This was one of my friends favorite spas so i've been a few times. I was always a little dissappointed with our visits, sometimes due to customer service, sometimes due to results of the treatments it varied but overall i didn't see why she loved it so much. i hadn't been to very many spa's for comparison though so i thought perhaps my expectations were too high. She purchased a gift card for me to relax now for christmas and I called last week to book an appointment come to find out they went out of business. BUT there is a silver lining, TRU SPA has offered to redeem their gift cards!! I went to Tru this weekend and was blown away (see Tru's review coming next!). So thank you Relax Now for going out of business and leading me to Tru, i've found my perfect spa! Pros: closed and now tr spa takes their gift cards! Cons: slow service, mediocre results more

OMG!! great facial..great deep tissue massage..cool atmosphere. 9/20/2007

I's self employed and am pretty much always stressed out. I had not been to a spa "recently". Used to go often though, forgot why I stopped, just too busy I guess . A client gave me a very genrous gift certificate for this place so I went. It was a cool experience. Very cool decor, fun and modern. I was expecting a sauna but they didn't have one. The "rainsoaker" shower was nice though. The front desk was good, not great but professional and the girl there was working pretty hard. The services I had were 5 star. Relaxed to some nice chilled piano tunes by moby (very cool) during my 80 min massage with Julia. I like deep tissue and she really knew what she was doing. I felt so amazing after the service. Went back a week later to use up the rest of the certificate got a facial and a brazilian with Asya that blew me away. She really knows her stuff. Every layer of product smelled nice and uplifting with a citrus kind of scent that put me in a nice mood. My skin was a little pink after the exfoliation and looks great. She sent me home with some free product line samples. I really liked their body butter and lemon cleanser. Gift certificate is almost gone so i'm going in tomorrow for some products and a chair massage with Julia again. Oh yeah..they have special deals going on and the microderm facial that was 1/2 off! Too cool. WArning, parking is tough but there is a garage at sac & clay, or way down at the kabuki theather parkaing garage and then take a nice stroll up fillmore street. Had not been in that hood in a long time (starting to look like Soho) a new Eileen fisher, Marc Jacobs and a cool new clothing store where Jim Elle used to be. Nice street but Jamba juice is gone..probably could not afford the rent ..looks like this hood is movin up. Pros: talented therapists, cool music nice ambiance Cons: tough parking more

Hmmm. 8/19/2007

Loud colors, front desk that barely pays attention.. That I can live with. What is not passable is mediocre massage and run of the mill facials that seem to be more about selling you into doing more things and buying more stuff. I came here because someone gave me a gift certificate for my baby shower. Thanks but next time save your money and give a diaper jeanie! more

great facials and waxing 8/8/2007

I had such a great facial here! I've been looking for a good spa to go to and this place was great. The front desk was really nice and they accomodated me for the times I needed. I saw Olga for my facial and she was fantastic. By the way, they use the hard purple wax there and although I'm not a fan of brazillians, Olga really made it as comfortable and painless as possible. I highly recommend this place! Pros: great staff Cons: parking was a little annoying more

Great day spa!! 6/20/2007

I recieved a gift certificate from a friend and treated myself to a facial and a massage. It was such a great facial and massage! I left feeling so relaxed and my skin never looked better! I have been using the products that were recommended to me and I absolutely love them. Everyone is so friendly and accomodating. I would definately refer any of my friends and am grateful that I had a chance to discover this place. more

Great Massage and good people 12/7/2006

I really enjoyed the facial and massage that I received from Relax Now. I have been going there for over a year. They have a great hot and cold stone massage, that with a deep tissue massage turned me into a noodle. I highly recommend it. more

Go for waxing, not massages 11/1/2006

I don't know about you, but bright pink walls, bright lights, and techno music does not say "relax" to me. But that is indeed what I got when I went for a massage here. Now, don't get me wrong, the massage itself was great, and the volume of the music was low, but in general it isnt the most relaxing atmosphere. On the other hand, they do some great waxing here and everyone is always friendly. Pros: Great staff and therapists Cons: Bright lights and colors are not relaxing more

Great find in Pac Heights 10/17/2006

I recently had a facial and 1 for a deep tissue massage. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating My services were top notch, too. Highly recommended. Pros: Great service and professional staff Cons: Parking more

unfortunately lacking 10/16/2006

I am fortunate that my employees give me gift certificates to spas.. Unfortunately one of them wasted their money with this spa. I had to wait thirty minutes before the facial even started. It was just OK. Not horrible but I definitely wouldn't go back. The massage was just so so. Just not worth the time and money- even if it is someone else's money. OH just the memory oif it I need to give it one star again! Pros: easy to get appointment Cons: not worth it! more

