Even though the drive is longer, I prefer this theatre over most others in the area simply b/c it is more comfortable, smells nicer and they have a greater selection of concession...

Great Entertainment 4/6/2006

The Rialto is one in a million as far as theaters go. the theater shows for the most part only high quality independent movies, and they do so in an old style theater with just one box office (gasp). They serve alchoholic beverages (a rareity for NC) and on Friday nights always show the Rocky Horror Picture Show, a event frequented by high schoolers, but everyone should attend at some point in their life. more

Even though the drive is longer, I prefer this theatre over most others in the area simply b/c it is more comfortable, smells nicer and they have a greater selection of concessions (albeit pricey). Still no movie times posted anywhere besides a newspaper - who wants to waste money on one of those when you have the internet? more

One of the last best theaters on earth! 8/5/2005

You won't find summer blockbusters complete with car chases and explosions at the Rialto. If however sophisticated, intelligent independent films and foreign cinema are your cup o' java, you won't want to miss this fantastic old theater. Located close to the 5 Corners neighborhood of inner beltline Raleigh, the Rialto has been delighting theater patrons for decades. Its customers keep coming back, making this place a treasure for those who know about it. For everybody else, there's always those megaplexes up the road in the suburbs. But don't count on any showings of movies that are actually good. The good ones will be flickering on the screen at the Rialto. more

Renovated Movie House in Five Points 7/14/2005

The Rialto is one of the only movie theaters in Raleigh that shows limited release, independent, and controversial movies. They have the typical movie food, but also a small bar that serves alcohol. Every Friday night at midnight they host the chaos that comes with a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing, which is a unique experience unto itself. The Burning Coal Theatre Company, a non-profit theatre company that does a wide variety of interactive plays, is based out of the Rialto. Some of the best movies I have seen in the past year have been at The Rialto. Unlike some other smaller theaters, they have Dolby Surround Sound and every seat in the house has a good view of the screen. more

Rialto - The place to go for independent movies 7/9/2005

The Rialto is located in the fashionable Five Points area of Raleigh. It is basically one quite large theater that slopes down (not quite stadium seating, but not flat) towards the big screen. They tend to show some of the cooler independent films currently out. Plus, every week, they have a midnight screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which is pretty fun(ny!). It is very popular and costuming is a must! They also have popcorn & sodas, plus beer for the folks who want some suds with their movie. It is also located very close to a number of cool restaurants, so if you want to do dinner-and-a-movie, this is a perfect place to go. more

Wonderful theater 7/2/2005

The Riaalto is a 1950's theater, that looks just like it did back in the 1950's. if your looking for blockbuster movies,a nd fantastic sound systemss the rialto is not for you. they do however get a great assortment of indie and artsy films and show the rockly horror pictures show every friday night without fail. more

Art lover 6/19/2005

The Rialto home is an old 50's style theater in the five points area. the theater looks the same as it did back then, no fancy renovations or stadium seating here. What you will find are great artsy and independent films that you wont be able to find anywhere else. Friday nights the theater hosts the Rocky Horro pictre show that has a huge high school student draw, but can be fune for the older folks as well. more
