Leslie at RM is amazing with coloring. I have dark hair and always prefer brown highlights over blond highlights. I've tried many other salons and have gotten all colors of the rainbow as opposed to just brown. Leslie used ""baliage"" technique as well as full color. I've also gotten haircuts from Leslie in the past which have been great as well. He cuts the appropriate amount of length and listens to your needs. more

When I was first introduced to Rick Buckler at Riccardo Maggiore Salon, I was trying to figure out how I would get rid of the technicolor tones and shades of unwanted colors that had settled into my hair and return to my natural color. I had gone gray at a fairly young age, and was always a bit anxious about the whole coloring process. I had seen two colorists over the years - prior to Rick - and can say with confidence I have found the right person to turn any tricks my aging hair may pull - back on track. Rick Buckler is an extremely talented professional colorist who also has a great sense of humor and humanity. How lucky I feel to be able to spread the word on such a special find in this big city! more

I was visiting NYC - I knew this place was good, but didnt know who to have. BY luck i get Ernie... I would never go to a different hairdresser but mine in London had just left the salon so I was about 2 months into needing a good cut but too afraid to try a new one. This guy was honest about my hair and gave me confidence to try something different. I love hairdressers that know what looks good on people and not afraid to make suggestions. I went to the Riccardo Maggiore salon last week, and I'm so glad I did. This was the first time I went to Marina and she gave me the best highlights I have ever had in my life! She talked to me about my hair and suggested a highlight lowlight technique with a conditioning glaze to tone the hair. Always before at other salons I have had the foils in my hair, but Marina treated my hair like silk. She painted each highlight and lowlight like an artist. The results were amazing! So natural and close to the root. This will definitely last me a long time! I'm so glad I tried someone different. And I have to say that unlike a lot of hairdressers who seem stuck up and chit chat so much that I feel like I have to make small talk about their lives instead of just relaxing. Marina is super-nice and friendly, not superficial. We talked for a bit and then I was able to read my book and enjoy my (complementary) cappuccino and leave feeling great. I want to thank city search for allowing me to read reviews. Thanks to The Lamas Beauty message board for the comments about Leslie Correa. (Formerly of Capelli D?Oro Salon) I went and saw him last week for my color correction. My hair was severely damaged due to bad color at another salon in the area! Leslie fixed my hair and did a Keratin treatment that made my hair feel luxurious again. My color looks amazing too. He is so professional and very handsome. I found my new colorist! Pros: Very warm and personable environment. Cons: There should be more Colorist like ""Leslie"", but there is only 1 and I'm sure glad he is my Colorist!!! more

Although the salon is 'high end', and the stylists (at least the one who serviced me) are good, there is something missing. When I visited the salon this week, I called to confirm my time and it took for-ev-er for my call to be answered. Then, when I arrived, the check in process wasn't at all smooth. You'd think this type of salon would have this down. If you are watching your dollars, try somewhere else. Leslie Correa is the best Brazilian Keratin and Japanese straightening expert in NYC. He turned my chemically destroyed, frizzy, out-of-control hair into such gorgeous shiny straight hair that colleagues often pass me by without recognizing me. Last year, he closed his salon (Capelli D?Oro) and took Mayra and a few other staff members to Riccardo Maggiore. This is a truly beautifyl, elegant, and classy salon, so the first time I went there, I was nervous (because I'm a ""sweats and sneakers"" woman). But Riccardo came over to greet me and was charming. And like him, his staff is friendly and warm. And like me, most of the clients wear jeans and sneakers. \r \r Before I met Leslie, my hair always looked dreadful because it was wiry, frizzy, and badly damaged from all the processes I had tried over the years (reverse perms, straightening, ironing it, etc). At the end of my consultation, he said, ?I sense how terribly nervous you are. Please trust me. I promise that I?ll be totally honest with you and I won?t do anything to damage your hair.? And he was true to his word: He made my straight and shiny, and it NEVER frizzes. Most of the time, I don?t even blow-dry it. I just comb it and let it dry straight.\r \r I have now had six BKTs done by Leslie, and each one made my hair feel and look healthier. And Leslie?s wife Mayra is a talented colorist who colors my hair every three weeks (because I?m totally gray). I came to Riccardo Maggiore with a big problem, - resistant grays and hair that was very very black. . My hair was a medium brown but colorist over the years in many different salons just kept making my color darker to cover these resistant gray hairs that refused to take the color. Marcus, the colorist at the salon brought my hair to its natural color. He truly knows what he is doing and understands color. I had a makeover at the Riccardo Maggiore Salon. I had tried a number of high end salon over the past 15 years but this one is truely a great find, I happened to go there for the first time the day after they filmed a shoot for the ""Sx in the City movie"". I can see why they chose to film there Its a great salon. My first time there I had my hair cut and color done by Riccardo and my eyebrows done by Elena. They were outstanding. I had a thorough consultation with Riccardo, he asked me about my work, lifestyle, he discussed the looks I liked and why they would or would not work. Riccardo's hair cuts last forever. Elena the waxing specialist is a perfectionist. I have never seen my eyebrows look this good. I have very difficult eyebrows, I have a scar and my eyebrows were uneven but they have never looked as good. I have been back a number of time since then and the services are always great. I am a regular client at the salon and have been getting my hair colored there for over a year. Marcus Garcia does an excellent job. He is truly an artist.
