Good hometown theatre 4/23/2009

The Rialto, and its sister theatre in Cranford, carry most of the popular movies. They're smaller than the mega-theatres on Rt. 22 and have teh advantage that you can walk around the corner and have a meal or a drink. The Rialto's makeover was a great improvement. It's nice to have a theatre in town that kids can walk to. more

Management is rude and condescending. They arbitrarily cancel movies and refuse refunds, rather substituting a guest pass with an expiration date. It stinks inside and has poor sound quality. The Cranford Theater is nice. So is the Lowes on Route 22. more

Older but nice 8/20/2005

This theater doesn't have the stadium seating and rocking chairs but it has the sense of the fun you had when you were a child going to the movies. It is small but you could really enjoy yourself. A slight step back is that on the weekends it is the big hangout spot for the teenagers and sometimes they can be a little loud in the theater more

This a great theater 8/4/2005

I visited Rialto Theatre of Westfield with my wife right after we moved to Scotch Plains. We are surprised to find it is a very decent theater, although it's not as big as AMC 24 we used to visit. It's nice. We really enjoyed all the movies we watched there. People are very nice there. more

Rialto Theatre of Westfield, NJ 7/13/2005

The Rialto is the small movie theater in Westfield, NJ. Located in the downtown area, the Rialto is a relatively small theater featuring around 4 to 5 movies. The location of the Rialto makes it convient due to the restaurants and retail stores nearby. Therefore many people, espisally teens, enjoy to catch a good movie. At the Rialto, expect to see new films and the occasional independent. Many may not be too comfortable with the small theater size, but rest assured, it's clean and very comfortable (temperature wise). Also, the concession stand provides an ample amount of food choices and the bathroom facilities are very clean. Parking is usually limited on the street, so try to arrive before the showing of your movie. more
