Visited once this summer. Disappointed in the rudeness & condescension Chip showed us. When we initially arrived we did not know who was available to help us or if we were allowed to browse on our own. We saw a man sitting in a golf cart speaking with another man. When I approached and began to speak (""Excuse me"" was all I was able to say) he responded with not only utter annoyance but sheer disgust that he was busy with another customer. Great first impression. We nearly left - should have. \r \r We looked around, assuming this was acceptable since the man in the golf cart was too busy to provide us with any guidance. Beautiful trees, shrubs, etc. Impressive nursery. Sadly it does not make up for our experience. \r \r We decided on an ornamental tree - one I had wanted to purchase since I bought my home. I'm not a novice gardener and know what will grow and the concerns involved. Once Chip found time to track us down and he learned of the tree I intended to purchase he spent considerable time lecturing and condescending to me that this tree was going to be a problem for me & did I realize how difficult they are to grow. \r \r I was incredibly offended that he would not sell me the tree and continued to question my abilities and knowledge of the tree. It wasn't until I began to walk away from the tree and I verbalized to him that it seemed he did not care to sell me the tree that he actually proceeded to assist me and allowed me to complete the purchase. \r \r Needless to say the tree is at my home and is lovely. I wish I could say I will return to make more purchases from Red Mill as the nursery truly is lovely, but the thought of voluntarily dealing with Chip a second time is keeping me from returning. I would rather drive further or take my chances with online orders. Maybe it is because I am a young female. Your guess is as good as mine. But I should have been treated much differently than this if they desired a return customer. more

Red Mill is the single best source for landscape plants and service. I?ve had several installations and couldn?t be more pleased. The installers are courteous, knowledgeable & hard working. Their finished products are by far top notch. And shopping at Red Mill is such a fun experience. The setting is unique and the selections are amazing while the pricing is competitive. The best part of all are the super nice people who work there. more

Good quality product, but awful service 9/8/2008

good source of healthy plants 1/10/2006

I've purchased dozens of plants and trees from Red Mill in the past three years. I've tried other nurseries, but I find Red Mill's plants fare best for me. The business seems oriented toward professional landscapers, so they may not have a salesperson hovering nearby at all times. If you arrange to talk with Chip or the other staff, however, they will offer plenty of assistance to select plants appropriate to your needs. Pros: knowledgeable staff, fair prices more

I think Red Mill is great!! 11/16/2005

I have been there twice. My first visit, Chip spent a LOT of time talking to me and showing me things (so much that I left overwhelmed and had to plan some more!) I actually asked for a gift certificate there for my birthday, and when I went back a woman helped me, she was very direct and told me exactly what some of my options were and I left happily with a truck full of beautiful plants that are now thriving in my yard. The prices seem reasonable, the plants are really nice, I really like it out there! more

a poor experience 9/24/2005

i was looking for landscaping items for my property and decided to go to redmill because it's in close proximity to my home. i was there for about 15 minutes before anyone asked if i needed assistance. the man that finally did help me was extremely rude and condescending. i hope that they do not treat all of their customers like this. there are too many other nurseries to even be bothered with redmill. will not recommend this place to friends, family, co-workers, etc more
