The building is attractive on the outside but walking up to the door, the velvet ropes were a turn off. Once inside, it was dark, good music, decent mix of people. We went upstairs to the patio and it was my favorite place in the club. Unfortunately, my camera was stolen off the table in our VIP area. The manager said they would check the security tapes, then blew off my emails and calls the following week. As a result, I will never return. He was both unprofessional and short. The good news is that he can always improve his professionalism. more

faux trendy 2/16/2010

Doesn't live up to its prime location on Washington Ave and cool lounge name.. Its not really a cool lounge to hang out or take a date. Acts more like a disco than a lounge with way too loud music and hyper bass getting in the way of any intimate conversation. Interior decor makes an effort to overcome the fact that this building is basically an aluminum barn with lipstick. Upstairs patio a plus in warmer weather. Pros: none Cons: cheap feel, music too loud more

Did NOT live up to the Hype 11/22/2009

I saw the grand opening video that was shot which looked very trendy, great looking crowd from what i could tell and i heard some good things about this place but after finally getting out there i was NOT impressed. There were at least three fights i had to narrowly escape and it was tough to get a drink, which lets face it, is pretty much the best reason to be in a bar. My time would have been better spent elsewhere. Pros: Nada Cons: crappy service more

It's ok 10/30/2009

The place is really nice, better than most other clubs. We first visited Reign about 2 weeks ago. The DJ seemed to play good dance music that night, but last night for some reason, the DJ played nothing but hip/hop rap music. That gets old very quickly. Why does everyplace have to play rap and hip/hop so much? What happened to the places that play good ol dance music? Hey DJ, mix it up!!!!! Pros: Nice decor Cons: Too much rap music more

Not worth it don't waste your time 10/25/2009

It's just not worth it, same scene, same music extremely rude staff, just not worth it more

Thought would be better 10/25/2009

The staff is not very friendly, the music repeats over and over, not a fun crowd but enough for a drink more

great place to network and met beautiful people 7/22/2009

The lighting, decor, and sophistication of the club definately separates this from all other Houston establishments! Pros: upscale, great drinks, wonderful atmosphere Cons: existing parking lot onto street more

Sat Nights 7/8/2009

So me and my girls were having a girls night out sat. bar hopping on Washington and we ran across Reign the club was so fun except for the fact they played a little too much techno music. Will definetly return. Pros: Beautiful Club, Awesome Atmosphere, Friendly STaff, Hot Guys Cons: Long Line more

2-cents 7/1/2009

Nice crowd initially but grew a little tiring. Sad that folks cannot leave something lying for one minute only to have it taken by unruly patrons. I thought I saw two of Houston's finest inside the place too. Of course they spent more time checking out the talent traveling up and down the staircase than keeping a real eye things. *guess I can't blame them too much - getting overtime is such hard work*. I think the establishment is interested in making it look like a happening place (ropes, clip boards, several dudes standing out front looking important). I plan to try other bars on Washington next time around. Good luck and keep a good eye on your personal items. Pros: Close to other establishments Cons: Minimal parking more

Okay, but NOT worth it. 7/1/2009

Went for a birthday party last weekend. The club is nicely decorated and the staff is friendly and efficient. The DJ played some good music. All of this was overshadowed by the fact that things were stolen from our table, the management didn't seem to care, the valet parking is $10, they have those cheesy "ropes" out front to force people to form a line, but don't think they are screening out the thieves! I would have had just as much fun with my friends at any of the other places on Washington. Pros: Nice upstairs deck. Cons: Crawling with thieves that steal your things. more

LOVED IT! 6/23/2009

We decided to check out this place last weekend while we were making our rounds on Washington, and from the time we walked in, we were instantly impressed! There were lots of familiar (and attractive) faces behind the bar, and the lighting and decor is awesome! It was new and different than many of the bars we frequent around Houston... We went to the bar and promptly got a round of drinks (and shots), and the prices were reasonable - you definitely get what you pay for. We made our way upstairs, and there was a beautifully lit wine bar (fully stocked with liquor too), and a nice sized patio overlooking Washington, with a bar outside as well. Good looking crowd, and good music, and the staff was friendly and efficient - we never waited long for our drinks. I'm definitely a fan, and I will be going back this weekend for sure! Pros: Attractive, friendly staff, stiff drinks, great atmosphere! Cons: Line outside if you get there too late. more

Reign over the night at Reign Lounge

Editorial
  • Drawing in a crowd as diverse as the city itself, Reign quickly found its place along the Washington corridor. Seemingly paradoxical, gaudy lighting, bouncers, velvet ropes and even a hostess stand before the most unpretentious party along the vast stretch of nightclubs. Sure, there are private tables, a second level devoted entirely to VIPs and some high-priced drinks, but everyone else just doesn't care. They're rubbing elbows, dancing, holding a conversation, drinking socially or drinking heavily. At Reign, the focus isn't so much on the club itself, and that's the draw.
