Editorial review from Citysearch 3/24/2014

Not sure if it was the owner who answered the phone but whoever it was was very rude. We are in town and were looking for hobby shops and information but he acted as if he was put out with a phone call checking the hours and what scale items they carry. Won't receive our business. more

Great Hobby Shop 6/20/2011

The owner, a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel, is very knowledgeable. If something you want is not in stock, he will be glad to take a special order. He has an electronic mailing list and keeps us up to date on new arrivals, new promotions, shows, or anything else we need to know. The name "Rail and Sprue Hobbies" means he sells model trains and plastic models. The are are no RC products, and that is stated plainly on his front door. He promotes local shows and other events. He may not be the largest, but he is certainly the best shop I've seen in my 52 years in various hobbies. more

The best hobby shop in Memphis is in Jacksonville, AR 4/25/2007

I am a 30-year resident of Memphis, TN. After spending years longing for a well-stocked hobby shop in my hometown, I finally found it...in Jacksonville, AR. Hobby Shack has the best selection of plastic model kits, model trains and model building supplies in the area. The staff is friendly and is able to answer most any question. Hobby Shack is a shop that's well worth the 2.5-hour drive!! more

Best Hobby Shop in Little Rock 4/25/2007

Hobby Shack features the best selection of model railroading supplies in Little Rock. Though the inventory does not compare in volume to larger stores that I've frequented in Texas, the variety of available items is comparable. Pricing is comparable to the larger stores and the management is much friendlier. I've always been able to find at least one of everything that I've ever needed to complete a model railroading project in this thoughtfully-stocked store. \r \r The store also offers supplies for plastic model builders and gamers. Since these are not my hobbies, I can't comment as to the variety, availability, etc. \r \r When it comes to model railroading, this shop is easily the best in Little Rock!!! more

Hobby store expert debunked 4/25/2007

To be an "Official" expert you should really know what you are talking about. This is not you typical hobby shop. Had you actually gone inside and talked to the knowledgeable staff and looked at the very well stocked shelves, you would have found everything from model railroading to rocketry and all varieties of model cars, boats and airplanes and even classes on how to build a model railroad on your own. Also, had you spoken to the manager you would have found there are bargains in all areas of the store. Sorry, scrap-booking is not a hobby and your cards can be found at Wal-Mart. more

Insider self proclaimed expert? 4/24/2007

How can you be an "expert" if you don 't know what you are talking about. I have been a Hobby Shack customer for several years and have yet to see any collector cards or any related items for sale. They are the best supplied model train and plastic model outlet in the greater Little Rock area. Get your act together please. more

Good local hobby store 9/25/2005

Although Hobby Shack is not a large store, they do provide a vast array of merchandise for many needs. The products offered are of a high end, and prices do reflect this. Hobby Shack is adequate for those quick shopping trips when you are in need of specific products, but you are better off going to one of the larger hobby supply stores in the area for your main shopping. Located just down from Walmart, there is ample parking for all, and the staff is more than knowledgeable of their merchandise and very friendly. PROS: Quality products CONS: Small store, high prices more
