A Diamond (still a little rough) 2/13/2011

We love Rick's food. We've loved it for years. Just visited again this week. So much better than the franchise places in the Merrimack Valley! Food is always creative, fresh and a solid value for the high quality. Homemade chicken cutlets & tenders, pasta sauces, great appetizers, salad dressings and inexpensive, yet pleasing, wines by the glass, etc. Sometimes, service can be a little shaky. They may not realize they are out of an item until after an order is placed...or it might not be available on that evening. Mistakes are made on orders or the pacing just seems to be slower than necessary, (thus no five stars.) There are always sincere apologies and corrections quickly made to deliver our delicious dishes. (We're all human.) The dining room is very clean and quaint with it's fireplace, but somehow lacks complete sophistication & polish. (Crooked, small photos in flimsy, plastic frames & Christmas decorations stacked on the stairs - not in the way of the patrons' walkway - but piled up & not stashed away out of view.) It doesn't mesh with the oil paintings or more ""colonial"" Old New England charm of the dining room. We will return again & again for the wonderful food at a value price. We do enjoy it! Thanks Rick & staff. more

Fun and cozy! 1/19/2009

This fun and cozy restaurant located in the middle of Kingston, NH is a well kept secret that should be better known. The building is old, giving it a cozy feel. The fireplace in the dining room is a nice romantic spot. The tavern is fun with the bartenders eclectic choices in music and a serve yourself popcorn machine. The menu has everything from ""The best Corned Beef Rueban this side of NY"" (It really is too!) to a Mixed Game grille with alligator, buffalo, kangaroo, ostrich and even rocky mountain oysters! It is easy to get stuffed from the big portions so save room for desert! They have table side banana's foster! Highly recommended! Pros: Cozy, fun, tastey! Cons: a little out of the way, but worth it! more
