My response to you is the following …..\r \r I do not believe that you are not being completely honest and forth coming with all of the facts this is based on the following facts and circumstances.\r \r 1) Yes I do need everything at my office if your information is not here I cannot do the work. The client may get their information to my office any number of ways: personally, which I prefer so I can talk to the client, email, fax, UPS, FedEx what ever means is the most beneficial to the client. I have found that electronic and faxing may not be the most beneficial to the client. When clients fax or email information or a notice from a taxing agency, they almost always do not send all of the necessary information the first time. A government notice is printed on both sides and only one side gets faxed or scanned also most government notices do not fax very clearly. I have found that it is in the best interest of the client to have the original document when ever possible. I have clients send their information to the office from as far east as New Hampshire, north Alaska, south Texas and west Hawaii.\r 2) In my office when the income tax return is complete the client is notified and personally informed that they will receive a bright yellow post card notifying them that their tax return is ready to be picked-up signed and sent. If the client does not pick up their return by the due date my office calls the client until contact is made, to remind them that their return is ready and needs to be picked-up. If the client notifies me that they are unable to pick it up I will personally deliver it, mail it or FedEx it to them depending on how much time remains before the filing deadline. If the client needs to come by after normal business hours I will wait for them or if need be meet them on the weekend. If the client does not pickup their income tax return by the due date, as a courtesy, I file an extension on their behalf. It is against the law for me or any professional to file a client’s income tax return without their signature for efile, or their signature on a paper return.\r 3) After you recieved a notice from a taxing agency, you state that I wanted to charge you to help you with this notice. If that is so then it is information you did not give me at the time of filing and yes I will charge you when extra work is involved.\r 4) Unpleasant, I do my very best to treat every client with the same respect and kindness, the kid with his first job to the $10,000,000 business man I am so very thankful for the clients I do have, although I will never be able to express how much I appreciate and respect the individuals, business, estates, trusts and charitable organizations that have chosen me as their income tax professional, I will never stop trying.\r more

Unprofessional, outdated, poor work. 11/10/2010

We used Ray for our joint return for the past 3 years. I don't know what we were thinking going back to him more than once. We encountered several problems working with him. 1. Inconvenient and outdated: Everything has to be dropped off at their office in Atascadero in person. Living in SLO, this was extremely inconvenient on multiple occasions. Ray and his secretary always acted like inconveniencing you was not a big deal at all. They also don't really use email and discouraged faxes. 2. Several problems with his work: The second year using Ray, he submitted our return late. Apparently they called us once to get a signature, and then never contacted us again. Okay, yes, they contacted us - but as a tax professional getting paid, you should make it a priority (within reason) to make sure to get your clients returns in on time. They couldn't bring themselves to make one more call? The second issue was worse. The first year he did our taxes, he didn't report a portion of our income, which we were not aware needed to be reported. Being young and too trusting, we thought Ray knew best. Two years later, we get hit with a whopper of a tax bill. We ask Ray about this mistake, he looks into it, then tries to charge us for fixing his mistake. 3. Unpleasant: This guy doesn't treat you like a valued client. He could care less. Considering how many other options you have for a tax professional, don't chance it with Ray. more
