Editorial review from Citysearch 10/10/2012

Visited Rainforest Cafe October 2012. Was not a good experience. Found the staff rude and the food and service very out of line for the prices. My Husband's food was not done and we couldn't get our waiter to our table. The decor was fun which is the only positive thing I can say. Sorry Rainforest! I can't give you a good review. I don't recommend it, however, we did enjoy the shop. more

Downtown Disney - expensive with poor service 2/27/2011

My family were on vaction and we visited the Disney Marketplace's Rainforest Cafe. This is not our first time at the RFC so we knew generally what to expect. The wait was not too long (20-30 minutes) considering it was a Sunday lunch hour. The food was more expensive than I had previously remembered. I ordered a half rack of ribs that came with some french fries and a bit of cole slaw and it cost $22. The ribs were average in taste (nothing special). My son ordered 2 of the chicken tenders with french fries appitiezers ($9 each) because he loves chicken tenders but I was told that it only consists of about 3 chicken tenders. I was pleasantly surprised that it comes with more when it arrived but now we have more food than we really want. My daughter did not like her chowder as it was too salty. My wife was fine with her meal of steak and shrimp ($27). The food took about 30 minutes to get served from the initial order. The refills on drinks were very slow to come even at the very end. The server did not come by once to check on us after the meal was served. I go out to eat often with the family and while the quality and taste of food are important, I generally expect a level of service to match the price of food. I was very disappointed in the meal and more so with the service. Overall, I like the RFC concept for families. I like the the decor for the kids and the tropical fish tanks with a retail store next door so we can browse merchandise while waiting. We filled out a comment card with several of these comments and the general managers did not seem very concern. He offered only priority seating for the next time we come. I don't think we'll be back to this particular restaurant. Our tip definately reflected on the level of service that we received, as it should. more

Expensive, Horrible Food, Poor Service 6/10/2010

Our wait was over an hour. The store was good. I would suggest just going to the store. We found a great deal on a kids t-shirt. The restaurant service was poor. My $17 salad was so bad I didn't even finish it. My husband ordered chicken breast and there was only about 1 oz of meat...for about $19. Everyone near us (and I mean near us...the tables are so close you can't pass through to the restroom) ordered the chocolate volcano looking cake. It took the whole wait staff to present it each time which slowed down all other service. The decor was tacky and dusty looking and even my 5 year old didn't enjoy it. I will never go back again. Pros: Good Store Cons: Food quality, wait more

Stroller policy at Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney 3/31/2010

After we waited nearly two hours to get into the Rainforest Cafe, the hostess rudely stated that ""No strollers were allowed"" When we asked what we were to do with it, she quickly and angerly pointed outside. Against our better judgement we placed our stroller out by numerous other strollers. We made sure that we grab all of our belongings and gifts we just purchased during our long wait, and brought them inside with us. After our meal which was EXTREMELY expensive we gathered up our things and headed outside to discover that some one had STOLEN our $200 stroller. We spoke with the manager of the RFC and he basically did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. My husband then asked/demanded that we at least get our money back from our meal due to their stroller policy. The manager said he couldn't and gave us the old pass the buck to his corp. office in Houston. The security guard for Downtown Disney was more than accomidating to us when we informed her on what just happened. Though she was not able to refund our money she did give us an umbrella stroller to finish out our vacation with. It was a small consolation however it did not come from the RAINFOREST CAFE. The did literally nothing to help or accomidate us in anyway. I really think if its store policy that no strollers enter.....they need to make it like a coat check. The outcome is still pending and we will see if this HUGE company will make it right by the little people, even McDonalds will slide you a value meal if they screw up. Boycott pending, corp. office contact. Pros: waitress was wonderful Cons: extremely long waits, No stroller security, pricey food more

Never again! 3/8/2010

We visited this weekend for my twins 11th birthday. They were so excited to eat here, but we all left really disappointed. Pros: Cool decorations Cons: Horrible food, extremely expensive more

Horrible Weekend Visit 10/27/09 10/26/2009

Waited for 1 Hour 10 Minutes. Food was terrible. Looked like prepackaged food from Costco. Service was awful as well and I overheard the manager pointing out to some employees as he made fun of a customer at a table. I wouldn't go back if they gave out free food and drinks. Expensive, tacky and we had asked them to clean up the filthy bathroom at the beginning of the meal and when we went back at the end it was still disgusting. I felt like I should have told someone outside waiting to RUN. Don't waste your $$$ Pros: NO PROS Cons: Long Wait, Awful Food, more

Entertaining but don't expect much else 6/20/2009

Our recent visit to the Rainforest Cafe last week was our third and will be our last visit. When our children were 4 and 6, their fascination with the decor was enough to offset the poor food quality and expensive tab. However, now that they are 8 and 10, they found the place to be overly juvenile and the food almost inedible. Pros: Amusing for YOUNG children Cons: Very expensive, poor food quality, long waits more

