I have taken 3 different cars to this shop over the past few years. I have been VERY happy with the results and feel completely comfortable bringing my cars there! I feel comfortable that they are not overcharging me and they treat me with respect even though I am a women with no car knowledge. They ALWAYS call to update me with quotes and status and are always friendly. They do whatever they can to get your car back to you the same day. And... they will even quote you a price on something and then tell you that you don't really NEED it done if you dont want to!!! How many mechanics will do that??? That saved me $450 one time so i did not get the item fixed. Once I knew it wasn't a danger and I was getting rid of my car in the upcoming months, I did not have to pay and I felt safe again! What more can you ask for? If you need work... go to this place, you won't be sorry!!! more

I am wondering if this shop paid for the perfect reviews. I brought my car in, in good faith. Rod and his son told me they would diagnose the car. They told me all the problems and that they would fix whatever was wrong. I trusted them and paid them $400 dollars. I came to pick my car up and they tell me the car is running fine, but there is 5 more problems wrong. What The Hell? Why didn't you tell me that with your so call diagnoses. I am telling you don't bring your car to this place. People are nice, but nice doesn't fix your car and solve your problem. They wanted $150 more dollars and the owner's customer service is terrible. The funny thing is a customer was there to pick up his car and was complaining about the same stuff that his car wasn't fixed. Pick somewhere else if you must! more

I received pictures of the work which is a good plus. They also gave me alternatives for fixing the problems in case I needed to save money. The work is always perfect. At one point, I needed to adjust the timing of my engine. I brought it in and got it fixed within hours at no charge. My 31-year-old car is running is running great, and I will always take it there. more

i took my pontiac montana to get the transmission serviced. for a while, the transmission shifted OK. i kept thinking there was something wrong with the transmission, in that it shifted HARD. i took the van back CONTINUOUSLY to get it adjusted, but the shop kept saying the car was doing what it was supposed to. yesterday, without warning, the transmission FAILED. i am VERY upset, and i cant wait to hear what these jokers open up, so i can let them have a pieve of my mind. more

I was online one day and just googled auto repair- Chicago and Rod's came up. I was hesitant at first because I was not familiar with the shop and I just knew i would be quoted some outrageous price from there too. I wasn't going to call, but something inside kept telling me to call. When I called and asked for a quote on my issue, I was at a loss for words for what they quoted me, almost $1000 cheaper than what Pepe Boys and others quoted me. I knew I wanted to do business with them because the person that answered the phone also answered every question that I had and gave me all honest answers. I knew from that point, I wanted to give them my business. My car was towed to them on Thursday and they kept me informed on the progress of my repairs and my car was done early Saturday morning. Everyone in the shop was so nice and professional and I was even shown pictures of my engine before and after. My car is running wonderfully and I would definitley recommend Rod's to anyone that needs auto repair. The quality of the service that I recieved out shines the affordable price that I paid. Rod and his crew are simply the best! They provide you top-notch service overall. Rod has been in buisness for over 20 years and it shows - great prices, quality work, and IF you do have an issue they will take care of it for you without a fuss. Evereytime i go there it sems to get better! I take all my cars there, and their entire crew - Louis, Wendell, Henry, Juan, Chris and Epi are probably the best mechanics in the city along with their expert trans builder Charles who took care of my trans for my Pickup. Rod and Pete always make sure the work done to my cars gets done right and on time! Definetley a great place for service in the south loop/Bridgeport area! Pros: excellent service Cons: none more
