I've been going to Rafik since 1991. Yes they can be quirky - but I like that. Mindy, the owner, has always been helpful and very flexible with my needs and issues. more

I'm a filmmaker and photojournalist. I have used Rafik a handful of times over the last 20 years. They always did a terrible job, were rude and completely incompetent, but I would use them for unimportant things because they were cheap. more

AVOID!! They lie, they cheat, they steal your money! Endless runarounds and blatant lying. more

UST AVOID! Thee WORST transfer facility ever. Just do yourself a favor and don't even consider this place as a legitimate option. If you want to know why then continue reading. This is all from personal experience. Your transfer will be done horribly, your money will be wasted, your time will be wasted. Just spend the extra money however much it may be and get your transfers done elsewhere, there are plenty of competent and respectable places in NYC, do some more research. To give you an anology. Would you go back to the the same doctor that committed malpractice on you to fix what they they already screwed up? NO! why would you expect different results and trust them on a second try? So why would anyone that received a horrible transfer (scratches, dirt, out of focus, off center, over/under lit, wobbling) go back expecting better results? You won't. Don't fall for the trap, of ""we'll retransfer it"" because if they can't get it right the first time, you're asking for more trouble. The owner is a willful idiot. Her employees are oblivious passive minions. They won't respond to emails or phone calls. If you go in there they just repeat their nonsensical mantra of ""I don't know"" & ""Bring your film back in we'll re-transfer it.(when we feel like it)"" AVOID!!! You're money will not be refunded. If your hard work is ruined, destroyed, lost etc. trust me I went through it. Don't let months of pre-production & production be completely wasted and dragged through the mud because of this places facade of having a history of being a film transfer place. more

Wow. I wish I had checked CitySearch before going to Rafik. I was there three times for a project and each visit was worse than the list. Completely disorganized, they couldn't even find the project of the woman ahead of me in line. For me, it was all about botched phone updates, estimates that were several HUNDRED dollars off, and a staff that was immediately on the defensive. This place is an embarrassment. more

I've never posted a bad online review before now, but I feel others should be warned away from this business. I took them a CD reproduction and printing job, and they botched the printing in several different ways (wobbly cutting that looked like it was done with a bread knife, smeared and discolored CDs), acted like I was the one with the problem when I had to ask them to redo it not once but twice, and then had technical difficulties that prevented them from getting the job done when I needed it. When I asked for my money back on the unfinished portion of the job so I could get it done elsewhere to meet my deadline, they told me they had a ""no cancellations"" policy and refused to give me the partial refund. In other words, if they can't get your job done on time, they will not give you your money back. Go anywhere else but here. Pros: there are none Cons: you name it more

This place is the worst experiance I have ever had costomer service is appaling the store is constently out of stock and they owner is knowen to yell at costomers. Pros: none Cons: every thing more

Do not use this place. They are rude, snippy, and have consistently screwed up my jobs. Other reviewers have described a ""cool vibe."" This is not at all what I am looking for in such a service. The front office is filthy and chaotic...I can only imagine what their post rooms look like. Their pricing policies are on the expensive side and vague at best. Multiple attempts to get quotes over the phone have been trying experiences to say the least. I really wonder why anyone would use this place when there are so many other post and dup houses to choose from. Many of my clients have had me doing format transfers, dups, and quick edits on their reels, and content. I have tried many of the shops in town, and these guys at Rafik consistently deliver a quality result for me and my clients......They answer questions, tell you what you need, take pride in the quality of their service, and best of all they get it done fast....... more

I love Rafik, it's THE place to get your old families movies from the 70's (the ones you never got a chance to see ...) transfer to DVD's . more

Despite the fact that they are moderately priced, these guys are not worth it. Constantly have to get them to redo jobs. They do not meet deadlines. In addition, the staff is extremely rude. When asked for a job to be redone correctly, I have often encountered a horrible attitude. These obviously don't care about retaining clients. I'm through with them and I recommend that others heed this advice. I've found a couple places comparable in price and well worth the extra $$ - no stress.
