A pretty restaurant, but marred by TERRIBLE jarring music blaring (a staff- member's I-pod? Management -get a grip!)

Hot food in Chelsea 9/24/2011

Walking around Chelsea one evening I found Tello's Restaurant. I was single when I went in. I sat at the bar, had a few drinks and some pasta. I met this guy here and we started dating. Thanks Tello. more

YUM! 9/22/2011

Just got done having dinner here with a co-worker. Perfect end to my busy day. Delicious cocktails and enough food that I don't have to make lunch tomorrow! Everything moved like clockwork, we didn't have to wait long at all for anything! Friendly staff as well! Can't wait to go back! more

Feel at home 8/3/2011

I noticed another review said that a glass of wine was expensive. Have you never dined it the city before? Most places I eat at charge $8 - $14. Relaxed with a sort of Italian pub feel, I quite enjoyed my meal at Tello. The service was quick, our waiter knew the menu and gave us great recommendations, and the portions were so plentiful that I had leftovers for work the next day. The owner was in and checked on my husband and I to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, he even gave us 2 lemoncello shots on the house! All in all a great staff who made us feel like part of the family and child friendly. more

This was my first time and will be my last. There were two of us and while our entrees had very good portions more

Great Italian in the heart of Chelsea 7/4/2011

Chelsea is one of my favorite neighborhoods and I eat there often. I've eaten at Tello a few times and it has never disappointed. Sicilian salad followed by capellini primavera is my favorite. The portions are pretty big, sometimes I get to leave with left overs, still great the next day! more

Great Neighborhood Spot 7/4/2011

A friend who lives in Chelsea recommended this neighborhood favorite. Came by after a few after work drinks and was glad I did. Veal and shrimp milano really hit the spot! If veal isn't your thing, I tried some of my friend's chicken rolatini and it was also to die for! I will definitely be coming back soon! more

Gay friendly Italian Food at its Best! 5/24/2011

This restaurant is full of great ambiance with real comfort food. I've been doing some of the web design work for Tello, Trois Canards, and Casa Havana and find that the diners are always friendly, never rude and when I come in to visit the restaurant I am always greeted. These restaurants are real charmers. more

Not customer friendly 11/21/2010

Out of a better wine ( sangiovese) second choice montelpuciano $10. The entre Chicken Benedtto arrived after a long time, slightly charred. The price quoted for the Panna Cotta ...$7. The bill was totally incorrect. Billed for Sangiovese $11and the Panna Cotta $8. The billwas evetually corrected. One should be able to dine without having to worry about misquoted prices and inept waitstaff. I doubt if I will go back. more

Cozy & Yummy 11/30/2008

My husband & I chose to eat at Tello on a cold November night, after leaving a nearby movie theater. Pros: cozy atmosphere, good food, convenient location Cons: so-so service, cocktails need improvement more

Too cramped for large groups 10/23/2008

The food here is very good with ok sized portions, and not what I've grown to expect from Italian restaurants (I don't remember seeing manacotti or lasagna on the menu). The people I dined with all enjoyed their meals, and I LOVED their chocolate mousse. I chose this restaurant as the location for my birthday dinner after reading many glowing reviews on the location. I booked a table for 12 for a 7:30 dinner on a Saturday night. I was dissappointed to see that we were seated as 2 tables of 6. I didn't say anything about it since the restaurant was crowded (and they had another party of 10+ at the front of the restaurant seated together). Our party ended up being 2 people short at the last minute, and our waiter complained about it for the better part of our meal. So, I'd say skip Tello for groups of 6 or more, unless you make your reservation for the time they open. The food is good, with ample servings, but if I had known we'd be seated separetly, I would have made reservations else where. Pros: inexpensive, cute spot for dining Cons: cramped more

Affordable, tasty Italian. 7/2/2008

This is my favorite neighborhood Italian. We bring friends and out-of-towners here regularly. My partner's brother-in-law practically swooned over his meal. They do a mean penne and meatballs in a delicious, velvety ragout that I have a hard time resisting. The place can get cramped when it's full, but the food's worth it. Pros: Yummy food, good service, cozy atmosphere Cons: Little cramped more
