We came on a saturday and it was very busy. I figured that with all the people waiting it must be good! Our server terry was prompt, friendly&good at her job. Her suggestions really paid off. I had a crab&spinach casserole that was dynamite. my new fav thing ever! We will be back. more

We ate here twice last week,The service was very friendly and fast. The portions were generous. My favorite was the flounder with artichoke hearts and musrooms in a brown sauce. The baked shrimp with feta and fresh tomatoes was very good as well. more

The seafood was incredible. The restaurant was ALWAYS crowded. Lots of food for the price. You pay for what you get and it was good. more

Everything a family seafood restaurant should be in an unpretentious, relaxed beach town. We went on a Thursday night and the place was packed. Lots of kids and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. The salad that comes with the meal is a heap of sad iceberg lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes - we didn't touch ours. We had the Red Snapper a la Greque since the owners appeared to be Greek. The snapper was dredged in flour and sautéed, so it had a nice crust. The Greque part consisted of onions, lemon and Greek seasoning. Interesting flavor, but didn't blow us away. We also tried the flounder and a ""grilled"" red snapper that came sautéed. Both were fresh and tasty. \r While the place has not been updated since the 80s, we liked being in a mom and pop restaurant far away from the slick seafood chains in the city. The prices seemed reasonable, most entrees were under $20. We will be back. more

A few days before eating here we went to Gaidos in Galveston. The service had slipped and the oysters were tiny. Then we returned to another seafood favorite of ours, Red Snapper Inn. The oysters were huge and tasty and the service rocked! The other dishes and desserts also were fantastic. more

Fond memories of Red Snapper Inn in Surfside. It's the closest thing to fine dining you'll find on the island, or in nearby Freeport for that matter. Decent fresh sea food, at reasonable prices. I've never had bad service there, and the selection is pretty good. more

Our crab fingers came out quickly. The 10-12 big crab fingers were fried in bread crumbs and tasted good. We ordered our entrees and we both decided to keep it simple. I ordered the dozen fried oysters which came with their potatoes, veggies, and a salad. My wife order their fried stuff shrimp, potatoes, veggies, and a salad. Our waitress brought out our salads (on a chill plate) and they were bigger than most restaurants. Our entrees came out after we finished our salads, so they did a good job with the timing.\r \r My dozen oysters turned out to be about 17 fairly good size oysters. They were fried in cornmeal. The oysters tasted good. The potatoes were homemade potato chips, but they weren't fried as crisp as a regular potato chip. We both enjoyed them. The veggies came in a small bow which was good because the water from the veggies didn't run into our plate. more

We had not had their creme brulee before, always opting for their homemade cheesecake. The brulee was PERFECT! The seafood special and the snapper Pontchartrain were delish too! more

The walls are decorated with stuff fish and other items one would expect in a seafood restaurant. I would say the atmosphere is like any typical seafood restaurant, so what more could one ask for? Our waitress came quickly and took our drink order. Our waitress was quick and did a good job. more

My wife and I ate at the Red Snapper Inn today for a Thursday lunch. I wouldn't consider the restaurant a hole in the wall, but it's very casual. We were seated when they opened at 11am. There was a throng of people coming in after us. Most of the dinners were workers from the industry area, so they would know a good place to eat. more

Came across this restaurant on my first visit to the Gulf coast and I really enjoyed the experience. I admit I get tired on occasion of restaurants offering salmon or swordfish or some other fish caught in XYZ region that supposedly justifies their crazy markup/menu prices. Red Snapper Inn had local Gulf coast seafood offered at a very reasonable price. Tried the snapper ofcourse and thought to myself... 'Wow this is what the Gulf Coast has to offer... pretty awesome.' more

If you're in surfside for vacation, I imagine it's probably the best place you will find in Surfside. It's a tad on the expensive side, but the food is good. If you're in Surfside for vacation, go check it out and if you have a problem with the price, just eat more bread and butter to make your purchase more justified in your head :) more

Overall, we both liked the Red Snapper Inn. I gave them five stars comparing them the other restaurants in the area. Most dishes are between $15-20 and portions are large for that price. When we make another trip to Surfside, we'll eat again at Red Snapper Inn. more