Awesome Experience 1/3/2009

Worst Restaurant Experience Ever 6/22/2008

We had the worst experience ever! They did not have our reservation and I had not brought the number. (never had a problem in the past). The ""work-in"" was 1.5 hours, not the 30 minutes we were told. The food was over an hour in arriving to our table. The bill was messed up, but the computers were down, so they could not correct it. The waitress was apparently amused by the other family's misery. Pros: It would have been great if the service had been good. Cons: Screwed up our reservation, then had the worst service ever! more

Our family always enjoy going to this location. 2/23/2008

Wow I cannot think of anything negative to say. We love the food, the location and the people that work at this location Every time we visit Disney which is at least twice a year this is our first stop. Relax enjoy and best of all the food. Cons: always a wait to get in but worth it more

Cool Clothes/Gifts 2/15/2008

As a vegetarian I was surprised that the Rainforest cafe offered little vegetarian choices (one). I actually ordered a dish minus the beef. Our natural rainforest are being depleted due to the meat-guzzling population. Is their agenda to contribute to the annihilation of true rainforest so you will have to go visit their cartoon version? Other than those issues our service was horrendous, a nursing mother was given alcohol and the server got agitated because we sent it back. My beer sat at the bar long enough to become room temp, I watched it in anticipation yet our Nacho app was not warm enough to melt the cheese. Pros: kids love it Cons: too meat oriented more

Such fun! 11/20/2006

We had a great time in this crazy restaurant- the decorating is extremely extensive, with anamatronic animals along the walls and a thousand gallon saltwater fishtank at the entrance. The intermitant ""volcano eruptions"" might frighten some small children, although it thrilled the two I was with. It is very noisy, between the jungle sounds and the Disney crowd, but the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the chocolate Volcano dessert is to die for. Pros: Great vacation spot Cons: very noisy more

Great atmosphere, poor food 10/23/2006

The restaurant had GREAT atmosphere. Loved the plants, rain, mechanized animals, periodic thunderstorms (which scared my grand daughter). My wife and I ordered Mai Tais which we loved. We also had the Steak, Shrimp and Chicken trio.. That was some of the toughest steak I have had in a while, and considering I paid about $27 for this meal, I was severely disappointed. Also, even though we only had 3 as our party, they tacked on 18% tip. Haven't seen that elsewhere in Orlando. Now, there was a LONG line waiting to come into the restaurant, and it was packed, so maybe this was a fluke... My wife's fried coconut shimp with ther meal were over cooked and tough... I don't like coconut so I changed my shript to their crab stuffed and bacon wrapped shrimp with bernaise sauce, and they were just OK. Pros: Great fun atmosphere Cons: Poor food quality. more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! 8/18/2005

Rain Forest Cafe is a wonderful. I eat there everytime I go to Orlando (which is several times a year). The food is great. There is tons to choose from, and it tastes delicious. The kid's menu is great too. My little sister is a picky eater, but still has many choices. About every 1/2 hour there is a ""thunderstorm"" where the lights dim and all the animals move. Its awesome. The giftshop is great too. The wait can be long (you can buy a pass to skip the line, get discounts, etc.), but you can shop around Downtown Disney or the gift shop while you wait. Rain Forest Cafe is the perfect place for everyone! : ) Pros: Great Atmosphere, Good Food, Great for All Ages Cons: wait more

wow~! 5/27/2004

This place has an atmosphere like no other. Every 1/2 hour I think it is there's a waterfall that goes off! It's such an imaginative & creative place. The one bad thing is the wait is sooo long & they don't take reservations! =( pooey.. I went there with my boyfriend & another couple & the wait was 2 1/2 hours! We didn't stay there, but I've eaten there several times before. If you can, if there is a long wait, try to get into the bar area. There usually is a wait for that too, but less of one. You can walk around in the gift shop & buy things you probably wont ever need while you wait too! It's just another way for Disney to get money!! But the food is great, the service is great, & the kids will be in love!!! Pros: environment, food, service Cons: , THE WAIT!, THE WAIT! more

a real catch 12/5/2002

a very neat place to eat and the food is very tasty more

bad time at Rainforest 9/21/02 9/22/2002

Good food (except pizza) terrible experience. Had reservations for two weeks still waited over 25 mins to be seated. Nice waiter. Good service until...Manager informed us there would be a 17% ""gratuity"" added to our bill because we had over 6 (7) people. NOT! Waiter was then rude to 8 year old celebrating birthday! Never got any service after. Would not go back! Pros: good variety, good food, fun for kids Cons: crowded, rude manager/waiter more

No way! 9/7/2002

Over-priced and greasy. Definitely not a breakfast place. If you have any self-respect, Stay away--Stay far away. Cons: loud, over-priced, greasy more

Rumble in the Jungle 8/26/2002

The atmosphere was fun without being to bright or loud. The food and service was top rate. The aquariums were beautiful and added immensely to the experience. Even the lightning and thunder was great fun Pros: Service, employee attitudes, the theme Cons: Food Quality Fair, To expensive more

Excellent service 8/11/2002

The staff was cheerful and I felt welcome. Our waitress was charming and even after she dropped our appetizer, which slid across the table clearing it, maintained a professional attitude and was able to laugh with us. Despite the broken glass it was a wonderful experience. more