Luxury Facials, high quality products, amazing customer service! 10/4/2006

if you want a bright cheery atmosphere, awesome customer service and the most pampering of spa services-then relax now is for you! this place is located in pacific heights, right on fillmore. the staff is super friendly and welcoming. the deglo colors and inviting relaxation lounge are my favorite things about this spa. they offer all sorts of amazing services from spa pedi's to waxing and luxury facials! when you make your appointment make sure to ask about the Fire & Ice Stone Therapy massage, you'll be in a trance after this one! the Thai massge is also interesting- its a very interactive massage in which you wear your workout clothes and stretch out your tired muscles as well as deep tissure massaging. relax now also has a sweet selection of high quality retail products and cute handbags to chose from. After my experience I would absolutely recommend this spa! i left very happy and relaxed! Pros: luxury treatmentsfriendly/warm staffgreat retail selection! Stephanie does the best waxing! Julia is great with massges! Patricia offers the sweetest nail services! and the front desk staff is always professional Cons: parking! more

spa 10/4/2006

Made me wait for about 40 minutes for my treatment- the receptionist kept walking by but didnt have the courtesy to acknowledge the delay or let me know why there was one. Finally had to go out and ask her- apparently they had the previous appointment run over. Verty strange as most good spas know to not keep the next appt waiting if someone is late. Got a facial- the facial itself was pretty good. Place is cute but small- very girly. At the end of it got a asd sorry for the delay.. Pros: Nice ambiance Cons: kept me waiting 40 minutes, place is small more

Great Spa in Pacific Heights 9/24/2006

I have been to Relax Now several times for massages and have always been pleased. Relax gave me the first facial I'd ever had and I felt kind of funny being a guy, but they tell me that lots of guys get them. When i saw my skin afterward I gotta say it was worth it. I never realized how good my skin could look. Pros: Great experience and high quality staff Cons: Tough Parking more

Make a run to ANY other spa than Relax Now! 9/21/2006

Make a run to ANY other spa than Relax Now! I read the reviews on this site and with hesitation and against my own good judgment, I decided to book an appointment for spa week thinking I'd give them a shot. Circumstances arise and forced me to cancel my appointment and that's where the story begins... when I called and spoke to Leslie (the owner) within the 24 hour cancellation policy they have, I was told that they were going to charge me regardless because they suddenly had a 48 hr. cancellation policy. As I calmly was trying to explain to her that the 24 policy was posted on both their website and the spa week web site, she went into rage ranting on and on about the 48 hour policy and how she didn't have any customers lined up to fill the spot. I couldn't get a word in edge wise. She then ended with these final words... "I'm going to charge your card and I suggest you find another day spa to visit." and then hung up. So, take advice from the owner herself... "find another day spa to visit." It couldn't be better put. more

Amazing experience all around!! 9/20/2006

I was just there this afternoon for their spa week specials. When i was walking down fillmore last week they were so nice about informing me of the upcoming spa week specials. The front desk customer service made me want to come back for a treatment. I received the essential facial, AWESOME!, and the foot reflexology, AMAzING, which put me to sleep. I still feel very refreshed, and RELAXED! i already prebooked my next appointment. A nice change to the boring spas out there. Pros: customer service and staff informative and professional more

Worst customer service, from the owner no less! 8/28/2006

A few years ago, my staff bought me a $200 gift certificate to the Relax Now spa. For a variety of reasons, I did not use it until recently. My service provider was Alice and she did an incredible job (lemon/salt body scrub, massage). I had planned to recommend the spa, and especially Alice, to my colleagues and anyone who would listen. When I went to go pay, the computer showed I only had a $95 balance. I told the counter woman I had never used the certificate and the full $200 should still be in tact. She asked me if I knew a name I'd never heard of who was listed as the person who used the certificate and I told her no. She asked who purchased the gift certificate and I told her. The woman was able to find that person's name and address in the computer but said there was no history attached to it. I confirmed that person had never been to the spa except to buy the certificate. At this point, the woman called the owner, who requested to talk to the other woman behind the counter. After she spoke with the owner, she came back to me and said the owner was holding firm and I only get the $95 credit. I asked if I could speak with the owner myself. She called the owner and left a message indicating a client was waiting to talk to her. After no return phone call, she called the owner again to try and explain my situation. After 45 minutes of waiting and much back and forth (with the owner refusing to talk to me directly), she indicated the owner is still holding to the $95 but as a "compromise" will "split the difference" with me. I was flabbergasted at the way the owner continued to argue with her staff and have them continue to check all over the place all the while knowing I was standing right there and waiting the whole time. I might have expected such poor customer service from staff but never by the owner of a place of business. . Pros: Alice, massage table that turns into a chair Cons: Owner's attitude, small changing room, thin walls more

