Good theater scarred by automation 8/7/2002

These large multi-plex theaters always play something you want to see. It's great having such large theaters available, but they're always plagued by the same problems that stem from automation. The main problem is that there is no one in the booth to make sure that the movie is running properly. Invariably something is wrong with the picture and you're forced to run down a long hallway to tell someone. I would say this happens 70% of the time I see a movie there. It drives me crazy! What you expect 5/19/2002

Hollywood 27 is a megaplex. No way around the fact, but it is still a fine theater. Exactly what you expect -- bright and big. No, you won't see that french subtitled flick here, but you'll get the latest blockbuster. Say you missed a showtime for Spider-man? The next one starts in 30 minutes. Stadium seating in most theaters. The entrance houses the main concession stand. I've rarely seen those in the back opened, which is fine since the line moves quickly. Pros: selection, times more
