This hotel was extremely charming! The shops around it were filled with items that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Great water park if you have kids! more

After reading some of the negative reviews I was afraid it would be dreary and broken down but it was fine and our family had an excellent time. Check in staff was friendly and efficient. Room was as advertised. The water park area is small, and I can see how if it was mobbed with people it would not be fun, but the evening of our stay (a Tuesday night in June) there were few people and our kids (16, 12, 10) loved it and spent hours there. The hot tub area was closed for repair, but there was still plenty to keep them all occupied. They absolutely loved the 2 waterslides, esp. the red one which is pitch black and really fast all the way down. All the kids also loved the whirling whirlpool, and pretty much made use of the whole waterpark area. The Clarion room (actually a ""family suite"" with a queen bed, bunk beds and a pull out couch) was great and we had no complaints; it was perfect for the kids having their own space including bunkbeds, a pullout couch, and their own bathroom and tv, with the adults in a connecting private room and bath. The room included a fridge, microwave, ironing board, flatscreen tvs, blow dryers, 2 bathrooms, and everything was clean and tidy. The kids also tried out the mini-golf and enjoyed it. Yes, the facility is showing its age a bit but it was still comfortable and fun. We did not eat at the snackbar or the local restaurant, instead we went to the Amana towns for real-food fare. Someone in an earlier review mentioned the crappy towels, but the crappy towels are in the waterpark area, and they are fine for that.... people probably walk off with them right and left and they're probably laundered a million times a year, so of course they're going to be economy models. (The towels in our room were fine and normal). Overall thumbs-up family getaway. more

This is a wonderful Holiday Inn, with a restaurant serving family style. If you walk away hungry, it was your fault! The decore is old Amana, NOT AMISH, as another review states. The Amana Colonies contain no Amish settlers. The motel is easy to find right off exit 225 I-80 and close to more than just the Amana Colonies. The kids will love the waterpark and the adults will love the historical tours in the area. more

I have never been at a hotel where the check-in person asked about discounts we might qualify for. Most of the time, if you don't ask, you don't get it. Our host immediately knocked our rate down for us, and was so friendly and pleasant to us! The wasserbahn is very nice, especially if you have little kids, and well staffed with lifeguards. The water was nice and warm. Our room was spotless, soft beds, very inviting and comfortable after a long dreary day of rain! Would give it 5 stars, but the hot tub was not working, and there is a lot of noise in the hallways from kids coming to and from the waterpark. All in all, a nice stay! more

Enjoyed our visit to the quaint little town of Amana. Lots of shopping, food, and spirits. Everyone is so friendly here. The Waterpark was nice. Cold, and the hot tub wasn't working but overall the stay was great. The kiddos had a blast and so did us adults. more

Stayed two nights with two kids(7 and 3 years old). Waterpark was good for the kids, not very big but, the 7 year old loved the water slides. There is a hot tub and a sauna for adults but, the pool was too small to swim in. Beds are comfortable and slept very well. The room was in a seperate building from the main hotel which wasn't bad but an inconvenience that you had to step outside for a second to walk through a breezeway to get to the pool. Staff was friendly, restaurant was understaffed for breakfast. All in all because of what it offered with the waterpark for the kids and the comfortability of the beds I would stay again! more

This is the only choice hotel I've ever stayed in the did not have a free breakfast. I thought the facilities were nice, the rooms were newly remodeled as we were staying they were remodeling more parts of the hotel. The water park was also nice. I don't think some of the reviews on here accurate concerning the water park. If you're going to stay here I would definitely check out the Tanger Outlets. more

We stayed with our daughter and grandson in January 2013 and had a wonderful time. I had read some of the less favorable reviews and was worried that this was not a good place to stay. We scouted it out before booking the room and found the poor rating reviews were just not in agreement with what we saw. The layout was great with easy access to the waterpark but yet not touching so as to create noise issues. The waterpark was a nice mid winter treat that our 4 year old grandson took full advantage of. I would recommend it for a winter get away. more

My experience at the hotel was great. The hotel was busy at the 4pm check in, however the desk staff were speedy at checking us in and very polite. They made the check in process effective and friendly. Once I got to my room I looked things over and the room was perfect, everything was spotless and the beds were extremely soft. When I went to take a shower the water ran red for about 1 minute, but the hotel has well water which just means the it needs to run for a bit and then it's crystal clear. The water park was very much fun. It was just the right temperature, not to hot and not to cold. The hot tub was perfect, and the slides and vortex pool were very much fun. Over all the stay was a great experience, I cannot wait to come back. I could smell chlorine when I walked into the hotel, it smells very clean and pool like. more

The adults only hot tub was wonderful and in close enough proximity you could sit in it and watch the kids. The beds were great - I haven't slept that well in ages. The staff was very accomodating and took care of any needs we had. more

Thx God to find an excellent resort to spend my vacation. I have a good time there. Stuffs are friendly and helpful. Children were having fun and parents n adults were enjoyed in the water park.\r I dined in the restaurant n waitresses were friendly. They came back time n time to ask things were okay with our foods. I enjoyed the restaurant foods. I gave two tumbs up.\r I did a little of shopping in the compound. When visited the winery shop. The clerk introduced me a lot of fine wines and I was impressed of their well trained knowledge in their field.\r All in all, I give an excellent rating n this was by far my best travelling experience in years.\r \r Well, what else could I expect, this is not Hollywood LAX or DisneyWorld.... I will definitely come back again and again. more

A GREAT TIME FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY! 3/6/2006

The wife and I took our 3 kids here this weekend. WE HAD A BLAST! We have also been to the indoor water park in dubuque at the Grand Harbour hotel but this is a MUCH better deal...the slides are great...im getting too old for em though! All I have to say is we will be ther again, the rooms are $149 with 2 double beds but is is well worth it for a night of fun for the family...and the kida eat FREE at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. What a deal! PROS: Very nice and friendly staff! CONS: The bar closes way too early! more

great new waterpark 8/28/2005

Recently we took our family to the Wasserbahn waterpark at the amana holiday in. We booked the rates on the holiday inn website which included our room rate and tickets to the waterpark. The web only rates were great. It is also now advertised that they do offer day passes at a cheap price for those not wanting to spend the night. It was great for our 3 & 4 year olds. They loved the small slide and spray area while our teenagers preferred the 2 large waterslides. more
