Back in college (early 90's) this was a better place to eat and drink at. Bigger portions and better quality for the $$$. Now it's urban ok. Kinda matches everything else going...

Great food and beer! 2/28/2010

My experience at the Ram was pretty good. Me and a buddy of mine had dinner there and it had a really good atmosphere. We went during a UW home game, so we thought that we would have to wait a good 30 to 40 minutes to be seated, but even though the place was packed we got seated within 15 minutes. TV's everywhere made viewing of the game really easy. I forget my waitress' name, but she was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu items. I ordered the king crab artichoke dip for an appetizer, it was delicious! It probably isn't best for a healthy diet, but if you're looking to indulge on some good dip, that's one to get. I didn't see many super healthy options, other than the typical salads. But coming to a restaurant/ brewery, I assume most people wouldn't be looking for a very diet friendly meal, although the option would be nice. For dinner, I ordered the crab and shrimp cake sliders which were great! It was a good amount of food, and coupled with a side of soup, it was pretty filling. My buddy ordered the total disorder porter burger, which was a monstrous burger. I got to have a bite of it and it was really good. I got a milkshake, which was kind of mediocre. My friend got a beer that was pretty good, it tasted very fresh and nice of tap. Overall, the atmosphere was great. It could use a wider variety in the food menu, but still good food and beer. The service was decent, not the best I've had but still made my dinner experience a positive one. Pros: Delicious burgers and beer. Cons: Lack of health friendly menu items. more

Nice atmosphere, horrible customer service 5/5/2008

I went there for lunch on a Friday and the greeter was very unprofessional; look, attitude and conversation wise, called corporate and the general manager to that store called me back on a Monday and seemed very rude. They were asking about my complaint and 100% was for the employee instead of wanting to take the time to listen to my experience. I felt more attacked then listened to. Food was ok but over priced. I would not recommend it to anyone and I will not ever eat there again. Pros: lots of TVs... good for games Cons: customer service was aweful more

Average Food but Terrible Customer Service 2/20/2008

The resturaurant looked nice but my experience quickly went downhill when it took 10 mins for a waiter to even notice that we had been sitting there. I had to get our own menus. My food didn't come as I ordered it. While we were sitting there I kept seeing other customers going up to the waiters and asking for things like refills and the check. The food was mediocre and I would never reccommend it to anyone. Pros: nice looking inside, parking Cons: lazy service more

Over priced for below average tasting food 12/22/2007

I really do not see what the hoopla is all about regarding this chain of restaurants. The food is below mediocre for the price they charge. Their lunch menu on the weekends has prices starting at $8.99 and that's for an appetizer!! My daughter ordered a teriyaki chicken sandwich, which was overdone (hard and tough) and my clam chowder tasted straight from a can. If you are desperate or just have money to burn and want to patronize a noisy place with unexciting tasting food, try this chain. Personally, I refuse to be a lemming. Pros: None Cons: Food, Prices more

Good Beer! OK food and large crowds 10/28/2007

Sign up on their web site for the MVP Club, and get a coupon for a free hamburger plus the usual birthday dessert deal. The Blonde is very tasty, but the Buttface Amber Ale is the winner. There is good beer on tap at The Ram. This place can get packed in both the family style dining area and the large bar section; so beat the crowds and get on the waiting list early. The hamburgers are the way to go. They aren?t fantastic, but they are pretty darn good after a few beers. It?s simply medium quality American style food in a casual setting with good beer. If you enjoy beer then you definitely want to give The Ram a try. Pros: Good Beer, Free U-Village Parking Cons: Long wait list more

Good beer, overpriced food 8/31/2007

Living close to U-Village, I have been to The Ram quite a few times. It has good beer and pretty good food, but the food is definitely overpriced. Another con is that it is pretty much always crowded. Their Thai Chicken salad is pretty good, but is also like $12 or $13. more

Put you name in - then take care of your shopping 2/28/2007

This is definitely a fun place to go when you feel like celebrating. The Ram is infamous for their Mile High Mud Pie and if someone in your party manages to eat the whole thing themselves it?s free! The atmosphere is especially exciting on Husky game nights and packed with UW students and alumni. The Ram doesn't take reservations though, so make sure and come early to put your name in. Pros: Can accommodate large parties Cons: Long waits on weekends and game nights more

