Mean spirited and condescending is how 12/18/2011

Mean spirited and condescending is how I'd describe the lack of service. I called to get directions and told him what needed to be done, which went fine. I arrived and handed the guy my 2 watches, one with a bezel that needed to be re-glued. He took a look and said, without looking up & in a curt tone, 'we don't work on imitations' and handed it back. I asked why and was told they can't find replacement parts. For the record, i have no problem with a shop not working on imitation products. But I do have a problem with a) not hearing that until I've wasted gas and time driving there & b) not hearing an apology for my wasted time, getting a look in the eye or my presence acknowledged. I'd never recommend or return to this place. more

Great Retail Facility 11/16/2009

I have used Ray's Watch Shop for all of my watch maintenance as well as watch band replacement. I have always received an honest price and competent service. I'am happy that a store with these capabilities exists. Pros: prompt and honest service more

Fast, friendly service 8/11/2009

I went in to get a new battery for an altimeter/multi-function watch. Many places wont even touch these types of watches. I was quoted what the price would be before hand, he put the battery in and had the time, date, etc changed all w/in 5 - 10 minutes. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Not everyone is super perky like the girl in the Progressive Insurance commercials - Ray is a nice guy who knows his stuff and probably just doesn't want to rip people off (ie. if the battery is worth more than the watch). Pros: Fast, precise, reasonably priced more

Great Service 5/1/2009

Today I went in to Ray's to have him look at a watch that another 'repair' person broke. He was able to diagnose the issue and fix the watch while I was eating lunch next door. He was very polite and knows his business. I won't be going anywhere else for watch repair again. Pros: Fast quality service with no nonsense. more

Good service from an Expert 3/4/2009

\r I don't understand the up-and-down ratings for this shop. I've been there twice and the service has been\r polite, prompt, and accurate. He really knows what he is doing.\r \r So, for the west-side, Beaverton area I recommend Ray's. more

One very angry man 8/2/2008

It all started well enough with a semi friendly hello. We brought in 2 watches that we had carefully picked out from our favorite British watch store in Toronto. Both needed batteries and one needed a simple pin repair. We were quoted $28 for the one watch and then were asked if it was worth it to us. We said we were fine since we love the watch and it was worth $250. This is where it gets really ugly. He kept asking us how this watch could be worth that much. He went on to tell us it was a $30 watch and wasn't worth the $28 repair. ""I've been repairing watches for 22 years and this is a cheap watch that was made in China"" So, basically, he was telling us that the watch wasn't worth the price of a battery and that he didn't need our business. So, we took our great watches and took our business elsewhere. It was just so strange that he was so abrasive and confrontational. Do yourself a favor and take your business to someone who appreciates it unless you enjoy angry abusive people. Pros: No waiting in line Cons: angry beligerant owner more

To sum it up, good work, fair price, and direct customer service 5/14/2008

For 15 years I have gone to Ray's shop to have my watch repaired or have a new battery put in.\r He has a direct, and friendly attitude. He says what he thinks. I respect that! \r Today, I went to his shop, he said it would take 5-10 min to replace my watch battery. I waited while he did the work. The repair took 5 minutes. He charged me $10 dollars. \r \r Im a long time cyclist, he expressed interest about Bicycle commuting to work, so \r we chatted for another 5 minutes.\r \r To sum it up, good work, fair price, and direct customer service Pros: To sum it up, expect good work, fair price, and a friendly attitude. more

Worst customer service. Don't go there 1/24/2007

I went in for the first time to his store to get new batteries for my watches and I had asked him if I needed ""tickets"" for it since it would be a while and since I did not know how his policy worked being it was my first time to his store. He sarcastically said ""I've been in this business for 37 years, I'm not going anywhere with your watch"" All I asked from him was a simple answer, not an attitude. He later explained it was too ""expensive"" to make out a ticket, which I thought was nice of him, but too late. My first impression of him was that he did not know anything about customer service. If the man was the owner, what right do you have to give attitude to your customers? more
