Owner is a Nut Case 6/22/2011

I bought a very expensive pair of Kawasaki frames and lenses and they told me they would be ready in 10 days. I waited 43 days and after several phone calls, I went in and asked what gives? They tried to give me the run around and was told that they were having ""production problems""! Production problems? I asked the young lady what really happened and she eventually told me that the owner was not able to pay his lab bill and everything was on hold! She was very nice, I contacted the owner Gary Phiel and he went into a screaming fit! I asked for a refund and he said that they ""don't give refunds ever"" I ased to be comensated for having to wait so long for my glasses and I thought he was going to attack me. He was yelling wild and out of control! ""What about my problems"" he ranted! I got my glasses after a 68 day wait! They were fine, but the owner needs to go to a shrink! They say they have been in Portland since 1910, hard to imagine that, when they behave like mental patients! I paid $470 for the glasses and have never been treated in such a manner! Watch out for this place, not only bad service, but is it worth risking you're life over? more

Nice guys finish last! 9/24/2010

..had I only read the reviews before buying! I ordered glasses from Reynolds as opposed to Binyons, Lens Crafters or Costco as I like to support local businesses....I've been waiting for my glasses now for 2 weeks..I called the store and no one picked up after 15 rings...the store couldn't be coosed, it was a weekday..??I called back and was told they were going to check on my glasses, and they will call me right back...that was yesterday...still waiting..will I ever get them? Will let you know, and will let you know the quality. more

Watch out for the Owner 11/23/2009

I was treated OK by the staff and they have some pretty nice products and two for one deal was reasonable. That is untill I had a problem, glasses were making me dizzy. I went to the shop and the young kid did not do anything and just said ""the perscription is as written"". I went to another Optician and he told me that the optical was not on center and that I am getting prism effect. Went back to Reynolds and met owner Gary Phiel and he said; ""that I waited to long to bring them back and warranty does not apply"" I was led to believe I had a year warranty on this product.? I did some checking and it turnes out he made Rouge of the week in a local paper as he destroyed 1050 patient medical charts and admitted it in court documents. Why? Because he was in a dispute with the doctor. If he does that to them he will do the same to you! Watch out for this person. Pros: Nice Selection of frames Cons: Rougue of the Week? more

Thanks reviewers! 4/23/2009

I am just now in the market for some new frames. I would like to thank the reviewers of Reynolds, here at Citysearch, for saving me some time/hassle. If the only person that has anything real and positive to say is someone that worked there, something just isn't right. I will be going elsewhere- thanks for saving me the trouble! Pros: doesn't look like much Cons: apparently the customer service more

2 sides to every story 3/31/2009

I used to work there and know how hard it is when helping unreasonable customers. Pros: fun frames Cons: small business more

this place is the WORST.....the positive reviews below MUST be fake!!! 6/30/2008

The half-dozen or so reviews below have GOT to be done by the staff and/or friends of the staff or owners of this despicable excuse for a business!! Cons: horrendous service, poor quality products more

Cool Dr, Fun staff, Funky frames 5/28/2008

Thanks to the staff at Reynolds who helped me pick out my s3xy new glasses! I got 2 pair for what I would have paid for one at other optical places. The Dr made me feel totally comfortable during the exam and then the staff made me feel right at home while we picked out my new frames. It was nice not to feel pressured to buy, but to just have a good time finding what would look great on me! Thanks again! I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants good service and cool eyewear. Pros: Comfortable atmosphere Cons: 2 week wait time-But worth it! more

worst business I've ever dealt with 1/12/2008

On May 5th, 2007, I ordered two pairs of glasses from this place, costing me about $800 total (this was a ""sale"", where one pair was ""free""). One pair was defective, so I asked them to redo them (I returned them within two days). They never called to offer me any options or info about what they were doing (I had asked about various lens choices to hopefully correct the original problem), and they ended up doing absolutely nothing for about three weeks. Sarah (a manager) was our contact person for the whole ordeal. Tons of calls made by me, NO proactive service on their part the whole time. Finally, they redid the glasses with lenses that were $100 cheaper than the ones originally ordered, and when I asked for the difference to be refunded I was refused, and told they had ""bent over backwards"" for us. Hmmm, yeah I guess three to four weeks of NO communication and no sunglasses to wear is bend-over-backwards service?!?! Thanks Reynolds!!! After several more phone calls to the manager, she finally agreed to issue me a refund of $50, which met me halfway for the $100 I had asked for (keep in mind the glasses were being redone with lenses that COST $100 LESS THAN WHAT I HAD ALREADY PAID......I was just trying to get that price difference refunded and was not even asking for anything to make up all the time I wasted and frustration I experienced while they sat on their asses doing nothing). So SEVERAL MORE weeks go by, and I finally get a check...for $25!! Unbelievable. So I call, and after at least a week of discussion/hounding them/not hearing back Sarah agrees to issue another check for $75. It took several more calls and at least two more weeks to get the rest. Unreal. Reynolds are the most incompetent, irresponsible, rude, arrogant, useless business I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Cons: horrendous service, poor quality products more

Buyer Beware!!! 1/9/2008

I have been wearin glasses for a long time. I have never had such a bad experience. They may have nice frames, but that's where it ends. They are clueles about optical lenses; they tell you they only sell the best & then fill your Rx with cheap lenses. When called on it, they will ""upgrade"" for an additional fee after an argument. Customer service is not a phrase they comprehend. Buy the frames if you must, but go elsewhere for the lenses. Personally, I wouldn't even step fot in their stores again. They stink!!! (Read the reviews under all the other stores if you're not yet convinced.) Pros: Not worth it. Cons: POOR customer service; inexperienced staff. more
