I have enjoyed this place for over 25 years. 7/1/2011

I have been enjoying this wonderful place for 25 years. Never a bad experience ever. They get it. The seafood is excellent and always the best. Things have changed over the years, but they still are one of my favorites. Yes, this place is not inexpensive, but to get quality seafood in Northern Nevada, it is worth it 100 percent. The service is always personable and attentive. The atmosphere is always casual by elegant. Just Perfect/ more

Sad to see a classic institution drift off the culinary map! 3/20/2010

Rapscallion has always been a favorite for locals ... and a welcome get-away for tourists who want to escape the often boring hotel/casino restaurants. Both wait staff and kitchen staff are very responsive to special requests, and take great pride in making the dining experience "tailor-made." (NOTE: for a quiet, "private" dinner for 2 - 4, reserve in advance and request a "cabin.") Pros: The kitchen and wait staff: excellent and VERY committed Cons: Decline in quality and selection more

Extremely disappointing meal 11/15/2009

We choose this restaurant to celebrate our 29th Anniversary based on many recommendations from friends and published reviews of the restaurant. Pros: Supposedly one of Reno's best restaurants Cons: The food was overcooked more

Great food 5/15/2009

Whenever I'm in Reno, we always go to Rapscallion. The food is wonderful & the service very accommodating. I'd definitely recommend it, but make sure to make reservations. more

Dont bother making a reservation unless you are a regular 2/15/2009

Once again it is January in Reno time to make reservations for Valentin's day. reservations were made for one the the secluded cabins in the back of rapscallions. All went well we arrived an hour prior to dinner checked in and assured that our table was ready when we were. So we proceeded to the bar for conversation with friends prior to dinner. five fifty came and it was time for dinner just before we headed back to the mater"d a regular walked past us and was greeted be all of the staff. So we were greeted by the mater"d and started walking toward our table to find that the regular was just seated in our cabin. after being asked to sit in the foyer for about 20 min. we were told the only table available was next to the south entry door we reluctantly took the table but after sitting their for about 5 min and getting blasted by the cold night air every time someone entered or exited we left. We were not offed any compensation for our being displaced I personally will never enter this establishment again. And this comes from a 20 year Reno resident that loved coming to this establishment both sitting at the bar as well as dinning. Cons: dont bother making resevations more

Reno's Fish House 4/3/2008

This is where you go for fish in Reno. They usually have a nice selection and are always busy. We went for brunch once but I wouldn't go back for brunch again as I felt they used fish scraps in some of their dishes. I hit a bone and I hate hitting bones. Pricing is moderate to high depending on what you get. Parking is sometimes a bit difficult. more

Best seafood/steak house in Reno! 2/24/2008

My hubby and I just ate at "The Rap" and it was great. We're locals but just tried it for the first time. We ended up eating in the bar/cocktail area, and the service and food were just as great in there as any 5 star restaurant, and it was fun! I had the crab stuffed monkfish and my husband tried the filet with asparagus and garlic mashed. Everything was superb. We also had the escargot (appetizer) and carmel custard (dessert) and they both were to die for! All in all, the ambiance, food, service, wine, and everything else were fantastic. Go check it out for yourself, you'll love it! Pros: Ambiance, great date place but also professional enough for business dinners, food/service are both fabulous more

Best Lemon Drop Martini in town... 6/5/2007

A must try atmosphere, I loved my Mahimahi rice pilaf, dinner, with artichoke dip. I had a lemon drop martini, and my girlfriend and I chilled out on the patio, soaking up the beautiful sun rays. Ecellent atmosphere, wonderful food. Highly recommended for locals and tourists. more
