I have been going there for 15 years. Most of the food is not very spicy but I like that. The chile rellenos are to die for. They now have a new chip (the old one wasn't much) ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/26/2013

I have been going to this restaurant for years and years, since I was little. I have never once complained about the horrible servce, rude servers, or bland food. Today my food was wrong so I decided to let them know. After talking to the manager/owener/cook whatever he was, I was told I was a liar. He made my food himself and it was not wrong. He continued to argue with me about the issue, where has customer service gone???? Not at this place, if you go don't tell them anything negative about the place, they will not listen. They are always right. On a side note, the food has been tasting worse and worse over the years. I am done going to Restaurant Morelia's. more

I love this place! Have frequented 5/31/2013

I love this place! Have frequented for many years and is consistently good. Not spicy but great flavor! Don't forget to try the Rellano more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/10/2012

Go later in the evening. I love the place. I have been going there for 10 years. They are busy service is slow. Need more parking more

Nice Toilet Food 4/13/2012

The food and service there is decent. However the last time I went there I was seated at a tiny table right between the restrooms and the kitchen. Absolutely Ridiculous! Worst dining experience I've had for years! We won't be going back!!! more

I love the place 8/21/2011

I have been going there for 15 years. Most of the food is not very spicy but I like that. The chile rellenos are to die for. They now have a new chip (the old one wasn't much) which is light and crunchy-excellent and I could make a meal of the fresh salsa (my wife eats it with a spoon) And I always have the churros for an appetizer. This is my kind of place.(lots of other people's too because it always has lots of customers) more

Below Average Food 1/18/2011

Very bland and below average Mexican food--our food had zero kick to it and not a lot of flavor. The service was OK, but not great as our waitress was zipping around like crazy--the place was very busy and the parking was... well INSANE. I'm a little perplexed at how busy and popular it is as I can name a dozen Mexican food places in the valley that are much better. more

No Special Requests 4/6/2009

If you don't see what you want on the menu....don't ask for it. I wanted a simple chicken burrito and was denied by the wait staff. Service is sub-par, I like to have a full beverage in front of me when I eat. The wait staff delivered some drinks when we first sat down and did not come back to offer refills. During our meal we never saw our waitress, she never came by to ask if everything was okay. This was my fourth and final time to Morelias. Every experience at this restaurant has nearly been the same. Pros: Convient Location Cons: Zero Service. more

Great food not so great service 3/10/2009

The food was great but service was not. There seemed to be no manager on shift and the credit card machine was not working properly more

Only the 2nd worst 2/4/2009

Wow people! You are really missing out, if you think this is good mexican food. more

If you're from CO, TX or NM - Stay Away! 11/17/2008

Yikes! After reading the reviews I decided I'd give it a try. Chili Verde - means ""green chili"" - correct? It was boiled pork stew. Even Stokes out of the can is better than what they serve. I asked for a bowl of green chilis and was given a look like a deer in the head lights. All I could get was a bowl of sliced pickled jalapenos; and even they had no heat. The tortillas were rubber, the salsa was sweet, and the chips were thick and greasy. If you are from Colorado, Texas, or New Mexico, avoid this place like the plague. If you're a white-bread, Taco Bell-loving caucasian this place is for you. Cons: All more

just okay 8/15/2008

My husband and I recently moved from Orange County and he has been homesick for his mom's cooking. Well a friend at work LOVES this place and so we went to try it out because its really close to our home. It was okay. Kinda bland, but good size portions, decent price. The service was EXCELLENT though. Our waitress was always there with a refill on our drinks (which is awesome in the middle of the day during the summer). The parking is kinda scarce. I think we'll continue on our search for more authentic ""like mom makes"". Pros: service Cons: parking more

best mexican in town 6/18/2008

Morelia's is hands down the BEST Mexican food in town. There salsa is delicious!!! Prices are great! If you want fresh authentic Mexican food go to Morelia's. The owner David is in the kitchen cooking every night ensuring that the best food is served! Sometime there is a slight wait but completely worth it!!! more

