I love this chain...but this place has the WORST service 5/26/2012

We had a group meeting with 10 mostly elderly people. Had reservations made. Got there at 1pm thinking it would be a good time after the lunch crowd. The place was nearly empty and it took over 1 hour just to have our order placed. One person had to ask for an order to go because the service was so slow. Well, the server said they were slow because the 1 person ordered food to go??? It's clear that this location has management issues. Won't go there again. Houston has too many great restaurants with superior food quality and service. more

So-Called "Macaroni" Grill Spoof 8/21/2011

Yeah, what a joke. We had one on the freeway in Webster, and it didn't last long. I went there once, and that was all it took. Not only did the so-called "macaroni" grill NOT have macaroni (of any kind), but they probably didn't have Romano cheese either. I guess the uninspired generic name should have told me something. more

WORST service I have EVER had. 12/28/2010

6 people for a birhtday party took 3 hours to dine. It was not crowed, arrived at 6:30, by 7:30 we are still sitting there with waitress avoiding eye contact & setting tables. She forgot everything, grated cheese all over me & the table (which I cleaned off) because she was looking around instead of at the plate. We got 5 ""I'm sorry's"" during our meal & even more excuses. Felt dark & sullen, no joy, no music, just dull. At least the food was good, thank the chefs even after she blamed them for all her oopps. Very sad, MG used to be fun. Not anylonger. Fells old & tired in there now...yawn. more

Service is horrible, stay away from this trashy location 10/24/2008

Service: C \r Food: C \r Value: C \r \r I also used to like Macaroni Grill when they first came out. Now they are very chainy and the customer service I received here was the worst I have experienced in Houston. That is no exaggeration. Here's the story. I went here with my girlfriend one night, casually dressed but definitely appropriate. They sat us in the dingiest corner when there were better, available areas to sit. Waiters and waitresses were so close as they walked by, it already felt like a waste of money, but we stayed. It took 30 MINUTES for a waiter to take our order. When we finally ordered, it took another 30 MINUTES to bring out the food. OK, I understand that some nights are busy and let's just say that is acceptable. There was a nice white couple sitting next to us experiencing the same issue. They started talking to us about how ridiculous the service was and we agreed. They brought out the wrong order for my girlfriend, so we nicely sent it back. They brought out the wrong order for her AGAIN, so we sent it back. At this time, the couple next to us were complaining about their wait. They spoke to the biggot manager who was sweet as pie to them and told them their dinner was on the house. They pointed to us and said we experienced the same issues and the manager said, ""I'll get to them."" 20 MINUTES passed and he had not talked to us. We asked to speak with him and waited longer. He finally came and had the biggest attitude, asking us ""what is the problem?"" and ""well what did you order, this or that?."" Words cannot explain the difference between how he treated us and the other couple. When they brought the bill I said I'm not paying and walked out. I called corporate and complained about that Manager the next day.\r \r Be sure to check out my other restaurant reviews at www.houstoncuisine.blogspot Cons: Everything more

Incredible food and solid service. Great prices, too. 2/25/2007

My husband and I had our second date at a Romano's in Austin. For his birthday this year, though, we opted to visit the one near where we live now. We got there, and, for the first time, we didn't have to wait for a table at all, which was nice. (Although, waiting for a table is ALWAYS worth it) Anyway, they originally sat us in a little 2 person booth, that was on the other side of the wall from the waiter's station...which sucked. For the first 15 minutes we were there, all I did was hear about how much the waiters wanted to get off work, or how much they hated their job. In their defense, though, had I never heard them complain, you would never know they were so unhappy. Back to the review, though. We eventually moved to a more romantic table, where I didn't have to hear the waiters and credit card machine. As usual, the food was incredible. I always get the create-a-pasta with penne, spinach, mushrooms, and artichokes with garlic creme sauce. It's awesome. My husband got some lasagna, that was equally as delicious. We also got their sampler trio, which has incredible calimari and delicious fried mozarella, but I wasn't crazy about the tomato bruschetta, but that's because I'm not crazy for the cold tomatoes and bread. My husband LOVED it, though. We also had a glass of sangria, which was good, but wasn't sangria in its traditional form. It was more of a mulled wine, which would have been much better had it been served hot. Still, the sangria was definitely still potable. Also, we got a free slice of ridiculously rich chocolate cake for my husband's birthday. Gah, it was just incredible.\r \r Anyway, the place was absolutely incredible, as usual, and the price was a HUGE steal. A big appetizer, our main courses, 2 sodas, and a giant glass of sangria was about 35 bucks.\r \r GO TRY IT! Pros: Incredible food, price, and service. Cons: Sangria could be a LITTLE more traditional, but it was still pretty good. more

Excellent food and SERVICE! 8/27/2002

The food is consistently good and the service is equally good. Don't get me wrong, this is not authentic Italian food. It IS good food at a good price and the service and atmosphere is outstanding. GREAT for familys, groups, dates or just plain anyone that wants a good meal at a good price. Go here. It's Good! Pros: Good Food, Good Prices, Good Atmosphere more

Best hot bread in town 7/26/2002

Try mama's trio, you won't be disappointed. The hot bread and dipping sauce is incredible. more

Too expensive and predictable 6/23/2002

Its a chain but they claim you have a unique dining experience... which isn't true. The food is not bad but not worth the over $10 you pay per entree AND you have to pay more for salad. I would rather go to Maggiano's and spend a few more dollars to enjoy the unique dining experience and atmosphere.. If you were to make the experience unique with a little mroe selection and food as well as personalized service, I may eat there again. I must say however that the bread is out of this world. Pros: cheap salad, good parking, free bread more
