Grand old hotel in downtown Cleveland. Classic old-time feel. Rooms a bit small, and get city noise, but as expected might find in big... more

Sans Souci 8/17/2010

When we travel to Cleveland from Chicago, Sans Souci is a must on our dining destinations. We have gone to Sans Souci for over 20 years with business associates and family members and have been consistently impressed. Whether we had lamb, angel hair lobster pasta, veal osso bucco, or NY strip steak --- the food is outstanding. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The decor is stunning -- the woodwork is spectacular. Kudos to the chef and management team who make Sans Souci worth going back to time and time again. We are savvy diners and we give this place a solid five stars. PS: It is so nice to take someone to dinner and have them say, "gosh, this meal was outstanding!" more

Very good, but not one of my top ten 9/28/2009

I agree with jewel33. Although the food was good (and not as expensive as we thought it would be) and service was excellent, the food (except for the bread and lemon custard dessert) and the old and dreary d?cor did not impress us. At $80 for two, with one glass of wine and one shared dessert, I wouldn't say it's expensive for an upscale meal, but it's not special enough for a once-a-year experience like an anniversary, if you can afford better. Frankly, we wouldn't have gone there this year, but Sans Souci is one of the few upscale restaurants open on Sundays. Pros: Free garage parking, service, desserts Cons: Not as special as other places more

Renaissance Cleveland is very elegant 9/17/2009

This is a very elegant hotel in with spacious rooms, luxurious amenities & historical architecture. My friend from work had her wedding ceremony and reception at this hotel. The hotel's reception coordinator for the wedding did an excellent job. more

Great for the price 6/2/2009

We took a weekend trip to Cleveland from Pittsburgh last summer and booked our room on priceline. For $65 dollars we got an excellent room here. I would suggest booking online thru priceline instead of paying the extremely expensive prices per room. The staff was very friendly and knew a lot about the areas. Coming from Pittsburgh, I was used to the malls staying open til atleast 9:00pm, I went to buy a pair of jeans at the mall attached to the hotel but it was closed by 8:00 which was extremely disappointing. Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable staff Cons: Mall closes really early. more

Great setting for a wedding 11/19/2006

We attended my friend's wedding here & it was fabulous. The rooms had an old charm to them, but all the modern updates that make it a lush setting. The food at the reception was out of this world, worth the price. Pros: the setting & downtown location Cons: price (though worth it) more

Value 12/27/2004

This is certainly Cleveland's most relaxing and elegant dining room. The food is clearly made from the finest ingredients, using the oldest and most delicate cooking methods traditionally used in places like Europe. everything is lovingly nurtured, the food and the guests. I've returned here many times since Sans Souci opened and have never been disappointed by even one simple element. A recent 3 course dinner for two, with coffee, dessert and a moderate bottle of wine was only about $80. I consider that a bargain. Pros: traditional, attentive detail, casual more

  • In Short
Maybe it's the hearthside seating, the farm-country murals, the big windows overlooking Public Square or the worn wood floors, but everything at this warm sanctuary, surrounded by the cool marble of the Renaissance Hotel, says "a night in Provence." Think pan-Mediterranean, starting with flamenco guitar music and continuing through Burgundy wine. Tapenades, tartar and terrine power the menu. Seasonal specials include halibut, duck breast, paella, abbit stew, wood-grilled mussels and garlic-saffron soup.