The Real Truth!! 3/25/2008

Taco Bell was across the street and throughout the meal I couldn't help but think how lucky all the people were that were walking into Taco Bell. Restaurant is in what looks like an old IHOP. Food tastes like it was out of a can! Pros: Good service Cons: Terrible Food!! Beets and Mexican food???? more

Great, cheap Mexican food! 10/29/2006

I have been going to Restaurant Morelia for years. It continues to be my favorite for homestyle (like my mom's cooking) Mexican food. I love that it is always served up hot. The servers are always polite. They don't change servers very often so they must be great to work for. I don't care what color or age they are, it's the service that counts. The cooks are always the same, so the food is always consistent. My favorites are chile rellenos, chile verde burritos, rice and beans. My kids love it too. They are actually one of the few restaurants that don't load cheese on top of their food. Of course, there are a few dishes that have the obligatory cheese. Oh, and save room for some flan! It is so good. Pros: Good food, prices, service Cons: Sometimes parking is bad. more

Average service, Average food 9/7/2006

I was surprised at all of the positive reviews. The prices are great although the cheap lunch menu is very small. There was so much cheese melted on the plate it could choke a horse. The biggest complaint I have is the cold, hard chips that appear to have been a deal at Sam's club. There is nothing authentic about chips that are not homemade and not warm. Although we had a native, attentive waitress there were middle-aged white women waitressing. Where is there a Mexican restaurant in SLC that has Mexican servers? Pros: Good salsa, reasonable prices Cons: Cold, hard chips, Not authentic more

Best in Town 3/6/2006

This place is the absolute best Mexican restaurant in town. The chili verde is too die for!! The service is always fast and friendly. The prices are very, very reasonable. Everything on the menu is excellent - I've just about tried it all. The fresh salsa is wonderful! I just can't say enough great things about this place. I recommend this palce to everyone!!! Pros: wonderful food, service, best chili verde Cons: parking, long wait on weekends, small restaurant more

A favorite place to eat for years 11/17/2005

The open kitchen where patrons are welcome to say ""Hi"" and ""Thanks"" to the cooks is great. The food is very mexican (although cheddar cheese is used for nearly all of the dishes) and tastes great. The prices are inexpensive and the staff is friendly. The parking lot is small and there isn't much available on the street, but just north on State Street is a large parking lot (don't park at the floral shop!). The seating is comfortable although it is loud when the restaurant is full (almost always). We always go early (before 4:30pm) to avoid the crowds. Pros: Taste, Friendly service, Good prices Cons: limited parking, loud when crowded, always crowded 4 dnnr more

Almost better than Abuelas!!!(sshhh!!) 5/29/2005

Aside from mi abuelas, this is where my family gathers together for some authentic mexican food. Their salsa is made fresh numerous times a day, not just once in the morning and meant to last all night. Everything is freshly made! They have a great menu with AMAZING prices. My husband loves the Larry Miller Combo wich is a huge dinner, I love the chicken flautas and my 6 yr old; who is generaly a picky eater and whom I can't get to eat enough; loves the cheese enchaladas which she eats every LAST BITE! Left overs are even better the next day. Even if you can't eat any more, you must try the churros. Their not your typical churros you see at Albertos, these are the real deatl!!! This whole place is amazing!! They take the cake!!! Pros: Price, Authentic Food, Family Owned Cons: limited parking more

Good eats and cheap! 3/30/2005

This is a very casual place. Family owned and run. The fish tacos are yummy. The group I was with had mixed reviews. Some loved the fajitas and others thought they wer just ""eh"". Pork verde had a big thumgs up from the group. Prices are very inexpensive. The salsa is fresh and worth the trip. Parking, on the other hand, is hard to find and might deter you, as will the wait for a table. It is a popular place after all. Pros: food, service Cons: parking more
