Europe in Chattanooga 1/21/2004

After driving around Chattanooga for an hour amidst road construction and detours and trying (almost in vain) to find this cafe, I wasn't sure if the place would be worth it. Boy, were we glad we didn't give up looking! This quaint little cafe in Chattanooga's Bluff View Art District boasts a variety of delectable cakes (whole, slice and petites), patries (butter croissants to eclairs), soups (artichoke and tomato was so good), sandwiches (four cheese panini was very flavorful without the grease) and aromatic coffees. Rembrandt's also features breakfast fare which includes your traditional french toast to the healthy fruit, yoghart and granola. We dined here for both lunch and dinner for our day trip from Atlanta. Cafe lover paradise! Pros: great food, ambience Cons: limited seating more

An intellectual, nostalgic retreat 6/5/2002

Nestled into the evening patio outside, you'd expect Central Park West to be peering at you through the gate. Rembrandt's is Chattanooga's old world retreat at the end of a long day of art hopping, a personal intermezzo for friends and significant others after the Tivoli or the Roland Hayes. The interior of this Bluff View coffee house is cosmopolitan, urbane--unlike other smokier, more raucous coffee houses downtown. Accents of wood and wrought iron make you feel as if you've found your own private retreat from the world. Chocolates and pastries are made in house, changing daily---try a chocolate macaroon with your espresso drink. If you get the daily trivia question right, your house coffee is, well, on the house. Rembrandt's certainly rivals any ""big city"" coffee house we have ever been to. Pros: Date Spot, After Show/Concert, Atmosphere Cons: Parking more
