RIP-OFF!!!! 12/1/2010

RIP-OFF! Dishonest shop. Needed to replace a part on my car, it is a dealer made part only. So I call Rising Sun to get a quote he quotes me a price but tells me that the dealer is out of the part and that it would take them a week to get the part. So I go online and find the part. It would arrive in 3 days. \r \r I had Rising Sun order the part. When I told them to order the part Alan DID NOT say that there would be an up-charge to order the part. An UP-CHARGE OF $136.00 JUST TO ORDER THE PART!!! I could have order the part my-self If I had known of the UP-Charge.\r \r Part came in he installs the part then tells me after the part is installed, of the UP-CHARGE. \r \r That's not all he calls me to give me a total price over the phone and tells me a price thats is $10.00 cheaper for the part then what showed up on the invoice. So again they try to get me for more money! \r \r VERY DISHONEST!!!!!!! more

Excellent Service 7/3/2008

I have used Rising Sun (S. Lamar location) for my Nissan (185,000 miles at the moment) and Honda (135,000 miles) for the past four years and have always found the service to be top notch with reasonable prices. I've used Rising Sun for regular service invtervals and for those rare times when something on a Nissan or Honda needs fixing. In all cases, the communication was excellent, the diagnosis was accurate, and the repair was perfect. I would recommend Rising Sun for anyone driving a Japanese car. more

Great Service at North location 3/11/2008

I have used Rising Sun two times for my Subaru and have found their service excellent, timely, and priced fairly. They ran diagnostic services to check out why my ABS light was coming on and did extra research to analyze that. No further repairs were warranted at that time so they didn't do any unnecessary repairs. The second time I used them I was towed and just dropped the car off the night before. They were able to repair the car by that afternoon. I really trust them. more

Excellent service 7/16/2007

I've always had excellent service at the S. Lamar location. Dave has gone out of his way several times to help me out. Repairs have always been done right, on time, and at a fair price. I can recommend Rising Sun without hesitation. I can't help but feel there must be more to the other reviewer's experience than he reveals here. more

One of the worst car repair experiences I've had 4/26/2006

Rising Sun Japanese Auto Repair continues to reign among the top WORST auto repair and customer service experiences I've had in the quarter-century I've lived in Austin. \r \r When we brought our Nissan Altima in to have the engine rebuilt, we were promised a two-week turnaround for replacement parts and re-assembly and given an estimate of $2500 for parts and labor.\r \r NINE WEEKS LATER, after we'd spent $5100 for the engine (parts and labor) and another $1100 on a rental car, we got our car back. The day after we got our car back, the engine began reeking of gasoline and I returned the car for repair. It turned out the repair people had used the same fuel injectors from the previous engine, which were worn and spraying gasoline all over the engine. We paid for new fuel injectors and got our car back in a week. \r \r Within three days, the very same thing happened. I complained to the owner about the quality of the repair and the delay in receiving the car, who simply backed up the more
