Just finished my third visit with Darren, and am so amazed how finished tattoo looks ! I thought i was finished with my body art, and came across Darren's work, and had to go for another, and my greatest tattoo yet. He is very creative, and makes sure he understands what you are looking for along with what is just on the design, a feeling of translating your ideas into amazing results. He and the staff made sure i was comfortable, and felt at ease.\r My mind is now busy with what to do next, and I have seen some great cover-ups at the shop. My next project, I should say ""our"" project will be to fix some bad work from my younger years. I know that Darren is the one to help !\r AND, the shop is nice and clean, a pleasant place to be. Music not too loud, professional staff, and very friendly. Highly recommended ! more

5 star tattoo service that won't break the bank!!! 7/6/2011

For a first timer, you might get a little queasy in the stomach, but they will do everything to make you feel right at home. more

My brother in law got a celtic ornament tattoed on his shoulder and partially back there. That's a damn nice job done! Very detailed and impressive! Now I feel like getting a tattoo myself honestly. more

Great Place 8/13/2010

This tattoo parlor is great, the people there are friendly and know what they are doing. I got my first tattoo here (by the owner). It was a great experience and tattoo came out great. I knew what I wanted already but couldn't find the right image. He did that for me and suggested I added a few more things to it. I ended up with the Perfect Tattoo, people give me compliments and ask where I got it. I went back and got my second tattoo there also. I highly recommend it! more

Great Parlor, from the time you walk thru the door, and talk to either the receptionist or any artist you realize, .... "This IS the place that I want to get my tattoo done". This is not your everyday average shop. Pros: Artists, Environment, Work Cons: hmmm...Can't think of one more

Easily the best in NYC 6/16/2010

This shop is true to tattooing. They are highly skilled in tribal, chinese, futuristic, traditional, portraits, you name it. I got a bunch of polynesian tribal work done by Joao and it's amazing. I keep going back for me. Pros: Best Artists Cons: None more

Don't think twice, it's alright. 2/19/2010

I did years of searching for a tattoo artist who was a "true" artist and not just some idiot with a needle. The staff at Rising Dragon represent a group of real artists and true professionals. If your goal is to have some truly original work done that you will get non-stop compliments about, then look no further. If you want some cheesy stock photo out of a book then go to one of the grimey shops found all over NY and elsewhere. Pros: Best tattoo shop in the city. Cons: You will want to get a million more tattoos done by them. more

OUTSTANDING 1/22/2010

About 18 months ago - I began working on full sleeves on both arms - in a tribal style. I worked with Darren Rosa - and have gotten an outstanding design, and really GREAT work. We discussed the things I liked - some images of designs.... and he came up with an outstanding design. The talent and professionalism of this shop is superb. New York City's Best 12/22/2009

I've been going to Rising Dragon for 6 years; I've had my back, chest piece, and half-sleeve done by the owner Darren Rosa. I am stopped all over the world by people asking where I had my work done. Darrens work has been featured in tattoo magazine several times (for which my work was pictured). It is truly unique- not something you just pull off a tattoo shop wall. The artists spend time fleshing out ideas with their clients and customize the work to their desires. Its a collaborative relationship that results in a one of a kind product. Best Looking Tattoos in NYC 11/20/2009

Rising Dragon is the best tattoo shop in NYC! All of the artists are friendly and extremely talented. Darren, the owner, is my tattoo artist and this year at the NYC Tattoo Convention at Roseland, we won the award for best tattoo of the night. Darren created this slamming tiger that took everyone's breath away. He also designed my two sleeves, which I receive compliments on wherever I travel. My sleeves are Japanese inspired; dragons, buddahs, koi fish, pagodas, spirit masks, All I can say is that the sleeves are really wicked and tell a intricate and cohesive story! And the colors are so intense. Check out Rising Dragons website for pics of my sleeve. You will not regret coming here, for you'll leave with a truly unique tattoo piece that nobody else will ever have! I'm getting ready to have my chest and legs done next. hey guys ive been going to darren since my sis and uncle took me their was i was 18 ..... i am now 25 and have 8 tatoos almost all custom made by the owner darren ... and i am going 2 more in 2 months with a personal design from darren..also my wife has 4 tattoos also done by darren .... i once made the mistake because i was inpatient and got a tattoo some where esle ... which was a huge mistake .... i had to have the guys at rising dragon fix that tattoo because of the bad artwork ... after that one mistake .. i only trust the guys from rising dragonn.... Pros: great atomsphere, great ppl, good artwork Cons: 1 hr parking at meter darren does not like it when i do it more

These folks also own Chelsea Tattoo, on 23rd street, which is where they used to be located. Darren, the owner, is the best artist in NYC, hands down. Check out his work on their site. Pros: AMAZING artists. more

Wonderful, Friendly, Clean, 5/7/2005

I came across Rising Dragon tattoo parlor in a search for a place to go to get a tattoo for my 18th birthday 5 months ago. It seemed pretty reputable, but I had to check the place out myself. The atmosphere was very inviting. The place is a lot bigger than it appears at first, with cubicles lined up, used by various artists and in the very back is the owner Darren's own office, where he tattoos. The portfolios were impressive, and the woman behind the main desk very endearing and helpful. I knew this was the place for me. I was lucky enough to have Darren be the chosen artist, and he did a fabulous job. I was allowed to have one friend with me during the process. Darren was funny and incredibly nice, which helped to calm my nerves. The process felt quicker than it actually was. I paid $100 for my tattoo, which I think for the work he did and how lovely it came out, it was well worth it. You get what you pay for. I recommended this place to a friend for her belly button piercing and more
