If I could give this company 0 stars I would. They were very shady right from the beginning. Advertising a duplex for 850.00 a month and after my brother and I had been living there for 2 weeks claimed they had made a mistake and upped the rent another 100.00 dollars. Classic bait and switch. 1 yr later when we had decided to move out we called the company and gave them a 30+ day notice. They said every things was good and requested we clean up the house even though they charge a non refundable 200.00 dollar deposit for cleaning. We complied and made sure the apt was in great shape before left. 2 months after living in our new place we were served with court papers because Reliance was SUEING us for another months rent stating we did not give them the type of notice they wanted, even though the lease explicitly says 30 day notice, but does not specify of what nature. These guys are creeps, don't do business with them. more

Best rental experience ever 12/2/2010

I rented an apartment from this company for three years and have nothing but wonderful things to say. The woman who worked with me to rent the apartment was organized, professional and flexible about my lack of credit. The apartment grounds were always meticulously maintained with thoughful and attractive landscaping. In the course of three years they trimmed our very large oak trees regularly, replaced the roof, updated our heating systems and improved the exterior lighting. These repairs were always completed swiftly and the resulting work was always excellent. Oddly enough my rent was never raised despite these improvements. Any time I had a repair to be done in my apartment they would follow up within less then 12 hours and the repairmen were always polite and efficient. The neighbors at my apartment were also all the nicest, quietest and most well mannered people I have ever met. There were no fights, no parties, no yapping dogs, not even an annoying trumpet player. In three years of living there I never had a single issue with anything. Ever. When I moved out they refunded my entire deposit promptly. I literally do not have a single negative thing to say about my rental experience, it was eerily perfect. I would seriously recommend them to anyone. more

BECAREFUL $$$$$$ 1/23/2009

I have a lease with them for a year and a half. After 3 months from moving in my wife became pregnant and therefore I will be needing 2 bed because the the one that I'm renting from them is 1bed. I talk to the owner of this property and explained to him the situation and he told me that he will look for a 2 bed apartments through his agancy, but before that he must find someone to rent my unit before he find me anything !! I called him 3 times after that he never got back to me then after a month he called me and he said the he couldn't find anything yet and no one yet is going to rent the unit therfore he can't do anything!! I told him so I have to break the lease and I gave them a 30 day notice. He said you can't break the lease and you have to pay for every month until we re-rent the apartment even if you leave !!!!!!! Although on the contract that I have signed there are nothing mentioned that I can't break the leass ( actually there is one of the rules on the contract indicate the right of a renter to break the lease anytime with a 30 days notice).. more

Reliance Property Management is the best. I found the apartment on Craigslist, called and made an appointment to view it the same day, faxed the application in that day, and was approved and notified within two days. Everyone was very nice and the process went very smoothly. The deposits and policies were/are reasonable. The staff is very helpful and easy to work with. The lease is month to month. The apartment is great. I couldn't be happier. more

I have LOVED renting from Reliance Property Management. I found the apartment online and immediately called the company to view. The woman I spoke to was friendly and helpful. She stated that no appointment was necessary and that I could go by alone and use the lock-box code to enter. I did and fell instantly in love with the place! Pros: Thumbs UP! They are courteous, quick, and easy to deal with. Cons: Properties that are older have problems....luckily Reliance acutally FIXES THEM! more

Worst rental company in Portland 6/18/2007

I have never dealt with a rental company as rude and incompetent as Reliance. I applied for an apartment on 52nd and Burnside through this company. After a few days consideration, I chose not to take it. I called multiple times to let them know, but my calls were not returned until today (almost a week later). The woman from Reliance's leasing office that called me was, of course, very sweet until I told her that I wouldn't be taking the apartment. Without a word, she hung up on me mid-sentence. more

Clear and straightforward 4/5/2007

I had a good experience with Reliance Property Management. They were friendly and attentitive to my concerns as well as honest with respect to the apartment I was interested in. Other tenants in the building told me they also had good experiences and that the maimtenance people acted promptly to resolve problems. more

Frustrating and Unhelpful 4/17/2006

Every conversation regarding veiwing was increasingly unhelpful, if you can even call the terse pair of sentences they would utter over the phone a conversation. To save you th frustration I experienced, here are all the little stupid policies they have about viewing. 1. Drive by first, they won't say a word to you before you drive by the home, they'll hang up. 2. They only schedule viewings 24 hours in advance. No earlier. Don't even think about calling tuesday for a thursday viewing. That's ridiculous, what the hell were you thinking. 3. Call right when they open. Their viewings fill up quick, and they are extremely unflexible and unhelpful about scheduling one if they run out of space (see #2). Again, they won't tell you this. If they are this unhelpful to prospective tenants, think about how sweet and nice they'll be to you when you're renting from them. more

Frustration and Dismay 4/10/2006

I left messages with no return calls to view rentals. When I reached a person, asking her to go over several options inner SE options with hardwoods I was told there were too many for her and that I would have to go to her website instead of speak to a person. I was already at the website and asked to have an agent meet me at one of the apt and we could go to the next couple in a row to save time. I was turned down flat. Each appt must be made individually regardless and they were unwilling to make appointments until I had driven by. I would be infuriated if it were my house/apt they were showing. To refuse to discuss/show rentals to someone who is looking for a large apt or small home and gives their range as 1000 - 1200 was startling at best. more