best facial and microderm ever! 8/7/2006

this place is so great. the front desk was awesome and sweet. My skin looks great after the Clean sweep microderm facial. It was price but compared to what I was paying at my med spa it was a steal. It was so relaxing and my esthetician sent me home with this retinol product called STRIP to keep my skin exfoliated and fresh. I'm so glad this place is on fillmore! They really know what they are doing! Pros: Ambience staff, treatments Cons: tough parking more

poor customer service 8/3/2006

I had a microdermabrasion treatment here. The worst! I was rushed in and rushed out by rude staff members. I was pressured to by the products and left feeling far from RELAXED. The ambience is not relaxing and the loud music was not condusive to getting any treatments. The front desk was cold and very fake! Cons: everything mentioned above more

creme de la creme..great facial and great skin care line! 6/28/2006

Love the great atmosphere, the music is even hip! I got agebuster hydrating facial and the most amazing brow shaping EVER! I noticed People magazine featured two of their Relax Now skin Care Products, QUENCH a dreamy moisturizer and SHADE Spf 30, so I bought them and my esthetician, Alla told me about STRIP.. a wrinkle. pimple and brown spot remover (who doesn't need that?) I have been using the products for about 3 weeks and am blown away as to how fast they worked. They gave me samples of a lavender cleanser that is awesome too. I'm going back to get another facial and learn more to keep my glow going. It's great to find a cool place like this that has their own product line. I'm hooked! I was almost ready to see a dermatologist but My skin now looks so great THANK YOU ALLA .. that I don't need to! I was a little bumed that the are in the process of hiring a new manicurist though becuase I have heard great things about their pedicures and was unable to book an appointment. Pros: RELAX NOW SKIN CARE LINE CLEARS UP ACNE AND WRINKLES! Cons: No manicurist at the moment more

CONSISTENTLY WONDERFUL! Professional pampering staff fair prices~ 6/27/2006

GREAT SPA! Always get professional and outstanding services here for over 5 years. Treatments are consistent and the facility is beautiful. I frequently get monthy massages and a facial every so often here but recently got a gift certificate for a spa pedicure and loved it! It was not in an a cheap vibrating chair but in a private room in a facial bed! I dozed off it was so relaxing (and no nasty bacteria filled foot baths) they wrap your feet in hot creamy towels with parrafin and do a super heal exfoliation. I'm shocked by the reading reviews that some nasty people write and find it interesting that they have no profile of saying any thing nice about any other places! Any way.. this place has always been a delight to visit. So happy people UNITE! and support those who pamper us! I own a clothing store and know hard it is to keep people happy and I must say. Relax Now has been doing a great job for many years for me, and all my buddies. They offer Great discounts too if you sign up to get on there VIP mailing list. One last comment to the spa: PLEASE keep the free Luna Bars.. I love gettin to much on them before a treatment and you were out on my last visit =) Pros: Discounts for members Cons: often run out of my favorite luna bar snack more

Biggest rip off around for a pedicure/manicure. 6/18/2006

This was the worse place I have ever been to for a pedicure. They tell me I am going in for an "Express Manicure/Pedicure", sure great. So they walk me back into this room that is basically for massages or facials, first of all it is dark and the light used for my pedicure is rarely on so how can they tell what they are doing..Secondly,they should soak your feet like most spas do.All she did was rub my feet a tad to get off any dead skin. The only diff. that I can think of why anyone would want to spend so much $$ at this horrible place is to simply lie down while you are getting your pedicure/manicure.The cost $89 plus tip, so I will never go back & I will be sure to tell my friend's not to ever step foot into this place!Oh and the staff in front were pretty rude when I tried to ask any questions about this, they just brushed it off, their famous answer well I don't know & your total is.. Pros: Thumbs down Cons: rude staff, not a spa like atmosphere in the slightest, completely over charge on pedicure/manicures more
