WOW!! THANKSGIVING DINNER! 11/26/2011

We were in NYC for Thanksgiving and did not make any plans for dinner. Stayed on 40th near 9th Ave. and just started wallking. We just happened to find this place with a reasonable price. Upon walking in the place we were really not impressed until taken further back into the restaurant where there was much more room for the 5 of us. more

Great Diner If You Don't Want To Spend Too Much 2/17/2009

A good place to eat if you don't have too much money to spend. The menu is impressive. They have everything a diner is supposed to and more- pizzas, milk shakes and cold sandwiches to Chicken Francaise, onion soup, pasta Primavera, baked potatoes, etc. Most of the food is delicious and the size is good for the price too. No wait line. The servers are nice and bring everything fast. The only thing I didn't like is the chicken quesadilla I ordered - not too much chicken, but lots of salsa. That was the worst food I haver ever seen and tasted. The burger tasted every bit like a frozen patty, the chickern fingers were burnt and greasy, the fries were undercooked. It was not a good day for them or something. We had it delivered to our hotel room andcalled them to come and pick up the food and return our money. They said they would, but never showed. Fav Diner in the Hood! 6/8/2008

I'm a local to the neighborhood and have been eating here for longer than I can remember. The food is consistently tasty. I LOVE that you can get turkey bacon as an alternative. The bagels are fresh and chewy. The room with the skylight at the back is a quiet diversion from the noise of the street ,and would be great for big groups. Sometimes the waiters will toss a little attitude, but I've gotten numb to that living in NY. The bottom line is my special requests are always filled to my liking. Delivery is timely too! The low prices are one of the few hold overs in a neighborhood who all to often forgets it's roots. It's my favorite diner in the hood. GREAT BURGERS - WORST SERVICE! 3/1/2008

I have never had consistently bad service from any restaurant ever! Great burgers - but really tremendously bad service. The staff acts annoyed you ask for anything, and is unprofessional at all times. It's too bad - because it's so depressing to eat good food while having to deal with the terrible attitudes of the staff. more

Delivery took EXCESSIVELY long to arrive, by the time the food got here, it was cold. Delivery person was rude. When I called the diner to inquire about my delivery, they were rude and hung up on me. In addition, am not a fan of grubhub...do not like the set up nor have I been impressed by the restaurants. more

Cheap food, bad service 3/26/2007

After nightclubs there's nothing better them a diner to eat something and chill out... we went to Renaissance last week and we had a terribel service. A very tall guy with a very bad looking and looking to us like ""get out quick"". The hostess was very friendly. The food was ok for a diner, but even paying the 20% we dont recomend you to be served buy that guy! People enjoy life and when we go out we want have fun because we have our own job to and we work hard. But it's ok!! I recomend the chicken make with lime sauce!! Pros: Good Prices Cons: Bad service!! more

Really good burgers 9/17/2006

I went here with a friend because we didn't feel like sitting down and doing the whole 'proper dinner' deal one evening. I was really pleasantly surprised! I had a BBQ Burger and it was super yummy. Plus they let me get veggies instead of fries. more

Three strikes and it's out! 8/4/2005

I've eaten here three times from Aug 04 to 05 because my friends keep picking it for lunch. But never again. The food is terrible, the prices only so-so, the service is also terrible. We usually wait 20 minutes for food to arrive (cold). We never get all our food without repeatedly asking for it. We've been charged for items never received. There's no ambience. The only good thing is generous portions. Pros: generous portions Cons: awful food, terrible service, no ambience more

Great little place along 9th ave 4/1/2004

On a recent trip, walked up 9th avenue looking for little diner or coffee shop. Found the renaissance and ended up going back two more times. Typical diner fare, decent prices, good portions. Plus...they take a credit card! Get one of the three booths in the window in front and watch NYC pass you buy while you chow down. They serve breakfast all day and there's a counter. Lots of regulars came in for carryout. Larger room in back for bigger parties. Pros: Value, Portion, Service more

Still in Love After 6-Years 10/8/2003

A third shift co-worker on the west side introduced me to their menu ... anything I wanted, when I wanted it at a price I could work with! I read the menu ... ok, so you've got an indoor/outdoor dining area and working fire place ... big deal. As long as my order was delivered promptly and correctly nothing else mattered. Well, I finally visited their facility (four years after the first take-out order). I'm just in love with the adorable little diner's atmosphere as I am with their FOOD-->>at ALL hours of the day<<--AB-FAB and two thumbs up! Pros: GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE, GREAT GROG more

Great Neighborhood Staple 7/10/2003

Since moving into the area, Renaissance has continued to be the chamption of round the clock dining. Great place to go after a night on the town or for an early breakfast. Service is good (even at 4am) and the portions are big. Usually you get a friendly staff member. The outside garden is nice to sit in and I highly recommend Peanut Butter Shakes. Pros: extensive menu, great hours more

A wonderful diner. The service is phenomenal and the food is even better. Make sure to try their chicken salads, veggie burgers, and their sweet, sweet potatoe fries. You can have a great meal for $10 - 20 dollars. ENJOY! more
