Great Place to Eat in Santa Cruz 11/17/2009

I went to Riva the other day for a late lunch. My boyfriend and I were seated right away and the servers were very attentive, and I mean ALL the servers... not just the one that was assigned to our table. The view is amazing, and it's a nice casual place that isn't too expensive. The calamari here was good, though the pieces are a little too big for my taste. I ordered the fish and chips which was excellent and huge! There were 3 pieces of fish and I could only manage 1 piece. The fries were nice and crispy. Be forewarned though... the fried food is FRIED, so if you don't like really greasy food, order something else off of the menu. more

Riva's is one of the nicest restaurants on the wharf. Their batter on their fish is a nice, light batter - you get actual seafood and not just a big bit of breading. They have a nice selection of traditional fish n chips as well as more "adult" entrees including shark meat. But the best part of Riva's is dessert! They have the yummiest gelato - I love the rice pudding flavoured gelato!. And, the "insider's secret" ?? You can order TWO flavours of gelato in one serving - genius! The only thing to remember, is, Riva's is cash only - so stop by the ATM on your way to dinner! more

maybe not the best known restaurant on the wharf, but in my opinion it is by far the best. there are at least ten tables along the window looking out on the ocean. the food is great and very reasonably priced. the service is great, friendly and casual. their fish and chips is excellent, as is the fried zuchinni (which you can also get at their take-out window). more
