Ok, so it's beautiful outside today(4/17/09) and I'm sitting up on Rippy's patio working from here on my laptop. This is awesome! They have really good food and really cold beer, ...

The food is ok, for lower broadway, the service is bad. Ok place if you are a tourist in town for a convention, but I am not going back.

Too Expensive !! 11/18/2011

$140 for four people. I should have checked their prices before ordering. $5 warm beers. $7 for stale chips and canned salsa. Top dollar for plastic cups and paper napkins. At these prices you should eat at The Palm (next door). Too expensive for mediocre food !! more

It's Patio weather in Nashville!! 4/17/2009

Ok, so it's beautiful outside today(4/17/09) and I'm sitting up on Rippy's patio working from here on my laptop. This is awesome! They have really good food and really cold beer, but you have to see this patio. Something really bothered me just a little while ago to make me get on here though.....I just hope whomever I am refering to gets on here to complain and sees my statement! I was sitting up here, minding my own business and 4-5 guys come and sit at the table next to me. The patio is really busy and it take time(not long) for the bartender Beth to come greet them. From that point on they were in particular. Long story short...they almost ruined my time b/c they were such jerks! Cut these people a little slack. It's not like she wasn't up here workingreally hard. Anyway, I love this place and everyone who has ever waited on me. I've read through the rest of the reviews while sitting here and all I can say is that anyone that has a bad time here isn't the type of person that was going to have fun anyway. This place is clean, fun, has a great staff, and like I said....A GREAT ROOFTOP PATIO!!! Pros: Best Patio In Town, Great Staff, COLD BEER Cons: some of the other patrons more

Loved it! 3/19/2009

I'm a Texan & I've had my share of pork ribs, but let me tell you, these were the best ribs I ever had. The coleslaw was really good as well...not too sweet. My husband had the pulled chicken bbque sandwich and he thought it was just ok. The entertainment was fantastic and the beer was cold! If I'm ever back this way I will make it a point to get to Ribby's. Pros: Great Ribs & Coleslaw more

Awful service ok food 3/13/2009

I got to Rippys at 8pm on a Thursday night, a few patrons in the place maybe 20% capacity. I stood at the doorway for about 3 maybe 4 mins and not sure who worked there but no one said a word to me so I figured it was seat yourself. After seating myself I waited another 10 mins as I figured out why the service was so bad, 2 servers (one may have been the ""hostess"") where smoking cigarettes outside and 3 more appeared to be taking breaks inbetween serving others. All of this was occuring about 15 feet from my table. About 10 mins later a girl walked by and asked if was going to order something, (no hello, no menu and no manners) I said please. I guess when you're a popular spot there is no need to offer service. I got my food, it was ok but maybe now I'm biased. Go to Jack's across the street, the food is very good and the service is humble but present. more

All I can say is watch what they charge you very carefully! The bartenders there were overcharging us. When we questioned them, we were told they were charging some patrons more to make up for the people who don't leave big enough tips!!!! WTF!?!?? .......DON'T GO THERE!! more

Rippy's food 10/29/2008

My husband and I went to Rippy's in October on vacation. We loved the ribs and the pulled pork, but the very best part of the meal was the beans. They were spicy and delicious. I will definitely go back there the next time we go to Nashville. more

great ribs 10/21/2008

My wife and I visited rippy's for the first time this past weekend and we were very impressed by the food. We went on a sunday afternoon and they weren't that busy so we sat at the bar to watch the game. I ordered the sampler basket and my wife had the pulled pork with corn cakes. First of all the ribs were out of this world! they weren't the type of BBQ most people are used to, they are a dry BBQ (seasoned and smoked but no sauce). The buffalo wings were also great they were nice and crispy not to mention spicy. The basket also came with sliced tenderloin that tasted fine but was a bit dry. Next time I'll just order the wings as a starter and the get the ribs. My wife loved her sandwich and her corn cakes she said the were just like granny made them when she was a kid (Granny is from rural alabamma). The service was promp and polite and the place was very clean. We went to rippys on the recomendation of a friend from wisconsin and we thank him for the tip. more

Sorry but improvements are needed. 9/19/2008

My family and I where real hungry and most of the other places we walked by had long lines. We where too hungry to wait in a line so we kept walking and found Rippy's. There was no line and we got right in (should have been the first indicator). The enviroment was nice and I didn't note any issue with not being clean like other reviews that I read. However the service was less than I expected. Our waitress would only make occasional appearances and would dissapear. The food was also bad. My wife and two children as well as myself are not what I would consider real picky (especially when we are real hungry), but we all commented how we wish we would have stood in line somewhere else. Pros: The location and atmosphere looked nice Cons: Service and food was not worth it. more

WHAT HAPPENED!? 9/14/2008

I don't remember this place being so BAD! I ate there a few years ago and it was fine. We ate there last night and it was HORRID! The place was FILTHY, the food was disgusting. The waitress needed a shower. I would take a fire hose to the place if I owned it. Cons: EVERYTHING! more

Do not go here 8/10/2008

This understaffed tourist trap is a waste of time with so many great bars just steps away. The waitress ignored our food order and we waited 15 minutes for our beers, which ended up not being the ones we wanted. Poor choice of food and expensive. Good luck trying to get food up to your patio table. Pros: nice patio Cons: service non existant on patio even with the bar and staff up there more