Decent Beer, Terrible Food 2/5/2007

Their food is WAY too expensive for the amount you recieve. We ordered the appetizer sampler (it sounded big on the menu) and it wasnt. The beer was pretty good, the mixed drinks I had were OK. Overall, there is much better in the UDistrict for brewery/restaurants. Have eaten here a few times, wasnt impressed either time. Pros: $1 beer specials Cons: Food, Prices more

Horrible 12/10/2006

I went to The Ram a few weeks ago to celebrate my twin friends' birthday. They called 30 minutes ahead of time to tell them we were coming, but our reservation got "lost". The hostesses told us we would get seated quickly since it was a "very slow night". We waited for an hour to get seated while we saw two parties the same size as ours (about 10 people) get seated before us. Finally after an hour they split us up at sat as at two tables, and several waitresses walked by and we asked for help and they told us they were told not to serve us. My friend who was working there at the time even said something to the manager and nothing was done. Finally, a large table of people who had been seated before us (and was finished eating by the time we got there over 90 minutes ago) got up after the hostesses asked and we were seated. The hostesses were not helpful, our waitress was horrible, our food was cold, our beer was flat. It was absolutely one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I sent in a review to their website and the manager called me the next day to apologize and said he was emailing me a coupon for three free meals for me and my twin friends because he felt so bad. So I checked my mail, and sure enough he sent me a coupon. But it was one coupon for half off some burger (which I don't even eat) if you buy an entree at full price. It's too bad there aren't any other good bars in UVillage for students to go to because then it would force the Ram to have better service and food. I'm going to do my best to never go back there! Pros: Located in UVillage Cons: Cold food, horrible service, very slow more

Good happy hour, pretty good beer 11/1/2006

This place was packed on Friday night and the happy hour specials were pretty good. Halg off appetizers. The beer was pretty good and there were TV's all over so it's a bit of a sports bar. Pros: Happy Hour Cons: Packed, Average more

Great Overall 3/9/2006

My husband and I had dinner here on a Monday night. There was lots of kids in the main dining (kids eat free on Mondays), so we ate in the bar. We had great service, our meals were hot and delicious and we were able to watch some basketball. Our server, Adam, was very attentive and able to anticipate our needs. This is a great place for families as well as somewhere watch sports on lots of TVs. more

The Ram ain't that bad! Just be smart about it. 2/11/2006

There are several Bighorn Ram Breweries along the Puget Sound, i've been to all of them. The service is different at all of them, but if you go during a meal-rush time of day, YES, it will be crowded! It's a popular Brewery! It appeals mostly to college-aged people, or adults. The beer is...okay and cheap if you go during happy hour. If you go to the UW Ram, and you should, go during a NON-peak meal time. If you can, go eat in the bar, you'll get served faster most of the time. Also, for that extra cheap deal, join the "Mug Club" when they sell memberships for $20 (I think that's the price, I need to renew mine soon!); it'll get you half price drinks for a year (no matter what time of day) and half price apps. BTW-the Tacoma Ram has a GREAT patio! Pros: Okay Beer, Can be cheap, Many Locations Cons: Pretty Trendy, Crowded, BREWERY-Not a kid's restaurant more

cute waiters, but otherwise not worth it 1/13/2006

Beer is great. Location is great. Food is average, but it could be a lot healthier. Service is horrible. They make you wait when there are open tables. They always seem to be short staffed in the back bar. Place is way too loud- you can't here the game, never mind have a conversation. Shame that there's not another place to have a decent beer at UV. more

My Ram Experience 8/13/2005

My husband and I went for dinner. The hostess told us it would be a 30 min wait, so we thought we would get a cocktail as we waited. First off I had never been there before so I had no clue where to stand and wait for a drink because it was a complete mad house. When all of a sudden the security comes up, rudely tells us we are standing in the service area and tells us to move, ok I can understand we are standing in the way, but don't be rude about it. I got so mad we just left. 2 months later I was shopping and went in to have a Happy Hour drink. The Bartender working was very polite, and being that I have been a Bartender for 7 years he really impressed me, great guy. I would definatley go back if he's working. more

  • In Short
The Ram serves microbrews and a wide variety of American fare to university students and older sports fans seeking the kind of charisma only a youth-frequented place can provide. Burgers, fries and cable sports, but come game time, the bar can get just as raucous as the real thing. Ramburgers include Bourbon Black Jack, seasoned with pepper-jack cheese and Jack Daniel's Dijon mustard. The Sumo Burger comes topped with pineapple and teriyaki sauce.
