Had the sausage and mushroom tomato sauce pasta. Just a really solid dish, the flavors are not fancy just very sincere and made with care. The appetizer was the parmesan beef ...

I thought it was a sure thing coming here being that all the reviews were 4 and 5 stars. Either these reviews are bogus or the people just don't know what good food is and/or hav...

Best Italian Food In Portland 9/20/2007

This is seriously the most authentic Italian food I have eaten in Portland. I have been several times and have tried almost all the entrees and they are all right on point. The owner and wife make you feel like you are right back in Italy with their hospitality and great food. Great wine list with very reasonable prices. Pros: great food, great atmosphere, great service more

Authentic Italian Food! 5/8/2007

I was recently there for lunch. I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and other people in my party ordered the Ravioli Spinaci e Pomodori. Everything was excellent and just as I remembered the food tasting in Roma during my travels there a year ago. \r \r I am looking forward to having dinner there soon, I'd like to order a few more courses and try some other dishes. \r \r I walk past this restaurant almost every day, it's in a less traveled path for most, but well worth walking an extra block from the other restaurants on Morrison Street. It surely deserves more attention. more

A Taste of Italy 1/24/2007

Going to Ristorante Roma, was a new experience for myself. As soon as i walked in a was welcomed by what appeared to be the Chef, who from my understanding has working in rome for 20 years. After sitting down and ordering a glass of red wine, I quickly order Fetticini Porcini, which was amazing. I then ordered the Sea Bass which came with baby clams and fresh mussels, wow so fresh and bursting with flavor, its like I had gone through a portal out of Portland. With the sea bass i moved on to a white wine. I would highly recommend this ristorante to all to taste True Italain Food Pros: Healthy Cuisine, down to earth people, large groups Cons: Parking more

A True Taste of Italy 12/12/2006

Roma has delicious food and wine, a quiet romantic atmosphere, and a true taste of Italy!\r \r Roma?s delicious deli meats (mortadella, soppresata, and prosciutto), parmesan and fontina cheeses, canned tomatoes for sauce, and even the balsamic vinegar come straight from Italy. Italian tomatoes are known to have a milder, less-acidic taste than tomatoes you normally find here, which makes for a great-tasting sauce. Other foods like bread, salad greens and tomatoes, and seafood are fresh.\r \r They are working on new menus now, but there a couple things you should know about the old. 1st: the ?Meat and Fish? section of the menu comes w/ a salad, so don?t order one as an appetizer! 2nd, appetizers are large and can be easily shared. 3rd, if you?re a vegetarian, ask for any pasta Pomodoro! (ie: ?Ravioli Bolognese? can be ?Ravioli Pomodoro?). Last, don?t be afraid to ask questions and be patient- English is only their third language!\r \r Roma?s more popular wines include the ?house? wine (an organic Sangiovese), the Boroli Barbera d?Alba, and the Rosso di Montalcino. My personal favorite is the Nero d?Avola- a bit of a ?peppery? taste w/blackberry undertones.\r \r Other beverages: soda, San Pellegrino sparkling waters, few lagers, hot teas, and Cafe Umbria Espresso (mm, tasty!).\r \r Starters: try some fresh Caprese salad, Antipasto Tradizionale (deli meats, olives, and cheese), or a huge dish of Saute Cozze e Vongole (mussels and clams). Follow up w/ an entree- a simple Penne Arrabiata, a classic Scalopine, or my personal favorite Rigatoni Funghi e Salsicia. For a more traditional Italian fare, a better kept secret is the Stracetti (sliced beef on a bed of zesty arugula). \r \r Then there are the desserts- but these aren?t as easy to pass up like in most restaurants. The coconut or lemon sorbets are a refreshing finish to a hearty meal. The cakes are rich but not overdone. And the Tiramisu (homemade!) is arguably THE BEST TIRAMISU IN TOWN! \r \r Mangia! Pros: ambience, food, price, quality Cons: sometimes crowded, more
