We had such a negative experience at Riverwoods Pet Hospital. If you are considering taking your pet there please save your time and money and go somewhere else.\r \r Dr. Dobson was so unprofessional, hardly spent any time in the room, would not listen to questions, cut me off mid sentence, and rushed off to the next room. She is abrasive and insensitive. She does not posses a good personality for a vet!\r \r They came up with a treatment plan that was so over the top excessive and expensive. We needed a simple treatment and she wanted us to do x-rays which turned out to be completely unnecessary. When we went to pay the final bill she was insistent and very confrontational that we had to take over $80 in antibiotics and medications even though the lab results were negative for any infection. My husband politely declined and after chewing out the receptionist she stormed out of the room.\r \r We found this vet to be excessively expensive and impersonal. We are glad to have an associations with a kind, caring, practically minded (versus money minded) vet at Pet Medical Center. more

I took my new purebreed puppy to get his third round of puppy shots and they gave him the wrong ones! I brought a sheet of information from the breeder with important breed-specific details about what to give and what not to give my precious (not to mention expensive) pal and even after asking the doctor multiple times if she had read the info sheet she gave him a shot combo against the orders on the sheet. Unfortunately I didn't find out until I paid the bill after the shots were all done with. Now I am left worrying about whether or not there will be complications down the road. Save the worry and go somewhere else if you 1) feel that it is important to feel like your doctor listens to you and 2) want to have a vet that pays attention to detail. more

Awesome Vet! 2/24/2011

I breed chinchillas and when 2 of my girls got in a fight, one of them came out with her head completely scalped. Not really sure what to do I rushed her into a non exotic vet and kept going back for a few weeks until I realized that her head was beginning to abcess and that she was just not acting right. I called Riverwoods and told them what was going on and they got me in that very same day even though they were completely booked. When I got there there was no wait, I was placed right in a room with the Doctor examining her. She was VERY gentle with her and sent her home on a few medications as well as the supplies to clean out her wound. I continued going back for recheck appointments for about 8 weeks until her head had finally healed. more

misdiagnose 3/10/2010

We had two dogs, the only reason I'm writing this is because we are looking for another vet to take our German Shepherd right now and thought I would let you know about our other dog a little over a year ago. We had a NewFoundland mix we took into Riverwoods because she had developed a fairly large lump on her neck. The diagnoses from Riverwoods was a benign tumor after sending it to the labratory. They drained fluid from it and thought she would be fine. Within four weeks the tumor had quickly grown into the size of a large grapefruit. We made an appointment to go back in, but before we could get her back in she got very sick. We rushed her to the urgent care late one night worried something was extremely wrong. After an X-Ray, we were told she had cancer throughout her entire body that had been eating away for the last couple months. Obviously the misdiagnosis didn't cause our dog to die, but we were pretty frustrated after being told a large tumor was benign. You have to wonder what type of lab they are sending the tumor to, or if they are at all, and just charging us for it. The vet at Riverwoods always seemed nice enough and reasonably priced, but it seems like cancer would be easy enough to detect. Proceed with caution. Pros: nice staff, clean facility, cool rabbit and birds Cons: my dog is dead more

Experienced and Friendly 3/3/2010

The vets are all very experienced, friendly, and understanding. We took out bird in for a trama-injury. Even after spending all day and night taking care of our bird, hand feeding it, spending oddles of time trying to help it, and giving it all kinds of medication as needed, it didn't make it. *They did NOT charge us for their services. I would highly recommend them. more

They took care of us! 11/4/2009

My American Eskimo had medical issues that needed urgent care. The staff took such good care of my dog while I was there. She was very old and I was nervous about putting her under anesthesia. They gave me my options and helped me make the decisions I needed to. They needed to give her a sedative before they did anything because she was freaking out, and they let me give her the liquid medicine orally with a syringe. I was able to hold her while she calmed down and walk her back to her kennel. I appreciate everything they did for my dogs. Pros: Dr. Dobson & staff are so wonderful! Cons: Provo (ugh), Expensive more

Dr. Dobson is a miracle worker... 7/13/2008

I currently have three ferrets that I wouldn't think of taking anywhere else... Dr. Dobson is great with them and my rugrats love her... One of my ferrets has Adrenal Disease and gets treatments every month... Thanx to Dr.Dobson he's doing great, all his hair grew back and he's back to his normal self! I also had an older female ferret who required multiple surgeries and treatments, Dr. Dobson did wonders for her too! Dr. Dobson and the staff all make you feel important and go out of their way to take care of you and your pet. I wouldn't dream of going elsewhere. And if you have ferrets Dr. Dobson is the only vet around that seems to know anything about them! Highly recommended!!! Pros: Great staff, excellent facility, easy to get to Cons: can't think of any... more

Nice location, nice atmosphere, but bad service, won't go again 6/30/2008

I liked the location and the setup of this facility but I got bad vibes there. The doctor misdiagnosed my dog and her leg ended up having to be amputated. Wouldn't recommend this place. Pros: Pretty office, nice location, near a shopping mall Cons: service, prices, skill more

Love it!! 6/27/2007

I wouldn't dream of taking my dogs, cats or parrots to any other vet. Even though I live in South Jordan, I still go to Dr Dobson at Riverwoods because I know that my animals will receive the best care possible. The staff is wonderful and always goes the extra mile! I would highly recommend this vet clinic for dogs, cats and exotic pets too~ Pros: Exotic animals, Service, Caring vet and staff, emergency care more