Great food, service, and ambience! 7/27/2008

What makes Rippy's special is its fabulous service and ambience. The food is good too, but it's pretty standard bar food. What we especially liked was sitting on the upper balcony and enjoying the evening air while listening to the sounds of country music from downstairs and along the strip. The burgers and fried fish were satisfying and tasty, and our server was friendly and accommodating. It's our new favorite spot on the row! Pros: Great balcony, service, & music! Cons: Food is not amazing, but still very good! more

Loved it :o) 7/22/2008

Rippy's was GREAT! We recently went to Nashville for a fun vacation and had such a great experience here. Our server, Elliot, was the best as well as some of the other staff members (Jamie and Daniel). The manager made us feel right at home (Kenneth) and we will be sure to go back there the next time we are in Nashville. I felt like I was in a bar ""where everyone knew your name."" Pros: Staff is great more

Great service!! 7/19/2008

I just wanted to say that this is the only bar downtown where we get good service!!! We have tried almost everywhere down there and can't seem to get a drink if we don't know the bartender. I just wanted to say Kudos on the friendly staff they have at Rippy's! I've seen a lot of reviews that say otherwise, but I have never had a problem with anyone or the service I've received! If anyone gets bad service in this bar, it's probably because they are unbearable, rude customers! Pros: Great staff, awesome patio Cons: a little crowded sometimes especially during events & conventions more

Warning 7/19/2008

Recently we were attending a convention in Nashville, TN, and had lunch at Rippy's Ribs. The food was OK, nothing to recommend. The Waiter, Chris, was rude, not attentive and we had trouble getting our check when we were finished eating. Rippy's Ribs was the only place in Nashville that we used our VISA card. VISA called us shortly afterwards to inform us that our card's number had been used in Stone Mountain , GA, and Atlanta, GA. We tried to call Rippy's and speak to the manager. She, Jen, didn't have time to speak with us. Be careful in this restaurant! Pros: Close to convention center Cons: Rude waitstaff, watch use of credit card more

Poor BBQ at best! 7/9/2008

The ribs were not at all tender, not moist and were tough! There is no real BBQ sauce applied, just an attempt to add a rub, an excess amount of red pepper and a cook process that rendered tough bones! I've had numerious ribs around the US and these are truly some of the worst for the ratings this place has. Service was also fairly poor. I would not recommend this place for BBQ when in Nashville. more

I went to Nashville for a show, and before the show I wondered up and down Broadway taking in all the fun and kitschy shops. My friends and I thought that Rippys looked liked like a good place to eat so we went in. We stood there inside and was not greeted. We were ignored for a couple of minutes then finally seated. The hostess was nice, but our waiter was RUDE and very condescending towards all of us! He was in a hurry for us to order, and like I said he rude when we did place our order. I chose the bbq sandwich and I was horrified! Worst bbq I have ever had!! And from the time he took our order until the time we left, we never saw our waiter at our table again! Yes, we saw him ignore us and walk passed us really fast, but that was it. We sat there for 15 minutes waiting for our check, and had to have another waitress get his attention to give it to us, but he gave it to her to give to us instead of him walking it over! All in all, it was a horrible experience! I will NEVER go back and I advise others to be careful of their male waiters, because they are very RUDE, and the food was not good at all !!!! Pros: Hot french fries? Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE and HORRIBLE FOOD!!!! more

RUDE waitstaff 4/21/2008

I had the misfortune of visting Rippy's before the Preds playoff game on Wed. 4/16/08 and will never return. My friends and I were meeting several others pre-game on the roof patio seating, and we had never been up to that area before. As we are walking through the bar, I see a waitress kneeling down near the door that I think might be the way to the roof. So I approach her, kneeling down next to her, and ask ""Is this the way to the roof?"" She spins around, and yells "" YEAH if you'll let me get out of the way first!!!"" and slams the door to the cabinet she was looking in, storming off in the process. Are you kidding me? I can assure you that the way I asked was polite (being a former retail/customer service worker I know how to treat others). Granted the bar was very busy, but thats no excuse for being rude and providing extremely poor service. I wouldn't suggest this bar ever again, unless you are the only person there and the waitresses have a lot of free time. Pros: decent BBQ Cons: rude waitstaff, no space, overpriced, have NO idea how to handle crowds more

Rippy's Rocks!! 11/20/2007

My husband and I went to Rippy's before a Preds game about a week ago and had the best time ever!! We went downtown on the off chance that we'd be able to get tickets to the game, but we couldn't afford what the ticket guys wanted for decent seats. It didn't matter though. We walked into Rippy's and got a table in their sidebar right away even though they were very busy. We had a server greet us within 3 minutes even with it being packed and she was the cutest little thing ever....I think her name was Laura, but I'm not sure. Anyway, we asked for the game to be put on the tv and it was done immediately with sound!!! Pros: Great Service, great food Cons: A little pricey, but it's downtown more

Rude Servicer 9/10/2007

I went to meet two friends who already had a table, the servicer came over and took my friends order and walked away as if I was not even sitting there, 20 minutes later she finally came back to take my order and told me that it would be 45 minutes before my food would be ready. I ask her why she did not take my order before when she took the orders of my friends and she became rude and told me ""I guess your not eating"" and walked away. I will never go to this restaurant again. more
