving a hot yummy meal...\r
but instead what we got were cold chewy and half empty shawarmas... after we placed the order I never saw any of the staff near the grill making the sandwich, but I did see them cleaning the floor & counter behind the counter. My husband was wondering if they even washed their hands after cleaning..\r
You know how the shawarma vertical grill/broiler is always in plain view and the shawarma is made in front of your eyes..the pita bread is usually placed at the bottom of the grill to let it heat while cooked meat is cut off for the sandwich... but I didn't see any of this going on here while we were waiting as I was constantly looking towards the grill.\r
After 10 minutes I see wrapped sandwiches that appeared from somewhere deep inside the kitchen being brought to us.. even the hummus was disgusting... \r
I don't think I will EVER go back..\r
I have tried one other middle eastern place, the Sham Restaurant and it was AMAZING, just like back home. There is no comparison between the two places.
Cons: cold stale food and slow service.
