Best

Quality drinks at a great price, and a pub feel where you can relax with your friends...I've been there a few times and the service is always excellent, the drinks are well made, ...

Worst

Take all of the cliches you've heard about neighborhood bars/taverns (good and bad), roll them up into one, and you've got Rookie's. It's a tiny little place, meant for meeti...

Pretty cool place to hang out 3/18/2010

I can see how RC001 arrived at some of his/her opinions, although if you've been going there for any amount of time (which it seems you have) you have to admit that the recent changes in staff have been more on the good side than the bad. I agree with the texting and the tendency for most of the bartenders to flock to the corner of the bar and "hang out," rather than to actually walk around and talk to other customers besides the ones closest to their cigarettes and drinks. But, it's still a vast improvement on certain previous (and current in a case or two) bartenders. I mean, c'mon, you have to admit that Sierra rocks the house! I've only met the manager once and believe me, that was once too many times. If I've met the owner, he/she didn't announce themselves...so...I don't know. Agree on drinks, games, etc. It's a pretty cool little place to hang once in a while...if you can get the bartender's to pay attention. Pros: good prices and very healthy drinks Cons: staff, a little on the small side, bathrooms more

Wanna-be-cheers, more like Drama Fest in NW SA 3/9/2010

Take all of the cliches you've heard about neighborhood bars/taverns (good and bad), roll them up into one, and you've got Rookie's. It's a tiny little place, meant for meeting and greeting -- and for that it's great. When the chairs run out, people seem perfectly content to stand. This, I'm sure, is in no small part due to the very liberal pours and reasonable prices for this side of town. If you're not a regular (specifically a part of that "special group of "favs"), stay well back from the fangs and claws and just hang with your own crowd. The natives can and will definately be restless. The owner is mostly AWOL, the so-called manager (when she's there or not in the back getting whacked out of her mind) is a loud-mouthed, vulgar, pushy bitch who, in a single night, would embarass a room full of merchant marines on a bender, several Special Forces groups sizing each other up, and 3 tables filled with drunks with Tourette's syndrome. The staff is mostly okay, just a little on the "what, you want me stop texting my dog to make you a drink?" side. If you're an afficiondo of, or been in the bar business, some of what you'll see here (particualarly from the mgr will curl (or straighten) depending on its original condition, your hair). If that sort of thing doesn't bother you, it's actually a pretty okay place to hang out...again, with the provisio that you bring a friend or two for back up. No fights to speak of, just a few "semi-screaming" matches between pals over a shuffleboard game... Good internet jukebox, plenty of table-top video games, and HUGE safe filled with those nifty, charming games you haven't seen since you were a kid like uno, scrabble, etc. Again, fun for groups and not something you see in too many other places. A couple of electronic dart boards, and of course the shuffleboard which is in pretty good condition. Warning for those with tiny little bladders, there is only one restroom for boys and one for girls. Learn how to run, or wait in line. My rating is low, mostly because of the staff/mgmt issues. (Obviously) When the staff is on point, they can usually impress even the most jaded patron, however if they get bored or even close to what they think is slow--you'll usually find them propping up the beer cooler with their butts, texting for hours on end, and waiting only on the select few "favs" mentioned earlier. Either way, if drama doesn't faze you much, give her a try...the selection, prices, and pours should make you at least feel like you didn't waste your evening. Pros: Wide variety of liquors/good pour, when it's consistent Cons: Oh, my, the list can go on and on starting with staff/mgmt more

QUALITY DRINKS AT A GREAT PRICE 12/10/2009

Quality drinks at a great price, and a pub feel where you can relax with your friends...I've been there a few times and the service is always excellent, the drinks are well made, and even the ventilation is good (for those of us that don't smoke). I highly recommend it, if you are looking for a fun night out. Pros: Great Service Cons: Allows smoking more
